With the screen I think you can argue either way, there are benefits to the LCD panel over the OLED - this I would say is very much a personal preference thing. As far as the cameras go, if it was a 3x zoom lens, I'd probably agree with those saying it's a considerable advantage. At 2x it's of pretty debatable benefit over just digital zoom. The stainless build, frosted glass and thinner profile are probably the biggest difference - a more premium feel in the hand. If you have it in a case though, again you're not even going to tell...

Totally agree

I’d go for the Pro again in a heartbeat for the smaller size alone. Hell I’d probably pay 500 extra for it. Problem is Apple knows I’m that weak and that’s why we have this price gap.

Lmao

The OLED and third camera is nice but for me the main thing is the size. The 5.8 pro just fits in my pocket and hand better. If both phones were the same size I would save the money and get the 11, it's a great phone.

Yep I’m in the same boat. To me $300 isn’t worth it BUT I much prefer the form factor of the Pro. However I’m not going to spend and extra $300 just because....I’ll hold off this year.

I hear you. Next year should be very interesting too, not that it isn’t this year.

I upgrade every year because I feel like having a phone more than a year causes it to lose value. I take any amount that is more than $600 value apple is offering. This year I got $950 for my XS Max 256gb then added $400 to it to get my iPhone 11 Pro Max 256gb. Next year I will do the same. I will consider upgrading next year because of it been the first gen of the new phones. I prefer second and third gens

I think you guys are very sensitive. This isn’t a hostile thread, we’re just discussing it. I have seen many good points personally. But I genuinely do not see the $300 gain personally. If you do then more power to you, we’re just discussing. There’s no need to be on the defensive. And for the record (as well as to make some of y’all feel a bit better about this thread), the pro models are clearly better than the non pro one, that’s not what we’re discussing because there’s no debate there. The question is is the price difference justified TO YOU. Personal opinion. Share it and don’t be butthurt

The original post ask is it $300 better? Who determines that? The buyer.

Is the $300 difference justified? Yes because if justified means a right or reasonable action or in this case a purchase then the buyer has determined that the price difference is justified solely based on the fact that they purchased it.

See I’m not thinking is my Max Pro $300 better than my friends 11 or can I justify the price difference. I’m thinking this is the device I wanted.

I kept the 11 pro and 11 pro max, returned the 11. It’s a $400 or so difference for me I went with the 256 models but after using it for a few days now, I am happy with the 11 pro OVER the 11. Reason being are the cameras on the pro > base 11 - the extra 2x gives me macro shots up to 2x and overall build/display in outdoor (much brighter than the regular 11) was the selling point for me.

the base 11 is much larger and the bezels and size with a case on was just too big but comfortable to view! The 11 pro display takes some time to get use to because it’s smaller but the display is sharper in my eyes and contrast is definitely better and again, the brightness outdoors is the biggest deal break on the base 11.

Yes the buyer determines that hence why I asked for ppl to share their opinion :)

I respect that.

I found it extremely difficult to purchase the 11 pro and the max considering the price tag for a “phone”. I have many samsung devices and most run just as good as the new iphone 11s. I switch sims frequently so it doesn’t matter to me I am not using just one phone like most people do. So I am not on either side of the fence nor do I need to defend against a particular brand. BUT I will tell you that after using apple and android for over a decade and before buying the new iPhone 11s, I will just say the following:

Apple can make an older device like my older iPHone SE 64GB blaze and I bought that in I recall summer of 2015 or 2016 I don’t remember but it absolutely keeps up with my older s9+ phones! I mean browsing websites to messaging, all works! For one of my older devices which is sim unlocked, I have to actually switch to a verizon sim just so i can get an OTA update. It’s absolutely dog sheat to have to do this just to update your phone. That’s why I bought iphone 11’s now just because I know these samsung devices suck when it comes to updates. Absolutely terrible. And the best thing is I can get service with apple any time I want. With samsung? Good luck I’ve had extremely bad service/lack of service when I needed it. These are dumpster phones really. No good trade in value either!

Anyway, the selling points were the stainless steel frame and displays. The LCD on the regular 11 is nice and you are really hard pressed to fault it but it’s nice and big but lacks OLED punch if you’ve com from oled for many years. The most annoying thing is the lack of the 2x because the 26mm is just too wide and too weak for up close macro shots - the distance for focusing is atrocious! The 2x in the pro line just makes it spectacular for up close shots of things.

The only thing I can swallow from these expensive expenditures is the longevity of these phones and I know I will be keeping them for many years to come. The iphone 11 is a great phone but for the value you get I don’t think so - 800p LCD display in 2019 coupled with battery life that is not as good as the pro line and again, no 2x optical, no OLED - for me the $400 or more was justified. But would I do this again next year? My mind is telling me NOOOOOO, but my body is telling me yes, lol.

