Guess it's time to decide if I want to keep my jailbreak on my iPhone 11 Pro Max or update.

I upgraded my jailbroken 12PM to the 14PM last year, and for the first time in years, I didn’t wait to see if a jailbreak for iOS 16 would be released. I haven’t missed my jailbreak, and from this point forward, see no reason for me to jailbreak again.

Didn’t realize people actually did this still. What do you use the jailbreak for?

Yeah people aren't bringing up since the phone is "always on" and you want to use it as a clock, would it be off till you "look" at it or always on? Means the Camera would be constantly on too.
Standby mode ‘always on display’ only works for iPhone 14 pro or 15 pro—it needs the always on display capability. The camera isn’t activated for that feature at all, and iOS has an indicator in case it is or was recently being used.

Are you taking more generally about people’s willingness to put cameras and microphones in their private spaces with Apple, Amazon, or Google home devices? I agree that we’re putting a lot of faith in these companies to *not* spy on us at all times; it’s one of the reasons I choose Apple for this type of stuff, because they seem more up front about preserving privacy and sandboxing certain features to prevent malicious uses. Amazon for sure uses the camera in Echo and Ring devices that have them. But yeah, our phones can ‘hear’ us pretty well at all times these days.

I am not sure that I need those features for the phone … I nonetheless happy to upgrade my aTV as FaceTime and VPN are precious features I am looking for … as for the rest on iPad watch phone … I am not sure …

XS had the A12 chip and 8-plus the same year release had the A11 - which was about 20% better. You tell me that made such a difference for this iOS version?
A12 neural engine was live processed. I think most features 8/X didn’t get had to do with neural engine only post processing (they totally could’ve given photo lookup/text recognition within photo gallery, but not in camera). Then the keyboard now using more of the neural engine, if a11 can’t take advantage of a basic but advertised feature they figured time to drop it? Idk ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Can’t seem to get standby to work. Got it turned on and connected to charger at an angle and it won’t seem to turn on. I randomly got it working when I installed the RC on day 1 and now it just refuses to activate.
I’ve found Standby to be completely unreliable in the RC. It frequently doesn't come up when it should (locked, charging, horizontal), and it comes up when it shouldn’t (unlocked, not charging).

I’ve had it come up while reading in bed (so, horizontal) before going to sleep. Very disruptive! The other day I took the phone off the charger and couldn’t get out of Standby. It kept coming up in place of the Lock Screen despite not charging and regardless of orientation. I couldn’t swipe over to the unlock keypad either - it was stuck on the clock (could swipe between clock variations though). Finally got out of it when a notification came up and I was able to tap it to get unlocked.

Needless to say, I turned it off. Can’t see much use for it, anyway.

Yeah I’m a bit disappointed that my iPhone 8 which is still in pristine condition with 98% battery (it got replaced on AppleCare+ about a year ago) will not be getting the update but my wife’s X will be.

We both have newer iPhones but keep secondary devices around as music players, second screens, etc. because of iPhone lacking multi window multitasking.

Where’s that phone stand from? I can’t seem to find it on apples website.
I actually have one from https://grovemade.com/product/magsafe-stand/?initial=642 It's absolutely gorgeous, but a bit spendy.. You also need to buy a magsafe charger from apple and add it to the stand -- the stand doesn't include the charger bit...

Tim understands that very well that a calculator app is still not a part of iPadOS.

Took ages for them to bring Final Cut to the iPad. Scare they would killed LumaFusion.

Make iPhone 6s supports RAW format but still needed apps to take them.

Edit: Actually, these advance features are very invisible to user. They would have to dig them to find out. And I kind of appreciate that (and hate it also) because it make navigation less cluttered. I do still believe Apple still care about the simplicity of the iOS. Every new feature seems considered if they would get in user’s way.
Just take the start screen, that works like the Apple Watch. I used it exactly one, but it happens very often that it switches into edit mode. My mother would be scared and would call me, how to exit this screen. Apple could have choosen the way to create an Api, so people could choose from „Home screen designers“ in the app store.

But this is just an example and lots of forum members will start to cry, telling me that they use it every day and that this is their most beloved feature … And this is ok, just download an app, if you want this functionality.

Apple could really clean up iOS.

So, does it break compatibility with any apps on Ventura (like it used to with books and reminders and notes not being interoperable anymore until Apple caught up with macOS).
Specifically I don’t want to install Sonoma in the foreseeable future because new macOS‘s always make some of my music software stop working.

To conclude, really just basic stuff without big use cases or changes. If these are the Top 10 Changes, yeah, there isnt really much to expect.

I'm still waiting for them to finish fixing iOS 16, but I'll probably jump to 17.1.1 and Sonoma but I'm not inclined to jump into a disaster.
