What I want to know is, what is Apple’s strategy for the model names... will they keep the numbers until iPhone 20?
What are they going to call the iPhone 13? It can’t be 13 since it’s commonly thought of as an unlucky number.

I’m sorry but what even is this? The 12 isn’t even out yet.
I wish I could get paid to throw ideas and educated guesses out there. Maybe someday and I’ll call myself an analyst.
These days all you need is a twitter.

Will wait for the iPhone 13 that will probably have Touch ID implemented on the device.

I feel you and and agree 100%. However, if the only reason you are deciding to wait for the iPhone 13 is the hope of Touch ID I think you are setting yourself up for a disappointment next year. While adding Touch ID in combination with Face ID is the logical thing for Apple to do in these new times we live in, Apple is not always logical in their decision making.

The justification is that there are fools that waste money each year buying a new phone so why would Apple or any other company stop putting out a new one every year and making tons of money?

Calling people fools because they upgrade yearly is wrong. It’s their money and they can do what they want with it. Many people like me, save up for these phones yearly. This is the most expensive item I buy yearly and it’s nothing wrong with that.

It apple went to another release cycle, they would get some bad press regarding that as well. I can almost see it now, the same people who suggest, that yearly release cycles contribute to bugs and Apple doesn't have enough time to iron things out...would instead be saying how Apple is lagging, and the richest company on the planet should be releasing products more frequently, etc, etc.

As long as the competition is on a yearly release cycle, so will Apple.

As for calling Apple customer fools, people are entitled to vote with the $$$ the way they want to vote.

Bringing out the old tired argument of its my money I can do what I want, no one has said otherwise. Just becasue people can afford to buy Iphones every year does not make it any less foolish

Yea this is really the only tech I get yearly. Other things I don't replace until the previous ones breaks down. I get baffled by the people who will flock to the iPhone with the new color or whatever feature that defines it as the newest so they can run around going look at me and my cool iPhone. I just like tech; I don't care if anyone else knows I have it or not.

I don't care much about 120hz BUT, with this new "confuse/work the leakers" operation they have going on, I am highly leaning towards the 12 models having 120Hz by means of being able to select it in preferences.

I don’t understand why would anyone buy an iPhone without Touch ID in the middle of a pandemic, especially if you live in a big city and use public transportation ! Dont know where things will go ,I really hope for the best, but 2021 is gonna be the year of the mask!
Not having Touch ID on your iPhone seems like a major disadvantage these days!

It's not like Apple could've predicted the pandemic and bring Touch ID back.

When the rona started taking over the world, the 12 series was probably already finished design-wise, except testing and similar kinds of things. Adding another biometric could've delayed the phones even more.

Now that we have Touch ID embedded into the power button, there's hope Apple can apply this to future iPhones.

Well, this sucks. The 12 Pro Max should have the 120 Hz display.

The regular pro should as well. Not a fan of the smaller pro phone now rumored to be getting nerfed spec and feature wise. Those max sized phones aren't pocket friendly and I'd still really like a 120 Hz display. I play a game with a lot of menu scrolling and it would be a welcome addition. I keep wanting to upgrade my iphone X but doesn't look like it will be worth it for me again this year. 120 Hz display was #1 on my wish list. :(

I've got it on good authority that iPhone 14 is gonna be killer. 😂

Perhaps that would be the right move!Delay it a bit more!
Cannot disagree on the fact that no one could have predicted the pandemic.
But another fact is that an iPhone without Touch ID is a serious disadvantage for many people during a pandemic!
Other manufacturers offer both solutions and that was the right thing to do from day one!
Lets hope iPhone 13 will offer both!

MKBHD is just a YouTuber that does reviews not a tech expert 😂

He's the top tech reviewer on YouTube and been doing since he was 12 or 13? He's also interviewed top tech executives like Craig F, Gates, Musk, Mark Z and you don't think he has any expertise on tech?

I think most tech enthusiast would agree not having a high refresh rate screen on a flagship phone in 2020 is a pretty big miss. Unless you have an Apple bias and then it's ok.

If you’d actually follow some tech experts then you’d immediately realize that there’s a bunch of technical errors and misinformation in his videos.
His videos are good for a first look into new stuff and are well produced but really aren’t videos you should watch if you actually want to know details about phones.

Anything solid that the next phone released will be given the 12 moniker, or will it follow the X, with release of the XS, thus looking at the 11RS, 11S, and 11SPro this cycle?

There have been leaks about the names being iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

It could be that the internal improvements are more akin to an “S” cycle, but the name will almost certainly be iPhone 12, rather than 11s, because it has a new industrial design.

Bummed that these leaks/reports are indicating no 120hz this year. I’m upgrading and I’d really like to have that on the 12 Pro.

How about asking the masses about a high refresh rate on a flagship phone and see if the masses view it as a miss?

Who really cares what the tech enthusiast agrees with or not, or what any youtuber agrees with or not. This is the bottom line,...if the iphone 12 is not for you (the royal "you") then don't buy it.

And if you believe the masses that purchase Apple customers have an Apple bias, you are probably right. And it's a good thing, not a bad thing as the subtext of your comment, with the roll-eyes face would insinuate.

When did I say they couldn't ? Having the right to be a fool does not make you any less of one. I am all for people doing what ever they want with their money, but am also entitled to call a fool a fool
It's my own feeling that commenting on posters personally is folly and until another pays my bills, they have to no right to judge the way money is spent.