I will when I get home, will get my girlfriend’s iPhone 11 pro and compare. Thanks man

Wait, wait, before you do, make sure you’re in a pitch black room. The difference will blow your mind!

Then play this one second and the OLED argument will be all over! 😋

Even then unless you are max brightness on a pitch black background you will be hard pressed to see a difference - the 800p panel apple has calibrated is just really, really good. But if you are trained to view OLED displays, you can see the sharpness differences between the 11 and 11 pro and most importantly the contrast differences. Otherwise most people will not be able to tell the difference. You need them side by side to actually see and then you will have to LOOK REALLY HARD for the details! By then you’ll just say to yourself this LCD is good enough! FOr me, the 800p reality is a no-go...not for the $749+tax!

- Size (5.8' i.e. smaller)
- Screen (Oled vs LCD)
- Battery life
- Extra telephoto lens
- Look and feel / Build quality

These are all the reasons that I had in mean for choosing the iPhone 11 Pro

Actually forgot one :)

- Fast charger in the box!

So for me here are 6 points that justify the price difference.

Indeed this is really a personal performance, but for me these extras justify my purchase against the iPhone 11.

Loollllll bro I know that already. But I’ll never use my phone like that by comparing it constantly to another. I’m an android guy and have been using Oled for years, and I’m coming from a note 10 and one plus 7 pro lol. there’s nothing that will surprise me hahahahaha

You’re right, most people won’t be able to discern the difference between 283 PPI iPhone 11 16:9 and the 440 PPI iPhone 11 Pro 16:9 unless you hold the phones extremely close to your face.

But what they will notice is the insane contrast ratio and color, let alone that 1,205 nits of brightness these new panels are capable of with HDR. You just can’t unsee the difference and the LCD’s backlight will forever be there for that average user in the dark going forward. Is it worth $300-400? Heck no! Who cares really, except for the occasional tech geek here and there. 😋

That argument can be made when looking at it from a 2018 android perspective for example. Ppl bought the iPhone XS Max for $1099.... with a 64gig base storage and a 5amp charger. That is unacceptable I don’t care what anybody says. So it all depends on what works for you but to me that’s almost an insult. I say that because I guess that’s partly what gave me the idea to start this thread.

Man what can you do? I mean either you buy into the apple iphone or you don’t. My last iphone was the iPhone SE when they had that insane jony ives introduce iOS 7 it was over for me. The thinness and the antenna bands of the iPhone 6 was just nasty. Never liked apple since.

BUT you cannot argue the build quality of the new iPhones are just bar none more legit than any android phone. I know the Note 10+ is all the rage but for me I’m done with their curved bull **** screens that I cannot even find a good glass protector to cover (Except for the dome brand ones which require uv glue).

iOS 13 brought me back to even an iPad Pro - even knowing how weak their frame design is I still got one because of iOS 13. They fired that jony ives and good riddance! Finally more sense back at apple to increase their phone thickness to accommodate more battery. And speaking of battery I was truly surprised how a small 3200mah battery can smoke even the note 10+’s huge battery!

The 64GB storage is just ludicrous without microSD support but then again what you gonna do? You either give in and buy one and pay more for storage or you don’t and stick with the competitions. Apple will never change their high margin strategies, never.

I totally disagree. You definitely can argue that the note 10+ has better build and design. In fact in terms of design I think the note 10 is leaps and bounds ahead of the iPhone 11/pro/pro max. Just remember that I own an iPhone 11 as my main device so no fanboyism here lol. When the 11 series leaked ppl called it ugly lets not forget that.

Apple won’t change their strategy because they are smart. They know that they have a mainstream following that will buy whatever therefore they can get away with almost anything. I don’t blame them for that. But ppl are holding on to their devices longer nowadays.

I was about to buy a note 10+ probably 2 weeks before iphone 11 debuted. Even after that I said f it I was not too interested in an iphone anyway because my iPad Pro is serving fine with ios 13.1 Beta 3. It wasn’t until I got the pro max first, then the iphone 11 and just fell back in love lol. I know the note 10+ is awesome there is not a bit of doubt but damn I couldn’t do it - could not fork over $1100 for that phone knowing what I know about samsung sim unlocked phones on tmobile haha. NEver again I said to myself and so I went for the iphone 11 myself..then got the 11 pro and stuck with the 11 pro.

For me personally I like using multiple phones but it’s at the point in this time period I cannot justify paying $1000+ for phones haha. I’m happy with my 11 pro for now. The max belongs to the spouse but she uses that monster for everything.

Same thing I said! The $700 price tag is where the robbery comes in. The iPhone 11 itself is a rip off at that price with no 1080p which is tech standard. htc produced the first 1080p droid DNA in 2012 and I don't even think the phone was $699 on release lol. Anyone getting rob is the iPhone 11 buyers ! Taking away from customers is bad
