Beta 6

Works great for me! Installed OTA. VPN Xauth is now working where it has not in all previous builds. Complete BETA seems much more stable.

Only 'bug' I've noticed so far...
When using Voice Commands..."Call Home"...it doesn't repeat "Calling Home"...it just goes and does it.

They actually posted the windows iTunes 10.5 downloads right next to the Mac ones finally, not hiding them in the iCloud section anymore.

And wow, they actually posted a New 10.7.2 build(11C40) and iCloud beta 8 for lion. Looks like they even pushed out safari 5.1.1 update 2 for Mac too.

A little quick on the battery test, don't you think? I mean, it's been like 30 minutes. :)

Actually, I could tell you within the first 15 minutes that the battery life was better. With b5, my iPad would lose 1% of battery life just sitting in my bag unused about every 15 minutes. This is the first thing I checked after upgrading.

I can say that it seems battery life is back to b4 levels, which were excellent. I actually thought that b4 battery levels were better than I ever got using iOS 4.

I hope it stays this way.

not sure if this was allowed in previous releases but it lets me pick my custom made ringtones for text tones. so all i did was make a very short ringtone and made it my text sound.

Yeah, beta 5 was really bad. I would need just a few minutes to notice as well.

The only reason you guys think beta 6 is more smooth is because the iPhone rebooted after updating.

are they ever going to do anything with Newstand during the beta? or do you think it just will be rolled out during the official release?

My photo app says the photos are restoring constantly, album view gives a different number of restored photos to the view inside the album. Anyone else got this?

I can say for sure though that the camera app opens A LOT faster than it used to. From the lock screen also

iOS Beta 6 expiring on 9/29/11?

I noticed no difference in battery life with b5 over b4. In fact, when I read about the b6 update, i turned on my iPad for the first time since i removed it from the dock at 7 AM this morning. It was 100% then. At about 3 PM when the update came out, i took it out of its bag and it was at 98% (which i figured was more than safe to update without a power adapter). This is with an iPad 2.

I just went to back up to iCloud before updating and it says "IPhone is being restored, cannot back up to iCloud" Any ideas?

iCloud auto restores the latest backup? This happen to anybody else? I remember beta 5 having to restore manually, hmmm.

The only reason you guys think beta 6 is more smooth is because the iPhone rebooted after updating.

And you're basing this on what? Can't a software version be optimized for better performance from its predecessor?

Well, my battery life goes down 1% every 3 mins, and my phone gets VERY hot, so any type of improvement is better than what i have...

If you have an app that can you see CPU usage with I would bet that something is causing your device to run at 100%. Sometimes I was able to get the usage to drop by closing everything. Other times I had to reboot.

*soapbox* this wouldn't be as much of an issue if the "task bar" only showed running applications. cause you could at least confirm that none of the running apps are runaway processes *end soapbox*

Coalescing, good word. Getting ready to OTA update now. Probably going to do a Wifi-sync then install the new iTunes beta. Anyone notice that Wifi-syncs really don't work automatically when you plug in an iPhone in beta 5 (yes it's on the same Wifi network as it's paired Mac)? It's a pain. Also annoying is the tendency of the of the camera to take forever to load and to put a photo into the 'roll. For some reason, I can't zoom either. Hoping this will be fixed with the new beta.
