Hi, first time poster here

I am from the UK and am travelling out to Toronto due to work at the end of April. I really want to pick up 2 32GB wifi iPads when I am out there but just want to clarify a few things.

In the UK, they are selling for £479 which according to google works out to be just over CAD 750. In Canada they are selling for 619 dollars equating to £395. I am happy to wait for a while if I am able to save nearly £200, I just have a couple of questions.

1. Is CAD 619 all I would pay for each iPad in Toronto? I have read up on a sales tax known as HST, but am still not sure if that is to be applied on top of the 619 dollars, or if it is inclusive.

2. If the HST is inclusive or not inclusive in the price, am I able to reclaim that as I am a non resident? In the UK it is possible to reclaim VAT, which I believe is the equivalent of HST, if you are a non resident.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure about the claiming aspect, ut the HST is applied to the cost of the product at the time of sale. So a $619 iPad will be $619+12% HST=$693.28CAD.

Win for Canada!!

So, for the most part, the experince in Canada has been excellent! I was worried after reading some horror stories from the US threads!

Cheers.

The Montreal Fairview Pointe-Claire mall Apple Store had lots of 16 & 32 Gig iPad2s left on Friday 25th at 20h30, and no line up.

The Pacific Center line-up was crazy, even today there was still a line. I tried out the new iPad at a future shop, and I am very disappointed. I noticed no change in speed at all. I didn't tried any games though, and also had ran very hot.

It wasn't actually all that bad.

I lined up around 2PM today and was in and out with my 64GB White iPad within an hour and a half. I think people were just surprised at how long the line was, but once you actually lined up the whole thing went by really quickly.

In any case, I think the scalping market in Canada is pretty much dead. The stores have plenty of iPads available if you look around carefully - more importantly, they're getting enough stock at a fast enough pace to shift people from thinking 'Maybe I'll pay a $100 premium to get one from a scalper' to 'The stores are getting them fast enough, if I wait it out an extra week, I'll probably be able to find one.' Couple that with the vast amounts of people listing their iPads on Craigslist, and it's very much a buyer's market.

I bet a lot of the people who bought two with the intention of scalping one or both will end up either having to return those that they bought or take a much smaller premium than they originally expected (<$50). There's no stock shortage here like there was in the States.

As for me, I didn't scalp - bought one for myself and one for my cousin. Very pleased with the purchase!

I live in Vancouver and I couldn't get any iPad on Friday, does anyone know if there's any 16GB wi-fi left anywhere? Have any of the stores receive a new shipment for the ipad yet???

Apple Eaton Center and Best Buy and Future Shops -- all sold out.

Apple only has a few Wifi versions of iPad 2 left.

Anyone know where to get the Ipad 2 Black, 3G in Toronto?

Popped into future shop in robson/graville in Vancouver on saturday. They got around 80 iPads and sold out right away. They had one on display and no one was around it so I played with it for a minute.

It felt nicer to hold (thinner and a tiny bit lighter) but overall it was the exact same thing as the iPad 1 (obviously, same apps and iOS) so I wasn't impressed in the slightest. If you have an iPad 1 I can say with 100% confidence that it is completely foolish to buy an iPad 2. If you don't have an iPad at all and are desperate to get one, the iPad 2 obviously good, and if you are like me and are waiting for apple to actually turn it into something useful you'll wait for iPad 3.

I'll be waiting for the iPad 3 when apple actually releases a decent version of iOS.

Does any Bell Mobility Canada use their iPhone 4 personal wifi hotspot to make their iPad connect to the internet?

I'm considering an iPhone 4 but would like some confirmation from actual real Bell customers.

I have a Virgin Mobile iPhone 4 (Virgin is a subsidiary of Bell Mobility) and I use the Personal Hotspot to tether my iPad to my iPhone. I think you need to have at least a 1gb plan with your carrier, mine is a 6gb plan.

Hey guys, this is my first time posting.

I placed an order for two Black 32GB Wi-Fi iPad2's, and two Smart Covers (green & blue) on line at 4:16 AM eastern time on March 25.

I wanted to modify my order and change one of the black iPads to a white one. Do you think if I modify my order, my shipping time will be delayed? or will there be any delay in general? When I ordered it it said shipping: 2-3 weeks, and my status says Ships: April 15, Delivers: April 22.

Thanks

It probably will be pushed back to the current ship date. Apple would essentially be canceling your black iPad order and placing a white order. I highly doubt your ship time would remain what it is now.

If anyone is in or near Grande Prairie AB, there are multiple ipad's of different sizes in stock at both Best Buy and Future Shop

i got a white 64gb wifi and for the most part the rear case is always cool to the touch. even after playing simcity for a couple hours.
you can't test the speed of it without running an app that will utilize it. the main screen and built in apps will run in generally the same speed as the old ipad but it would be slightly more responsive. youtube ipad vs ipad 2 speed and you'll see the difference.

Bell is the same as Rogers. You must have a data pla more than 1G to be allow tethering.

Went to FS on launch date (Ottawa, Southkeys) just a little after 4. Waited in line for less than 1 hour and left with an iPad. Stock were very good and no horror stories like the States. Kept on thinking about all the asian stories posted here (I am asian) and so glad we don't have that problem in Ottawa.

Enjoy your new toy folks. For those that are still lookng for one, good luck and be patient. You'll eventually get one.

cheers:)

Seems the 64 GB WiFi only in black is the toughest one to come by. Got logged on quickly, but none of these were available. They had every other model at the store I looked at.
