The ones who aren’t having issues. How close are you to 5G/LTE towers and rural vs city? I read 5G can only travel a few 100 feet vs LTE that can travel upwards of 10 miles. Take away 3G which probably goes farther and....
I’m on AT&T in rural NH. We don’t have 5G around here. So I am using my very old SIM card and have no 5G plan. But my service/connectivity is fine with no problems.

That could be a big clue.. I’m rural and on 5G plan but no 5G is close. 5G sim... 🤔

I had a 4G SIM in my 12 Pro at first, it was no better for me. I swapped to 5G trying to improve reception.

You know one thing I want to mention. When I first got my 12 pro I was on start unlimited and the phone was working ok at my house. A rep told me they were upgrading me to a diff plan that had 5g UW and once they did that the phone became way worse. Could totally be coincidence but you think plans have anything to do with this????

It’s 2021 who know. Might be aliens playing with us for all I know.

I have LTE/5G towers all around me as I’m pretty much in the city. I’m about 30-45 minutes from what you would consider rural where I live and work at.

Plus you’re probably sharing towers with 1,000 of other people. Thanks for the input, starting to see a better picture for the ones who are having issues.

Has anyone either purchased an iPhone 12 in 2021 or had a warranty replacement in 2021? Any difference?

Apple4teacher received a brand new replacement like two weeks ago after battling Verizon with the refurbished ones for a while. Haven’t seen him/her since last weekend to confirm it’s fixed or not.

Just received a $200 credit from Verizon Executive Relations thanking me for my patience while they continue to try and close the ticket pertaining to signal issues.

Hey guys, been busy the past couple of weeks. The new phone is an improvement, but still experiencing some issues. While I don’t have the dropped calls anymore thankfully, I still have the issue where about every other morning I have to toggle cellular off and on before I am able to make calls. I think the dropped calls were a hardware issue, and the cellular not functioning until toggled is a software issue, or maybe a different hardware issue. But the drastic difference between the original phone and the 3 replacement phones and then this new phone that was manufactured in late December or early January is hard to deny. There was clearly a hardware issue causing the calls to drop repeatedly in some of the earlier batches.
Worth noting that Verizon has not once reached out since saying the phone was shipping to see if I received it or if it works. I’ve lost all respect for them.

Copy that friend. Glad your having a bit more success. Still on my original, it’s gotten better as time has progressed, things have definitely improved for me, hoping 14.5 has a permanent fix as speculated.

BIG UPDATE!!!!

Ok so pre ordered iPhone 12 pro from Verizon, recvd, sent back as it could not hold service especially at my house. Tried a replacement same thing. Tried a 12 pro max, same thing! Super disappointed as I have a baby coming next week and really want the camera.
I went to At&t and said what the heck I'm not under contract let's switch.
I recvd my 12 pro max today activated and have been making calls for 2 hours now FROM MY HOME! I have 1 small bar of 5G on the phone but have yet to lose service completely. On the ride home, 5G which I know isn't true 5G, was lit almost the whole ride where Verizon service was always spotty.

Hope this helps!

Glad to hear that is working for you. Unfortunately I'm on Verizon. Any updates from Verizon people? Improved or the same? Still holding out to get my 12pro till it's fixed.

I mainly have handoff issues on Verizon with my 12 pro. I’ll be at work and suddenly notice I have no cell signal. I’ll go to a different area in my building and then it reconnects. I’ve never had this issue before this phone. I’ve tried everything. I only have this issue at work. It must be the tower that it’s trying to connect to in conjunction with 5G. I don’t have a 5G plan either.

Saw where Verizon is pushing carrier updates 45.5.7 that’s fixing the issue. But it seems like it’s going along with each tower update so there’s no telling when this ends.

As in pushing a stand-alone carrier update to people on 14.4? Because 45.5.7 is included in iOS 14.5 beta 2.

Also did you see an explanation for the carrier update or is it speculation?
Thanks

Saw it in the apple disccusions thread. I’m not sure if it’s standalone or maybe they are running beta? not sure, just pure speculation on the tower update along with carrier. I’ve received carrier updates in the past without IOS updates but it’s been a while. That makes sense though, push it out at once. Sad is that it’s taken almost 5 months
