For someone who doesnt watch sports at all, these features are worthless. 😟
Are you really sad or sympathy fishing that you don't watch sports and don't feel you get enough use of an iOS feature? I'm so sorry for you. I don't watch sports either. I know it's hard...

There are currently apps (and will be more in the future) that use this that aren’t sports related. Sports is probably going to be one of the more widespread use cases, however.

Meh, Can't believe OneFootball doesn't have this the first day. They always have such a good score notifications that's very up-to-date as well..

Yeah I'm surprised too. I've had to install Fotmob so I can get football Live Activities.

In Fotmob, do you just need to star the games you want on the lock screen or do you have to have the app open too please? TIA.

how do i get the live activities for sports alerts? i saw different people getting it to work by long pressing on the game, but it doesnt seem to work for me.

Of course it is upto the app developers to add Live Updates to their apps.
But if only paid apps are going to have the new feature then that is a problem. Apple should make this feature required on all apps paid ot not paid.

I have no problem app developers getting paid for their work. I subscribe to a lot of paid apps and love them.
But also feel that this feature was marketed and advertised by Apple so it should be in available in all apps

The alternative could be that developers don’t implement it at all. Sheesh…you people are so blasted cheap. Don’t want to pay…don’t expect the service. That’s how it used to be. Free apps ruined the universe.

Customer demands something for nothing, is shocked when he gets nothing... 🤔

I am not sure why you think I am cheap and resort to name calling? I said I have a ton of paid apps.
I have no problem paying for apps.
But if Apple advertises a new feature in IOS then it should be available in all apps. Not just the paid apps.

If app developers do not want to implement new features that is upto them. People will flock to aps that have the latest features. paid or not paid.

And why are you in for denying someone the fruits of their labor? There are plenty of paid apps out there. For them, every iOS feature is "paid for". API calls from Live Activities cost money. Should the developer have to bear all that cost? And if another weather app undercuts Brian and it results in a loss of subscribers, he'll react accordingly. That's the beauty of a free market.
