Not disappointed, because I had no expectations for this. But a press conference for that? Weak.

More or less my thoughts. Apple did themselves a disservice by telling the press this would be a "big deal". A few nice tweaks for the Touch, and a modest update for the nano (reminds me of the 3G to 4G iPod where they more or less reverted to the superior 2G design). The iPhone/Touch update more or less fixes stuff that was broken, which isn't the kind of thing you shout about. We knew about games on the Touch 2 months ago. The iTunes update was the most major change, and that just didn't seem all that thrilling.

I see most of this stuff as updates you'd just see show up on the Apple site. I think maybe Apple brought out so much cool stuff for a stretch there (last year with the iPhone, Touch, Leo and Air and announcing the app store in a 9 month stretch) that it's hard to measure up to that.

I guess I heard it wrong... sorry- it sounded to me like there was a new hardware thingie in the touch!

well thinking logically how would it pick up how far youve gone and everything, isnt the point of the seperate transmitter that it sends back and forth motion in relation to the ipod/phone which then is converted into the stats ?

im not sure how a built in one could possibly work for that, unless its a seperate device simply tied to the ipod with a tether:p

Unbelievable. Why did they hold an event for this? It really should have been more substantial. Apple should have hired Seinfeld for this event because it really was the keynote about nothing. And I love them ending the show with 2.1. Aside from Genius support, what does it provide besides patching up Apple's mistakes with the initial software? Apple needs to learn to meet the expectations it sets. If they had announced this through the website, I would not be disappointed and the stock might not have dropped as much.. However, if you are holding an event, you damn well better back it up with something amazing. What a letdown.

Off your high horse..

I am SO tired of hearing people whine and whine about not getting their new MB and MBP's.

If you're so tired of it, then stop visiting MacRumors. Problem solved.

In other news, this event wasn't a "big deal" at all.

More like, big deal........ Pffft...

Completely agree

I don't think I could have said it better myself.

I wonder why Apple made such a point to say this event was going to be a "big deal"? It surely wasn't.

an anyone confirm that it was the apple corporation that said it would be a big deal, or some stupid PR guy just talking to a friend which got blown out of proportion. Theres a reason why that rumor only had one source.....

Think people, think. Just because you heard it would be a big deal doesnt mean apple said it would be.

I came in expecting exactly what we got, an update to the ipod line, as they do every september. The one thing i cant wait for is the sudden whining, after months of "why doesnt the ipod have a speaker", there will now be "why does the speaker sound like crap/too quiet". Theres a reason for that, a speaker shouldnt be in a device that small in the first place. Anyone expecting it to sound great isnt thinking clearly.

overall, im glad theyve updated something at least, now the wait for the macbook continues!

Ahh I see that now, he did the falsetto in the beginning/end of the song. :)

He also sang the harmony in the chorus to Mark Knopfler's melody. It's more profound when you hear Sting sing it by himself then Mark join in when they get to "We got to install Microwave ovens, custom kitchen deliveries."

Sting did the intro and ad libs on the end when they're singing "Money For Nothing, Chick's for free."

BL.

Nike + iPod is compatible with iPod nano and iPod touch (2nd generation). iPod nano (1st generation) must have software version 1.2 or later.

I wonder if Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles is available in HD today, if so I am going to buy the season pass.

I also wonder how long it will be until they post iTunes 8.

Well there was 9 episdes season 1, I paid $27 for the blu ray, now if I had bought them on Itunes in HD that would be $2.99 x9 about the same price
It should be less on a Physical Medium free format.

SD should be .99 and HD $1.99 if they wanted to kill Blu Ray

 They do the ipod update event, every year if memory serves me correct.

also, uh, newly redesigned ipods, i noticed you didnt mention anything about those. Maybe you came in expecting too much because you needlessly buy into rumors and speculation. Everyone knows september is ipod month, why would this year be any different?

Ah, they didn't get rid of album list view in iTunes 8 - select the Show Artwork Column option.

Still a bloated pig on Windows though. Will be happy to see how it is on my old iBook later.

It was Apple saying it.... and there is no pay off. Apple cried wolf.

People are saying expectations weren't met but isn't this exactly what every rumor pointed to? I am only disappointed that this is what I expected. On the bright side at least I won't be spending any money as a result of this.

The rumors are way too accurate these days and next time I read them I will believe them a bit more. I don't think Apple is becoming less secretive but more people are watching. They can't buy enough of any component to produce something without somebody finding out about it. Maybe in the future they should not announce any event and let people be surprised when they update at random.

I am sure they will sell a massive amount of these as usual and will bet money their stock is over $200 by Christmas.
