while you're at it, why not have a separate forum for everyone who posts about the purchasing/shipping/arrival status of their MB,MBP,MBA. I was excited too when I got mine, but I didn't need to announce it to everyone (okay, maybe my friends, but that's different)

I think they are practically the same computer. Just one is the smaller, more portable one.

Also it's easier to compare the two instead of debating where to post the question.

Actually MacBooks aren't that much smaller than 15" MBPs, and only .4lb lighter. Try sitting a MacBook on top of a MacBook Pro and check out their footprints, there's hardly anything in it!

Come on, why is this even a question? The MacBook and MacBook Pros are two totally different machines.

I still think they should be together.

And adopt the same way Apple does with this - you can view them as subforums, or view all the subforums together.

imho the only thing that separates the mbp is the gpu and those questions end up in the games thread. portability related stuff overlaps quite a bit. the mba is radically different so it's ok to have a forum for that.

i vote for one forum. but if it ends up being two forums i won't cry. i promise. i'll try not to.

I suggest having a forum for general discussion on Macbooks, where people can talk about all of them at once, compare them, etc because news, rumors, reviews, etc can be inclusive of more than 1 macbook line.

Then have a seperate support forum for each macbook, macbook pro, MB air... because support issues will be hardware specific.

Keep them separate! We all know how segregation operated, and it worked flawlessly! Seperate but not equal! :D

While we're at it, hell, this is how it ought to be:

Apple Hardware > Notebooks
-White
-Black
-Grey
-Greyblack

That's just the way I see it. ;)

There should be seperate forums like now, but people should also be able to post in the "Notebooks" Forum, for anything involving combinations of MBP, MB, MBA.

So it should go

Mac Forums > Apple Hardware > Notebooks
> Macbook
> Macbook Pro
> Macbook Air
--------------------------
Posts for general Apple notebooks here.

Or, when a picture is worth a thousand words, look below!

i like this idea
and also having an older notebook forum instead of putting the powerbook with mbp, put a powerbook, and ibook in their own forum...

How Bout:
MacBook
MacBook Pro
MacBook Air
PowerPC Notebooks (Or call it the PowerBook and iBook Forum so it doesnt confuse n00bs who bought a 300 mhz iBook on ebay)

Now that apple is about to drop power pc support in snow leopard, since its been two years since the last power pc notebook was sold new from apple, and since it just makes things confusing having them together it would just be better to segregate PowerPC-Based notebooks into their own forum.

Seperate!

People who buy MacBook Pros pay $1000+ more than a MacBook. We deserve to be seperated from the inferior MacBook owners!
