I still think it's funny that he thinks that in the US we bribe police officers who write us a traffic ticket.

This is the US, not Mexico.

The guy is from Spain not the US. If you moved to a different country after living in the US your entire life you'd be confused by their ways as well. I think he's doing fine.

Im not saying anything, but money talks.

Credit crunch affecting you, struggling to feed the kids, someone offers you $2000 cash to walk away....

Just spend it, I know it's not the right thing but when you return it to the manager or give it to the authorities it's likely that they will spend it.

Here a update on the lost Apple Gift Card

So this came back from the Apple Store talked with the head store manger, this is what he told me to do.... They was able to find the copy of the sales invoice of the sale... The reason that no one came in to the store to say they lost it because the sale date the is was brought was from December 20 2008....

So how do we explain that how did it get to the parking lot yesterday ????

The person never used the Gift Card the Apple Store said and they are not in the right to hold it for me at this point . They took my name and number and say that they will tell other employes about the Gift Card and will contact me.. If with-in 30 days he said it will be mine to keep, so he told me to to tell the mall police to see if they reported anything lost... Nothing was reported

I think its to let to call the police at this point what can they do...

I think the only way now is the new because this is clearly someone xmas gift

Return to the Apple Store and leave your number with the manager. Tell him that you found a gift card with an unusually large amount of money on it...do not tell him the amount...no one can be trusted with that much money.

I would even require the claimer have the receipt for the cash transaction otherwise it can't be claimed.

Way to go, don't bother reading the thread or even the OP's last post 25 minutes before yours

Top Tip: never ask for moral advice on a forum. The signal to noise ratio is terrible

You did the right thing -- congratulations. Now if you get to keep it, it will be with a clean conscience.

Why do you refer to it as your card if it was your girlfriend's?

(Unless you're kidding.)

now this should get interesting. in abit of a dilemma here, as you know everything about it now. got a receipt? atm receipt for the cash? bank statement for the cash? i can't see how you can prove anything with those.

thought i'd offer another lead. in the uk the apple store always offer to email your receipt aswell as a till receipt. might be a chance they did it, so you can email the person to let them know.

Sure...

Its my card! I lost it in CT and it must have teleported itself. I put $3500 on it to get rid of my drug money :) So when can i get my card?

(Im just kidding by the way)

You have done all you can, the card was purchased over 2 months ago, if the owner is looking for it, they will go to the apple store, and you will be notified and return it, if not, looks like your good morals rewarded you, and you got yourself a free Mac Pro or MacBook Pro + Display.

She's looking to see if she still has the reciept. We have moved since then and everything is still scattered and in boxes. Shes also a server at a restaurant and had been saving her tips for awhile to get it. My computer has been on its last legs for months and she wanted to get me something nice.

Hmmm and the plot thickens. I wonder why this card was only found yesterday, especially if the card was for Christmas. Something doesn't seem right here.

Looks like I've found this thread just as it's getting even better

'Next Tuesday, I'd check in with Apple if it really is your ticket as the CCTV will prove who bought the ticket .

I hope Apple do thorough checks on this one, ...what a find.. to the OP :Sir you have my respects for the great honesty you have shown by handing the voucher in to Apple.

Ive purchased ipods, iphones, accessories and the such at apple over the years and always paid cash and never had them ask me any of my personal information.

What's that got to do with this ? you said your girlfriend bought this gift card , either way the person who bought it by cash or card will be on CCTV, just remember the date and approximate time of sale and there you go you can prove outright if it's yours [girlfriends] or not, even if she has lost the receipt too...visual independent proof is what's needed or a receipt or something like that but ye, CCTV will show if she did buy it or not , so no worries eh

Without a receipt, I'm thinking the finders award should be an amount between $3499 and $3501.

If you're seriously making a claim for the found card, maybe this practice may warrant rethinking...

It's weird reading so far into a thread like this without hearing the words "Lagos" "Western Union" or "Nigeria."

I'll call the apple store tomorrow and see how far back they keep cctv records or tapes or whatever they use....Thanks for the info!
