Apple isnt slipping one bit, they are right on time and if you want to be honest, may be at one of their highest points with a new product like in the iWatch and then the beastly Mac Pro. They are on target and are where I personally predicted them to be.

With the RAM issue, yeah we may want to have 3 or go GB of RAM but when you actually look at android, how much of that RAM is actually free to the user? You have these horrible interfaces like TouchWiz from Samsung thats taking up 1.8GB alone and now you have about the same amount the iPhone has so we are back to sqaure one.

The bending issue, please look at how much stress you have to put the phone to in order to bend it?! Im pretty sure you can give me any phone and with my full potention and strength I would be able to bend a phone or possibly break it.

Every new version of iOS will be buggy, we already know Apple isnt going to sit around and let their stuff be buggy, they want perfection and im sure we will see soon updates and the apps to be optimized for the bigger screens and all these negaive threads would go right away.

Waiting on my 6 plus preorder here. My current phone however is a galaxy s4. On my s4 the phone just uses slightly over and under 1gb of it's 2gb of ram. So a lot more of that is free than you are suggesting. At least on my android.

Good gawd. The drama kings are out in full force.

Apple's history began in the 20th century. Might want to brush up on it before calling anything that happened in the past few months Apple's "darkest moment."

And the crowing by "Androiders" is nothing compared to the abuse that Apple used to routinely take from the PC/Windows crowd.

Well what I should have said is that's their darkest moment since I became an Apple fan, and that is when the first good smartphone was announced.
And about the crows, luckily enough I wasn't around to see that happen with the windows. But Android fanboys (AKA Apple haters) have a special place in my heart (not in the good way) and this issue is feeding them. And all of their complaints, for the first time, are relevant.

they just sold 10M iphones, any other phone co wishes they had such dark moments.

apple is an evil empire just like almost all huge corps. they are making so much money they dont give a damn about individual customer satisfaction. i hope it will be their eventual downfall.

companies like amazon, costco, nordstrom that take the viewpoint that customer is always right are the ones i hope survive and prosper.

Personally, this hasn't been my experience. One example: Earlier this year my mac suffered a graphics failure a few weeks after applecare had expired. A supervisor took a look at my situation and said "I think we can just take care of this, your warranty just expired."

(And there have been lots of stories in the news recently about Amazon's exploitative policies towards its employees. Low prices are great, but...)

I think lots of people around here forget that the vast majority of the planet does not read tech blogs.

I partly agree about the screens. But who cares. iPhone's display is still gorgeous and definitely not behind the competition..

Everyone cares, the word innovation means that Apple should have had a 3D screen that can project a laser keyboard onto a surface 3 years ago! :D

Like I said, Android is small boil compared to the cancer that was Windows. After Windows95 came out, long-time Mac developers defected. The situation was so bad that a lot of the PC crowd started pulling their punches because they felt sorry for Apple. At that time, not too many people expected the company to survive intact. Sun and Oracle and others supposedly had their eye on Apple as a takeover target. And the company was burning through its cash reserves at a rate that would have landed them in bankruptcy in a matter of months. Anything you see Apple doing right now needs to be filtered through the lens of their long-time executives having gone through that kind of near-death experience.

When Apple started licensing Mac OS to third party box builders, sales slightly picked up, but Apple lost their profits in the process because their own Mac sales nosedived.

Android? Just another competitor. iOS is not on the verge on some great developer exodus, and the platform accounts for the lion's share of the profits in the mobile industry -- developers go to where the money is, and iOS is how they make more money. That situation won't change because of a botched OS update that Apple will fix in the next few days, or because of manufactured issues that the blogosphere magnifies into some crisis.

People pretty much said the same thing about the iPhone in 2007... the cellular phone was in existence for 20 years then.

But the original iPhone was nothing like any other phone on the market. The iWatch, as it is, is not much different than the others out already.

reasonable response, i cant argue with you.

A legitimate concern...be prepared to be blasted by the forum..telling you to get a new phone or telling you there are no issues for them.

Good luck

Mostly deserving because the subject title is so grandiose and over the top. If it was a more on topic title, reasonable debate might be had.

Not even close to the darkest moment....this is just proving that they aren't infallable. If anything, the reaction to a small percentage of bent iphones is proof positive that anything and everything apple does is big news...good or bad. Competitors are going to jump on apple and kick it while it's down but ultimately apple is, and will continue to be, the market mover. They're not coming down anytime soon. Notice how videos showing that the iphone 6 doesn't bend are NOT being shown? No one cares about what works...everyone cares about what doesnt.

I actually think this ios 8.0.1 release was way worse than the issue of bent iphones. How in god's name could they let something like that come out? That was amateurish at best.

I don't own an iphone 6 plus (had one, didn't like how big it was, returned it) but if i put the item in my back pocket AND SAT ON IT then i deserve to have a damaged phone. I would never do that with any phone. As far as front pockets go, if your pants are so tight that they can bend metal then perhaps it's time to reassess. :p

seriously???? apparently 10 million iphones sold in three days and apparently millions still in preorder...i hope every year is as darkest as this year for apple.

They all will very but I remember when I had my Note 3 on Touchwiz it took up the majority of the RAM space with all my apps closed. I know Touchwiz is getting more optimized but still I do not prefer it. So when I run android I run pure android, thats why my second device is my OnePlus One.

An "issue" is only an issue if it happens to, get this, MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY, phone, and MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY MY, phone only.

Worrying about a couple reports of problems people post on an Internet forum is not going to let you just buy and enjoy your devices the way they were meant to be enjoyed.

If an issue arises with your own personal device made by Apple, contact them or bring your device in as they are one of the best companies on the planet at making sure that device will work the best it can.

