They don't do it because if they damage it, they can't replace it. With the ones they sell, if something goes wrong they will replace it with a new one. Seems logical to me.

ya but you only need it for a year.(assuming you upgrade yearly like me) and you get a pack of 2. i haven't needed to order a second pack in a year time frame yet. So $8 a year that does its job sounds good to me...

I got ZAGG $40 but worth it because of the lifetime replacements

ya but what happens when the phone changes. Like from the 7+ to the X, does it give you the X model and on for every model for life?

They don't go to the edges, even of the actual display, so will probably look like crap on the X IMO

The Belkin that Apple installed for the 6S fit perfectly to the edge of the display. The protector for the 7 is the one that had this issue. Belkin admitted this issue and even sent me a refund check in the mail.

I am hoping they corrected their mistake for the X. I ordered the amFilm from amazon already just in case.

If you have a 7+ and want an X screen protector you can still get it but they charge $10 so still not bad. Just send them your old one back.

amFilm sells a 3 pack on Amazon for $6.79, free shipping with prime. You would need to break 17+ amFilm protectors to make the $40 Zagg worth it just because they offer a lifetime replacement. Not to mention Zagg charges a small shipping fee for the replacement also so the cost is even more.

So they will charge you for every different model type you want, i see. so next year when X+ comes out another $10?

i’ve never broken a screen but i have applecare in case i do i guess. for me, screen protectors are unnecessary.

They are very necessary if you don't want to scratch it, pockets, drop it in dirt etc....Its not just cracking a screen its the scratch's too.

i hear you, i just don’t drop in dirt, scratch the glass or carry in pockets with random diamonds, files and rusty bolts. haha. this scratching/breaking screen thing is something i’ve never come across... granted i am not a kid and since i pay for these things i take pretty good (not obsessive) care of them.

Well, in the case of the belkin, it is made of Gorilla Glass 2. Show me a 10 dollar screen protector that is made of gorilla glass and I'll buy it.

You mean like the $50 Zagg sapphire glass protector that turned out to be BS? Dont buy into the hype more expensive=better.

The protector is to absorb the basic impact and scratches instead of the display. The Gorilla glass 2 is going to break LONG before the Gorilla Glass 5 (or equivalent) on the phone. No protector will prevent a shatter of the display with enough force on it from a drop to shatter the 5 in the display; simple physics.

I bought the blackweb screen protector from Walmart for my 6. It comes with a tray that aligns the phone for a perfect bubble free application. I am very pleased with it. It doesn't go all the way to the slanted edge of the screen, but it fits flush on the edges of the screen protector. No evidence of any lifting at all.

Exactly.

I run a glass screen protector and bumpered case to protect against all of the below...

Scratches
Cracks
Dents
Dings

Any other damage not mentioned above.

It totally blows my mind how people drop $1000 on a device and then go cheese mode when it comes to protecting it.

Well i have kids who always grab it, i play softball and Rugby so always in dirt. Plus for you to say you have never dropped or scratch a screen is saying you're the most perfect person in the world...lol...accident's happen and to EVERYBODY!! lol

to me armoring a piece of industrial design like an iphone is like wrapping your porsche in bubble wrap. you’re paying a premium for the design, the form factor, the materials, the feel of it in your hand. to make clear phone calls. so for me, i don’t live buying an expensive of artwork and storing it in the safe so to speak.

dude i just went to Great America and had my phone in my pocket on a ride that holds you upside down for 45 seconds 100 feet up. i felt it slip out and fly towards the ground. ahhhhh i was like bye bye. The case saved my life, it hit the concrete slab in the waiting area and didn't have a scratch or crack on the screen. The Spigen case saved my life. It did have the smallest dent on the corner of metal housing. But other than that i was spared. Wow i got so lucky, and this was a month ago>>>lol

Thats true, i do miss the look and feel. But that is why color doesn't matter and can go after the less saught after option...lol

That's the one I use.

The phone is protected... and the case doesn't interfere with use.

Not bad for $8.

As said it amazes me how people drop $1000 on a device and go cheese mode on protecting it. But hey, that's what Applecare is for I guess. I wouldn't know though... I've always bought the $8 cases and never bought Applecare.

I think I've saved a little bit of money over the years.

No one needs screen protectors.

After I had gotten my iPhone 4 I went to a store that sells Apple products (no official Apple store here) and he said they didn't sell it because it's not needed on the iPhones.

So I've walked around with the iPhone 4 naked in my pants pockets ever since, with keys and loose change. No scratches. When or if the iPhone 4 dies I'll not put a screen protetor on my next phone. But will perhaps buy a bumper case, since two years ago I dropped it and the back shattered.

So, I agree; with gorilla glass a screen proctector isn't needed.

Sand is everywhere and it has the same hardness as glass, so it will scratch it. Just 1 grain is all it takes and sand is everywhere (not just the beach), like in most people's pockets. It's the most common mineral on Earth.

Heh... that's why my phone stays in a ziplock bag at work.

That's a cutting nozzle next to sand which in this case is 80 grit garnet used by an abrasive waterjet. The garnet mixes with the jet stream (at 55k PSI) and it will cut metal 6+ inches thick.

It's in the air and all over everything at the shop.

Don't need it getting all over the phone. Ziplock does the job.

So if you're like me OP you'll be fine with the Zagg's glass. It's great! :)

Thats the great thing about a discussion board. Everyone can share an opinion or concern and OP can make their own decisions. Though, there will always be that one use who insists on shoving their opinion on everyone else.

LOL... says the guy who posts that the product isn't worth buying because it cracks when it's on a phone that is in his pocket.

Yep... that's EXACTLY how the product was intended to be used! Would those be tight fitting jeans or loose fitting?

Nobody here is forcing their opinion on anyone... but there is always that guy who doesn't use a product as its designed and then posts that it's of poor quality. They're all over Amazon too... flooding the place with garbage 1 star reviews.

I always go with belkin from the Apple store. They have a machine that will install it perfectly in seconds with no bubbles or anything. Can’t even tell I have one on my 7 plus. Looks flawless

+1 for Belkin @apple.

Hope they have it ready for launch day. Want to get one slapped on the X ASAP.

I said every day use. You are the one who cherry picked my comment. Going in a pocket, brushing against keys, fumbling with a charging cable. Or just picking it up from the edge and applying pressure. All these things consist every day use and probably many others I haven't listed.

They type of jeans i wear is irrelevant because the environmental circumstance go beyond just that. Additionally, my wardrobe isn't limited to just jeans. That's an assumption you made. It's not a 1/5 situation. I just said it wasn't worth the investment as the added value / protection doesn't seem to be that substantial. You could get similar results for any off brand protector at a fraction of the cost.

I said every day use.

Whatever man... stopped reading there and not interested in debating your reasons for such a poor review.

Go to Zagg and ask them if their glass screen protector is designed to (as you put it in your first post) "crack NOT FROM DROPPING but from going in and out of a pocket."

Of course it's not.

Have a nice weekend. :)
