No battery was still 95% healthy, the first one that they replaced. I had used that iPhone 7 for 9 months. Then the ‘problem’ occured since november.

The other phones were 100% healthy (battery).

They didn’t tell me what the problem was after I did send the sys files to the enigineerings team. They only said that they needed to replace my phone at the Apple store. And so I did (3 times..). But the exact same problem occurs on all the replacements. And I didn’t use a back up every time. I even used it without logging in into iCloud and it occured too. So that’s why I think it has to do with the iOS. Also because it started in november on iOS 11.1.? it was I think?

That is why the problem is an app or a setting. Engineers are trying to sort thru what you send, but if what you send has no clear indication they'll just keep replacing.

For battery to be drained, there has to be something that is draining it. The only thing that can drain a battery like that is a CPU working on something. The battery is just there to provide power as needed.

Also, please tell me your phone isn't in cold ambient as that will also affect battery life.

No i am from the Netherlands. So no cold weather here. This week the first frost (4 degrees ;-) )

In the low batt log was this: mediaserverd: com.apple.audio.VAD and it kept the phone from going to sleep for a lot of hours.
What someone pointed out before.

Don’t know what that is? It was not from an app I downloaded, because I didn’t download any apps yet on the replacement phone.

I'm not sure what file that is or which app or system service pulls it. However, if that service is continuously running, it will drain battery power as the CPU is constantly processing.

But it can be from the iOS itself then, or from a stock app?
Than I can’t do anything about it, than we can only wait for a bug fix?

So, I finally restored the iPhone as new phone and the issue disappeared. I hope it’s a permanent solution.

Apple is aware of this issue and hopefully we’ll see a fix coming soon in an update

Oh hope so!

My battery drained 19% last night after it went well for 3 nights. So I really hope it will get fixed.

How do you know that Apple is aware of the issue?

Even after restoring as new phone and with a minimal set of apps, the problem reocurrs, so this is clearly an iOS bug.

I've also noticed that it could be related to a background audio process as someone said, because apps with highest usage read "audio" under it's name in Settings --> Battery.

A hard reset solves the problem for a few days.

I know this might have been posted here a gazillion times but I haven't found one for the X, which I assumed would not have this problem by now.

My problem is what my thread title states. This started happening just a couple of days ago and I don’t recall doing anything different since. Rebooted my phone a couple of times and it gotten better on the last reboot but after letting it sit overnight last night, it still indicated usage close to the standby time. Checked all apps being used and nothing significant showing.

I now reset my Network Settings and hoping for a better outcome.

Oh, and my phone was acquired on launch day.

Anybody really knows what’s goin on?

Maybe i'm late, but i had same problem. I fixed it and here is my Youtube video how to fix it.

Been having this same issue ever since I downloaded the latest update. Wasn’t happening in the prior versions of iOS 11.

Is there really anyway to fix this other than wait for a new update from Apple?

Didn’t found one yet.
My phones battery was 97% when I went to sleep and was 39% when I woke up, so done with this! And the battery drained whole day, had to recharge twice.. this phone is 1 month old....

Mine is back doing it again. I recalibrated the battery and it went about a month or so. Reset network settings and it came back after a week.

I do not notice any battery drain which is good I guess. I'm not gonna even worry anymore about it unless my battery usage is affected and I do not believe it to be.

Yes when this bug happens usage and standby time are the same (settings -> battery) and the battery drains faster. A restart will fix it temporaly.
i facing the same problem also, so we cant do anything and just wait Apple to fixed the bug ?

Once in a while I get this same usage and standby time issue come back but usually after I fully charge my phone and unplugging it. However, I made an observation that for me that some how it's my wifi issue. If I turn off wifi and the usage stops and they are different and even after I turn wifi back on, issue doesn't come back. Not really a permanent solution but that's what I have to do after each full charge is turn off wifi and turn it back on.

So you turn of WiFi and turn it back on again and then its okay?

Because I always recharge my phone before i go to sleep and then onplug it from the charger. Then I turn of WiFi and turn it back on the next day. But the battery drains at most nights with the usage and stand-by times the same.

Yes for me, turning off wifi and then turning wifi back on fixes the issue, though it's not a permanent fix but it will do. Right now my usage and standby doesn't go up at the same time. and my usage only goes up when I actually use the phone or get notification.

I tried it last night. Turned of WiFi and turned it back on and let it on when I went to sleep. But stand-by time is 7 hours and 9 minutes and usage time too :-( And battery was 100% when I went to sleep and now 76%. So have a empty phone before I’m home today I’m afraid.

My symptoms: iPhone X, iOS 11.2.6, 100% healthy battery, standby time and usage time quickly becomes the same after prolonged usage after charging (after around 2-3 hours), problems been persisting since iOS 11.2 or even 11.1, can't remember clearly

Methods tried which does not work: Turn off location service, auto brightness, background app refresh, enter airplane mode, enter low power mode, deleting YouTube

Methods which work temporarily: reboot, reset network settings

Methods yet to be tried: calibrate battery, deleting app 1 by 1 to see which app might be rogue (highly unlikely, reason given below)

I tried resetting network settings yesterday and it worked for almost 24 hours, then up till today morning the phone is still good, until I arrived at office and charged it for about 20 minutes, and the problem occurred again. Assuming the apps I used from my home till I arrived to my office is one of the rogue app, then it should have went rogue yesterday before I slept since all of the apps have been opened by me yesterday night. (Apps I have used before the usage time goes strange: Youtube, facebook, facebook messenger, teamviewer (rarely use this app, should not be the rogue app), Wechat, default music app, outlook (I have tried offloading this app before but the problem persist)

If there are rogue apps, they got to be inside this small list, or else the symptoms should have occurred earlier

Hey everybody . My X also does the same thing . And i tried the following from another forum .
Go to Settings -----Account and Passwords ----Fetch new data.
I already got Push ----OFF and everything else on MANUAL
BUT the last menu FETCH was set to AUTOMATICALLY ,
SO as soon as i set it to MANUALLY , all good for 6 days already .
So basically you need to turn off Push and set everything on MANUAL in FETCH NEW DATA MENU.
Just give it a try and report back .

I also noticed, that switching itunes accounts between different regions from AppStore app sometimes causes this issue to start ... So hopefully that will be fixed in 11.3.

I just calibrated my battery yesterday, will observe for a while, if the battery goes strange again I will try the push manual method.

P.S. I always switch iTunes account to different region since I have 3 itunes account in 3 different regions lol, if that is causing the problem then it's pretty **** for Apple IMO.

I have try your method, same, issues come again.I have try everything and and seem not really solve this problem.
I think this might be IOS issues

This bug will ultimately have an impact on your battery cycles. Meaning it won’t last as long as designed anymore because it keeps draining.

I am a lucky one. Only had this issue twice and dissapeared for weeks after a reboot. It only happens after charging to a 100 percent by cable. Don’t have this issue when I charge wirelessly.

I have seen this on my X too, but in my case it seems to be just a strange bug in the battery usage display.

In my case the battery isn’t draining abnormally when this happens.
