He meant the side bezels..
Why would someone just look at the side bezels?
He meant the side bezels..
What I don't understand about the X, is why the heck do they call it bezeless? It has pretty big bezels on the side and would have looked much better if the sides were bezeless like the Note 8. They are almost as big as the previous gen....
Front facing camera in the bottom corner of the phone. Haha. No thanks..Why are people always using Samsung phones to compare with iPhones? Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 looks pretty good. No burger.

OTOH Apple's use of the dog ears is a design compromise, ...
Because iPhone X will be the same design for at least 2-3 (if not 4) years. Apple has gotten so lazy in terms of doing design innovations it takes forever while Samsung comes up with more innovative designs about every year and improve on it.
Just look how long the iPhone 6 design has been around. 4 years now and they call it 'iPhone 8'.

I'd prefer that over the notch. At least it can flipped over when taking selfies.Front facing camera in the bottom corner of the phone. Haha. No thanks..

And if you want dual cameras, there's the Vernee Mix 2 with a 6 inch QHD AMOLED display. It may not be an Android flagship but we are talking about displays and its only $193. So Apple is raping people with there "bezel-less" display when cheaper smartphone manufacturers can offer it at a much cheaper price range.

How is having a full width bezel better than having a notch?
Sorry to say...in terms of designs...Samsung did it Right......its no denying it. The iphone X looks like a hideous fisher price toy with a case already built in LOL.

A: that’s only your opinion, and not fact
B: are you even capable of making a post without including the word Samsung in it? Or is that in your contract with them to do so?
Sorry to say...in terms of designs...Samsung did it Right......its no denying it. The iphone X looks like a hideous fisher price toy with a case already built in LOL. And yes I only compare the iPhone X to the S8 since they both have 5.8 inch displays while the Note 8 is in a league of its own.

Its a fact by most people so its a fact.
The OP is most certainly NOT the only one. I see nothing impressive about the iPhone X personally. I agree that the recent Samsungs are way ahead in the styling department. Regardless it says Apple so it will sell like hot cakes but not to me.You are one person who wasn't wowed. For every one of you, there are ten who are impressed.

The iPhone X bezels go to the edges. The other phone’s do not.
The moment someone unveils a phone that is trully all screen on the front (no notch or bezel), is also the exact moment that phones will be considered a commodity.
If every phone produced is just 100% screen on one side and some variation of metal or glass on the back, then they lose a bit of unique character.
We have been seeing this with televisions for a decade now.
They should’ve made the bezels thick enough around the display to accommodate ‘the notch’. Symmetry is so so important in design. How Apple missed this is a mystery to me.
Its the first time they didn’t think about symmetry. That notch can’t be unseen.
Such a shame to ruin what could have been an edge to edge spacious and beautiful display. One look at the gorgeous display of the LG V30 is proof positive of what’s possible when you employ skilled designers. Apple blew it.
The notch in the screen looks terrible, very un-apple like. It’s hard to believe they released something that looks like this instead of making the screen straight across under the sensors.
I can’t get past the “devil horns” on the model X. How could they make such an obvious design mistake?

What did you EXPECT him to say???
"Uhhh, we really wanted to use Touch ID, but we couldn't figure out how to make it work under the screen in time to launch it this year so we're giving you the only alternative we could get to work in such a short time: Face ID"???
Of COURSE they are going to try and hype Face ID. They'd be idiotic not to. It's the security feature they had to use on their flagship phone.
And yes, they "had to". They didn't "want to" no matter how badly Mr. "I lost my ability to design somewhere around October of 2011" Ive wants to try and sell it. They wanted to integrate Touch ID under the OLED screen. That would have been cutting edge. That was (documented) what they wanted to do.
They failed.
Face ID will be fine, but the rhetoric that it was always their first choice is patently silly. Would you rather have Face ID (and all of it's potential issues, even if none of them come to pass) or Touch ID integrated under the screen? Taking up NONE of your front real estate and using technology that has been rock solid for years...
Anyone that says Face ID is being dishonest. It will work, and it'll probably be just as convenient, but it was a "last resort" and absolutely is the consolation prize we got so they could get the X to market this year.
And where did you get such solid information from? Your post sounds like your had a 1 to 1 with Johnny Ive over a pint.
Why are people always using Samsung phones to compare with iPhones? Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 looks pretty good. No burger.
