iOS 7.1 Feedback

DFU restore gets rid of most of those types of issues. My first full battery test on 7.1 got me almost 11hrs of usage and over 13 standby.

Giving it a go. Is it uncommon to have to download iOS firmware from locations other than iTunes because iTunes always fails and resets?

Please do me a favor, in Maps in hybrid mode, are the bars solid black and not transparent?

On my iPhone 5S, if I enable "Darken Colors" under Accessibility/Increase Contrast, the search bar turns solid black in both Satellite and Hybrid modes.

Just reproduced that as well--very interesting that that particular settings has that effect.

Mine is black on my 5s and iPad Air and that's off. Can someone post a pic of what it looks like normally?

Also I'm not talking about the search bar. rather the black boarders on the top and bottom

so far so good on the air, will report back after a full day useage tomorrow

after just 20 mins usage, the refresh is still there but not as bad as b4. no crash yet which is good

Pretty pathetic it took 6 months for the iPhone 4 and 4S to work function properly again.

There is no reason why 7.1 took so long. Its what 7.0 should have been all along!

Never felt like iOS 7 was slow, but after installing iOS 7.1 on my devices, I can definitely feel and see the difference.

Still a LITTLE bit buggy, but I'm sure 7.1.1 can sort it out.

I'm using iPhone 5s, but we have an iPhone 4 in the house and surprisingly the iPhone 4 is really smooth and performance feels a lot better with iOS 7.1. It's amazing how a four year old device can become so fluid with just a bit of optimisation.

Imagine a four year old Samaung device. Case and point why I'm back with Apple!!! Cupertino FTW!!!

i still feel like the iPad Air isnt push to its full 64bit potential.

The animation when using the home button is different from the one when you pinch to close. The good thing about the second one is you don't have to wait for the animation to finish to use your ipad. Simply swipe left or right during the animation and it will stop. :)

You don't have to wait for the "pinch to close" animation to finish, so it doesn't really matter if it's slower or not.

Yes cause we all know that .05 seconds is a deal breaker.

ios 7 should have just been released a bit later with more of the fixes from iOS 7.1

Overall the responsiveness on my 4s is faster. I haven't noticed any bugs, yet, but coincidentally I also updated a host of apps, two of which crash consistently. I'm not anticipating trouble since I did a clean install and set it up as new. Will post again if something comes up. I think I might be ready to install iOS 7 on my iPad mini.

Noticed that auto-brightness is a lot more sensitive now. It actually works a lot better than any past version of iOS. Goes lower brightness than before when it used to go down to 15%, now it goes down all the way. Didn't happen on 7.1 beta 5.

I played around with a pair of iPhone 4S's with iOS 6 and iOS 7.1 and the home screen unlock animation is still an order of magnitude slower on iOS 7.1 than it is on 6, what's worse you cannot interact with the icons until the animation has finished on iOS 7.1 whereas on iOS 6 you can swipe pages before the animation finishes.

Presumably the animation is the same speed on all devices 4S, 5, 5S?

It seems to me that Apple still just doesn't get it... sure, the slow showy animation might look nice the first time, but after that it's just a total pain in the ass that the phone takes an extra 1-2 seconds longer to unlock than it needs to.

What a difference now on the sound level. Before it was OK, but after 7.1....

After doing a clean fresh reset, not using iTunes, and having issues in not being able to hear the clicking of the phone keypad when pressed with the reset , I inserted my wired headset cable, clicked on a few numbers of the keypad, heard the clicking finally, than removed the cable, and tried again, and Wa La, the sound was way louder as well as hearing my incoming calls. So loud that I had to lower the sound level a bit. Prior to 7.1 I had some sound level issues but no other issues as others have had.

The speed seemed the same as before, and very happy with the update. :D

Wa La! Lol. I think you mean "voilà", which is French.

Please guys some one help me with this issue i found some one here face the same issue

I have 5s And every thing is smooth and fast except after activating 3G i found delay in opening apps for 1 sec then animation begin and without 3G every thing is fine and also can't find APN setting at all and this problem just happens after updating to 7.1

Waiting for any help

Loving it so far! My iPad 4 is simply a pleasure to use again, super fast and silky smooth :)

Awesome stuff Apple.

My ipad 4 seems to be clunky when closing apps and returning to home screen. No nice animations it just flicks back to home screen. Anyone else getting this?

Ok. So I fixed it fairly easily. For some reason ios 7.1 turns reduce motion ON as default. Switching it off fixes it back to how it was.

I get a brief lag when using the 4-finger pinch to close an app on my 1st gen Mini, a blank home screen before the icons animate back in. No big problem though, the lag is something like half a second. Might switch on reduce motion if it does get troublesome.
