Bad news everyone, O2 have failed to secure a shipment of any 16gb 3G iPhone's until as late as the 25th of July, and even then numbers will be only limited.

Thanks to O2, in the UK at least, this has been the single worst launch of an Apple product ever.

That would be the worst O2 launch of an Apple product.

Apple store is selling them as fast as they can, barring the rate limiting step of O2...

If you're on simpiicity plan, it might be time to get your PAC code...

May be mid-August before there is enough stock of 16gbs to go round.

This is terrible :( My last iPhone broke and I was waiting for the 3G to upgrade, now I don't have a phone for maybe a month :(

Not entirely true - if Apple can keep their own stores in stock, they could ship stock to O2. Apple have to take some of the blame for the current inability for existing owners to upgrade.

It's also Apples fault for choosing such a bunch of incompetents to be their exclusive partner in this country.

The biggest thing O2 are directly responsible for is last Monday's fiasco, a general lack of useful information (and occasionally, supplying misinformation) and the continued lack of online ordering.

It's a farce, but it's jointly the fault of both Apple and O2.

If I remember correctly, I was told by CW in Lincoln that they werent expected to receive the White iPhone till September/October.

Considering that they only have a couple of 16GB Blacks to start with, it wouldn't surprise me.

Another imp! :D

Any news on whether they'll have any 8GB at any time soon? My mate and gf both want one...

well well, im from lincoln too
Im goin to the 02 store on friday morning at the waterside, anyone wants to join me, go for it.

This is utter crap, sorry to say.
02, wake up, push harder and smell the bloody coffee! And Apple -- i love you but unless you release more stock for upgrades I'm going to put a DELL sticker in my 'old' iphone!

Strange.. a lot of people are receiving their 16GB phones tomorrow from orders placed last week...

I believe that it's a different story for 16GB phones in store which are not likely to materialise soon (rumour rumour)

Who knows. I wouldn't put any more faith in O2's latest statement than anything else they've said during the launch. They might not have phones for order (or in store) for a month, or they might have a million units turn up next week.

Nothing we can do but sit and wait and see what happens.

Personally if phones are available in the next week or two I'll get one, after that (unfortunately before O2's current estimate, so perhaps unlikely) I'm off on holiday and by the time I get back I might just give the whole thing a miss for a while and see if a 32 gig model turns up.

Im with you bud! im sick of this rubbish, if this was a true partnership between o2 and apple, they would allow upgrades at apple stores at least or transfer stock.

Why thanks to O2? O2 can only sell what theyre given. If Apple dont give them sufficient stock of iPhones, how is it their fault?

Stock levels

My boss just went to the local store to ask another question, not about stock, and they said the had quite a few in store but not selling as they still can't activate fully. MAD!

That was what my boss went in for as his Wi-Fi (ie Cloud and BT Openzone) and Visual Voicemail still aren't working (bolt-ons as it is a business tariff) and was told that they haven't processed all the business orders yet as they can't get access on the system to get full contract details on!

At least there is a daily updated list of stores, looks like its a trip to Meadowhall for me as well and a 8GB phone...if they would just have better EDGE coverage in Sheffield, I would skip the 3G but just today I waited ages to get a Google Map to load...

+1

I know that O2 made a bit of a hash last week but how can low stocks be the fault of O2? It would've been the same situation no matter who was dealing with it.

Apple need to stop hoarding. Simple.

Anyone else think they could be discontinuing the 8GB?

I could see this being something happening soon, but i dont think they would completely discontinue it seeing as they have just released the 3G... maybe intro a 32GB iPhone and phase out 8GB from now til xmas....

I think the new product will be either a new mac mini/:apple:TV or new notebooks.....
