If this is True, I’m going to purchase Blackberry (security) or Samsung (Android Falgship Phone). Or just wait until 2019 to give Apple one last chance to take £700-800 of my money.

Apple are taking the wrong path in regards to phones.

And that’s the way the cookie (biscuit) crumbles. Good job Apple!

This years devices are an easy skip if you purchased last year or even the year before. Not much is changing hardware-wise. IOS needs a huge kick in the button. New interface, new power tools, new everything. Software is falling behind big time! And with Ive saying new things are coming for the X that weren't there when it was originally released, one has to hope that means a full blowout of new features in IOS 12 in 2018. That's all I care about, otherwise all the phones are essentially the same minus a few speed enhancements and animated emoji nonsense which hasn't taken off either.

Ming-Chi Kuo is the one that told the world iPhone X would rely on Face ID alone. And Apple would ditch Touch ID.

Those of you who doubted him last year looked pretty silly.

Feel free to doubt him about 3D Touch, but prepared to look dumb in September.
Agreed...from Apples POV if they add 2 cameras and 3D Touch to the 6.1 it will definitely canabalized the X models.

No way they will eliminate 3D touch, especially when it is no longer a big selling point and considering the fact that iOS employs this feature very heavily. The rumors concerning 3GB of RAM and an aluminium frame are quite credible tho.

On a different note, no 3D Touch is complete crap on KGI’s front. Aside from the SE (and likely to be on the SE update) it is crystal clear 3D Touch is one of Apple's strategic technologies, it’s going to be there.

LOL, it's so strategic, 3D Touch is not even mentioned on the iPhone X product overview page. It's buried as a single line item on the Tech Specs page.

The fact that 3D Touch is no longer a selling point is exactly why Apple can remove it.

The feature isn't even employed on any of the iPad Pro devices that are intended for full multitasking.

The 6.1" model uses a brand new Full Active panel from JDI.

3D Touch adds another layer of complexity to display assembly. It makes complete sense to drop 3D Touch for a mainstream iPhone intended for a mid-range price point. Besides, not everyone uses 3D Touch.

So the new Apple mentality is, “Not everyone uses it so let’s drop it...?”
And $800 is midrange??

This is one of the few times the rumors are just dumb. A new iPhone in 2018 won't have features the 6s has (3D Touch) and the 7 Plus and 8 Plus have (Dual Cameras) while costing MORE and the article even says it's mid-range at $800? Pass me whatever you're smoking lmao

I can only hope this is all wrong, lol.

Touch ID or no deal. I don't trust face ID, if Apple didn't disclose battery issue processor slowdown could there be something about face if there not disclosing?

yes that means its self aware...on a spec sheet of a car, its says that the car has 4 wheels ?
3d touch is mention only if it is improved...otherswise you expect to have it, on any new 2017 2018 iphones...
no 3d touch means even a crrap vibration motor, no Taptic engine

Apple's mentality is "hardly anyone uses it, we haven't advertised it on iPhone X, and it's costly to produce."

why even make a cheaper phone? you get more from buying the 8 or the 7 than buying 6.1 inch. And it would be more expensive than those models that have less? I'm calling BS. The S9 is starting to sound better and better

That makes no sense.

Without 4 wheels, the car doesn't move.

Without 3D Touch, the phone works perfectly.

Anything above $500 is not a midrange product!

Any iPhone except SE falls in the flagship category for any other manufacturer.

What baffles me the most is the lack of an OLED display. Every phone that I know of in the $700-800 price range has an OLED display, and HAS HAD one for a while. As you know, Apple was late to the game adopting OLED screens. And now Apple is really going to limit the OLED display to their $1000+ phones?

If so -- laughable. But we'll see. It's just a rumor.

I think it’s somewhat genius to do that as this has happened with the MacBook And rMBP and the Retina display.

It makes sense not to give every model the same feature and to keep some things for the higher price point to entice people.

The only company I know of that has decent margins after sales and has a sub 800 OLED phone is Samsung.

I don’t see why it always comes back to price as Apple doesn’t compete in the race to the bottom mentality.

I hope this phone comes to fruition because folks who wanted a cheaper but larger phone now has it.

So the cheapest model will be the big 6.1" one? What happens to the 4.7"?

The 4.7" is an old form factor which will probably be reborn as an SE2.

If customers want a 4.7" device with the latest technologies, they have to go to 5.8" or 6.1".

The name of the game is "Apple wants higher ASPs."