What's happening in these boards from a mere few instances is amazing. It's mass hysteria that is finally pouring over our MacRumors borders into the "real world".

Let's just enjoy our toys like in the past and quit obsessing over perceived problems.

As a person who has purchased the iphone 6 plus 128gb I have a right to speak about this as a customer.

Apple has had 2 years to perfect the design, the cpu, ram, screen they are all old technology. Of course iOS is unique to them. However you paint it, all other phones are not bending (including the iphone 6) where as the plus is.

In terms of design people including me are still complaining about the antenna bands because no other apple product has them, they are thick and look amateurish.

People have been wanting more than 1gb of ram, and the very COMMON tab reloading issue has been identified as a memory limitation. This is annoying when competitor phones have 3gb of ram now.

My understanding is all manufacturers subject their devices through numerous and thorough stress tests. Samsung do this without doubt and there are even videos showing this. The question that arises is why wasnt this bending issue noted by the quality control team?

I dont even want to talk about the ios8 issues. I simply do not understand why there are so many issues, the hardware is pretty much the same as before, 64 bit dual core, just smaller and clocked slightly higher. iOS 8 is pretty much similar to iOS7. Again why wasnt this tested?

iPhone brings 70% of Apple's income. There have been bad iphone situations like the antenna problem and 5s shortage etc but in its somewhat short history I dont remember a situation this appalling.

One has to ask, are Apple...Slipping?

1. You knew the specs before you bought it.
2. Are you an RF engineer? if not you have no place to talk about the need for the bands. I am an RF engineer and can assure you they are functionally needed. Other apple products do have them. the ipod touch has a plastic cutout in the back for wireless transmissions. The ipad with LTE has a large bar behind it to allow the LTE frequency to get through. if they were not there you would be complaining about how bad the reception is.
4. you have seen a handful of people on the net talk about the "bending isssue". they sold 10 million even is 100,000 people had this problem it would be 1% miniscule.
5. the software stuff is just that. software, easily fixed. yes it should not happen but does not constitute their "darkest hour."
6. EVERY COMPANY has issues with a newly released product. It is called being man made. Apple for some reason is not afforded the tolerance other companies are afforded. There is always the the option of not buying it. I hate galaxy screens. I think they have a pink hue. I dont go online slamming them for it. I just dont buy it.

I find it lame for videos to come out of someone using two hands to "purposely" bend an iPhone or someone who complained here that the phone was sitting in their front pocket for a total of "18 hours". I don't think any of us would purposely bend our iPhone, let alone ANY phone or keep their phone in their pocket for a total of 18 hours. What'd you expect from a thinner phone? People need to stop feeding the hype. Apple's designs of phones are always a positive. Darkest hour? :D

But the original iPhone was nothing like any other phone on the market. The iWatch, as it is, is not much different than the others out already.

We don't know that yet. We don't know what capabilities the second or third generation watch will bring. The first generation iphone did not have an App Store and there were plenty of phones before that could browse the web and play music.

Might I suggest, as you are so unhappy with your iPhone 6 plus, that you return it for a full refund? You are well within the 2 weeks that Apple gives you to do so.

See...I totally agree with you. Why do people come onto message boards & crucify the product, when all they have to do it take the phone back and get what they want?

Why did you upgrade to 8.0.1 so fast? Isn't it wise to wait a bit to see what the bugs are, and to avoid any issues (like this time) that there were?

The bending issue is BS, period. If your phone is bent, it's because you wedged it into your too-small front pocket of your too-tight jeans...or you wedged into the too-tight rear pocket of said jeans and sat on it. The phone is a unibody aluminum construction. Hollow aluminum WILL BEND. Use your brain. And there are those trolls that are actually saying their phones were bent right out of the box...really? How stupid can some be?

OP...Apple still builds cutting edge products that many of us enjoy, but there are more products on the market that might be a better choice for you. Pretty simple isn't it? Instead of bashing a brand...go to another one. You'll have "fresh meat" to bash all you want that way! :)

On the contrary its Apple's glorious moment....you are a nonentity if you're not talked about:p, it makes their products even more popular albeit with a few glitches but so what!;)

I honestly believe the bending issue is a complete non issue. Maybe I'm wrong to believe that, but this seems like another completely media fabricated issue because a handful of people on the internet bent their phones. We have no idea if these phones really bent in a front pocket or not.

iOS 8 on the other hand has been a train wreck. Healthkit and 8.0.1 alone make this the worst iOS launch ever for them. That is for certain.

I'd still say iOS 6 and Maps were worse than iOS 8, until yesterday. Healthkit being delayed is one thing. It's right that they delayed it rather than foist it upon us before it was ready like they did with Maps. But releasing an update that crippled cellular capabilities was inexecusable. There's no way that should have gotten past their QA.

"Bendgate" is much ado about nothing. Other phones might not bend, but still have damage in similar tests. The HTC One M8 "passed" the bend test even as its screen popped out.

No.. my Black iPhone 5 was Apple's darkest moment. Now the moments are only Space Grey..

Don't think it's their darkest moments. But there are alot of unhappy people with their products right now.

I don't believe that's true. I believe millions of customers are perfectly happy, and a fraction of a fraction of a percent are having issues.

Don't think it's their darkest moments. But there are alot of unhappy people with their products right now.

Please share your data backing up your "a lot" statement.

Seems there are about 10 people with bent phones. Out of untold millions sold. You do the math.

Dark days? :D

Check out the stock price and how many millions of these things they've sold and it hasn't even been on the market a week yet guy.

Bendgate=stupid gate, as in stupid customers. See the real pressure test on YouTube? Other phones bend too.
