Will be called an iHole, to differentiate it from Samsung.
Shove the sensors around the rim? Unlock with Apple Watch? Under the screen? What? And Face ID?
I get you’re probably trolling, but it is worth mentioning that nowadays the Front camera is used just as much, if not more, than the rear camera.A version with no front camera and therefor no notch or punch hole would be way better.
I'd buy one. I don't FaceTime, Video Chat...give me all screen and just the rear camera.A version with no front camera and therefor no notch or punch hole would be way better.

Am I misunderstanding your comment ? you never used facetime ?I've never used the front facing camera EVER. I wish they'd make a phone with no notch, no front camera, no face ID and just have an uninterrupted piece of glass.
It's the narcissists who are forcing all of us to suffer through front screen sensor overload hell.
well, if we bring touch id back, ok...You get mask friendly Touch ID with hole punch plus you can authenticate without looking at it like when driving so that's an advantage. How do you figure it has limitation?
How do you know that Apple hasn’t found a way to go include the sensors in one single module… I’m pretty certain that Apples R&D team is working on an amazing tech advancementHow about something more innovative like in-screen sensors and camera to completely eliminate notch and pin hole? Apple must not have enough money for R&D.
I’m not questioning what apple’s capabilities are, I’m questioning Kuo’s accuracy in his reporting. There won’t be a camera punch out in 2022. If there is, something like ultrasonic fingerprint reading will take its place.Again, glad to know that you work for Apple, so you know exactly what their capabilities are.
Again, if anyone would read the actual article, there is absolutely *nothing* about removing Face ID.
It’s not going anywhere. It’s one of their flag ship security features, they’re not going to remove it. If they can make it smaller, then they will make it smaller. If they can’t, then they won’t.
If iPhone and iPads ditch Face ID then the ones I own now will be the last ones I ever buy.Ditch FaceID in the iPhones and iPads in favor of in-display TouchID.
Incorporate the front camera and earpiece speaker into the very narrow top bezel.
No Notch or Punch Hole needed, WinWin
Use FaceID for Macs, as they will always have slighting larger bezels.
Would be amazing if this hole could be in a corner so if you want to see a movie it will be in the black bars and not in the screen part. Simple.
At least some 2022 iPhone models will abandon the notch and switch to a "punch-hole display design" instead, similar to Samsung's recent high-end Galaxy smartphones, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today in a research note obtained by MacRumors.

Kuo said the hole-punch display design will be adopted by high-end 2022 iPhones at a minimum, and if production yields are good enough, all 2022 iPhone models may use this design. Kuo did not provide any further details as to how Apple would house Face ID components without the notch, should the facial recognition system continue to be used.
Apple is rumored to be planning under-display Touch ID on at least some future iPhones, while Chinese smartphone maker ZTE recently showed off an under-display 3D facial recognition system, so perhaps Apple will explore a similar solution.
Kuo said that if development goes smoothly, at least one new high-end iPhone in 2023 will feature an under-display fingerprint scanner, a periscope telephoto camera, and a real full-screen display design with no notch or holes. Apple may also launch a new lower-end iPhone with around a 6-inch LCD screen, Face ID, and a price tag below $600 in the first half of 2023 to replace the iPhone 11, according to Kuo.
Kuo also said the front camera on 2022 iPhone models will feature autofocus.

How is it a better experience when you’re wearing gloves? At least now with the right gloves I can unlock my phone without having to enter my passcode. I get that Face ID isn’t perfect (though better now that an Apple Watch can unlock your phone when you have a mask on) but fingerprint sensors aren’t perfect either. They really should ditch Face ID,it was good for it’s time when good under display fingerprint sensor wasn’t available.
the newer under display fingerprint sensors are simply easier and a better experience and I can’t see why Apple may want to keep using Face ID and that comedic notch.
behind samsung as being the king for battery drain, lag and heat issues, if that's the case I'd rather be behind 🤦♂️😂Behind Samsung as usual.
I second this. None of these seem inline. Could I mistaken? Sure. Anyway... Let's look at this...No, ...I don't believe it.
I would bet big that Kuo has this one completely wrong.
To me, this implies the discontinuation of Face ID: An extremely doubtful move by Apple.Kuo said the hole-punch display design will be adopted by high-end 2022 iPhones at a minimum
If they switch to an under display Touch ID, it will be before 2023 -- wasn't/isn't it rumored for this year?Kuo said that if development goes smoothly, at least one new high-end iPhone in 2023 will feature an under-display fingerprint scanner
Looking at Apple's previous designs, I don't see this happening either. I would expect Apple to adopt and implement an additional technology, like they did with LiDAR, before ever including a periscopic lens.a periscope telephoto camera
