I love my iPhone 6s and iPad Pro and I've always been a sucker for purchasing the latest and greatest IOS devices from Apple. But this whole removal of the headphone jack really has me angry. I love that I can easily use my Beats earbuds on my iPhone, iPad, Dell Laptop (OK so I use Windows), and my car (yep I have a headphone jack in my car). Removal of the ubiquitous headphone jack sucks, and I don't give a darn that Apple is picking up a few microns in thickness. Personally I'd be happy to keep the current iPhone thickness if the trade-off was improved battery life ... no that stupid Apple add-on battery pack/case is not the answer.

My anger stems from the fact that when the iPhone 7 comes out, I will be forced to stay with the iPhone 6s, why, because I'm not going to carry yet another "converter". Since the ubiquitous headphone/mic jack is so incredibly universal across virtually all phone/tablet/laptop/music player manufacturers, it's one of the few standards that "just work", but it appears Apple is going to screw with that great standard too.

Sorry MR no one confirmed anything. Unnamed sources is not confirmation.
As soon as I read 'Wall Street Journal' I figured that was confirmation enough. Apple wants to create some three-months-to-go marketing buzz and this is one of their favourite rags.

In case you ever get tired of converting to Apple Lossless and maintaining DMB tapes in your iTunes Library...I have taken to using the App "Vox" and manually copying the entire taper folder (FLACs, md5, and all) to the iPhone, via iTunes.

I usually re-tag using the Mac App "Yate" first, but beyond that I save a lot of time.
P.S. Vox also has a nice Mac App too for playing FLACs.
That sounds good, I'll check it out.

In spite of the highly anticipated 2017 iPhone8, the 7 as speculated above (especially the larger 5.5" Plus) is still a worthwhile upgrade imho, but it depends a lot on your financial situation of course.....

Based upon the rumors so far, next year's iPhone8 could shatter all previous iPhone sales records though.

I'm so happy Apple is bumping up the iPhone 7 from starting at 16gb to 32gb.

At all AT&T stores in my experience, they always carry last year's model only in the smallest size. That's how I ended up with a 16gb iPhone 4S and how my brother ended up with a 16gb 5S .

Now at least 32gb is more tolerable!

"infamous 16GB base tieroffered since the iPhone 5."

Even the iPhone 4 started with 16 GB. 8GB version came later as a cheaper option.

I believe it was the iPhone 3GS that was the first iPhone to ship with 16GB ($199) 32GB ($299) and then they introduced an 8GB model after making it a free phone.

100 dollar more might be tolerable as well.

People are forgetting that the price is still the big unknown here. I care less if 32GB becomes the new standard if Apple finds a way to jack up the base price, just like they did with the latest iPad, this whole discussion is a one big mute point.

Speculation either way. Apple is expensive for built-in storage, yes, but it is not in a vacuum. There is no possible way I would go with Android over iOS. The expense is worth it, to me.

What airline are you flying that doesn't have power ports?

For me I've been on a few flights in the states over the years. I've been to Ireland a few times. Paris and Hawaii once each. I've never found power ports on my flights. If they were there they hidden them well.

A year?! Looks like it only took a few minutes...

I'm don't have an IPhone and I'm upset with Apple keeping the 16GB phone so long. If Apple would have increased the base storage to 32GB a few years ago my Note 5 would most likely have a 64GB base storage.

There are probably many domestic flights in coach that still don't have them and I've had a few domestic up front that don't but you mentioned international and I can't remember the last one that did not. Maybe it's been a while since those hops to France and Ireland though. They've really amped up in recent years. Domestic flights - even transcontinental - I've never run out of battery and needed to plug in.

And the 32GB base model will be priced at the same point as the 64GB iPhone 6S now.....
Probably somewhere in between the current 16 and 64 gb models. Though I wouldn't hold it past Apple. Think the new iPad Pro also got a price hike?

Next, I expect people to complain about Apple trying to upsell them to the 128 gb model when they just want 64 gb.

Apple trails everyone else, as usual.

Since when has Apple been concerned with being the first to do something? Statistically, being first increases your odds of failure significantly.

The "latest" iPad is a whole different type of iPad and the features it includes necessitate a price increase. When they released the iPad Pro and "jacked up the price," they simultaneously dropped the price of the existing iPad Air 2 (which is still a great device) by $100. The iPhone SE is also the cheapest iPhone ever sold. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of the base 32gb iPhone 7 was actually $50 cheaper, making it $599.

I wish Apple wold offer the iPhone in:

2TB
4TB
6TB

My iMac holds 3TB. Until the iPad can hold the same or more, it can't be classified as replacing a desktop, never mind a multitude of other reasons.

Do you understand how storage technology works? You're talking about the difference between hard drives and flash storage. If the iPhone had 2TB of flash storage, it would likely cost in excess of $2000. Not to mention that flash storage isn't even able to be that large while fitting inside a phone.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 32gb base model. Heck, my Nexus 5 has/had 32gb of internal storage (which can't be expanded upon) and it lasted me for 3 years (before I upgrade to an iPhone 7 or the upcoming Nexus)). The reason why 32gb is plenty is because all my music (around 13,000 songs) are stored in the cloud (more precisely Google Play Music). My storage mainly goes to Videos (movies and music videos) and apps. Pictures are also stored in the cloud. I still have around 11gb left. I consider myself a bit of a heavy user. I don't see what you would need more storage than 32 gb honestly. I think anything past 64gb of internal storage is overkill or just bragging rights to your friends.
