the worst part is the waiting game for shipments to arrive when they finally announce the thing.

waiting for the new mbp to come out has been rough, but waiting for it to arrive will be even harder!

Last time the MBP was updated, it was available in store the same day.... Same with the iMac. Here's to hoping for same day availability!!

Fact: Only the 15.3" Macbook Pros are running dry. The other MACBOOK PROS are NOT.
Also, almost EVERY Macbook lineup are on sale, this includes the Macbook 13.3", and Macbook Pro 15.4, and iMAC.

So this really means nothing, cause if all of these are on sale, then wouldn't they have to update the whole lineup?

At my local best buy they had a ton of 15" MBPs (more than they had last week), and no 17" MBPs (they have been out of stock on the 17" model for 2 weeks now). Take that for what its worth.

I concur... but I customized my MBP... I thought that I wouldn't be able to do that? If they did update them, I just want some monetary refund back just to offset the difference in specs. Hahaha! Would it be possible?

You CAN return customized computers if they are unopened within 14 days. You can also return them if they are dead on arrival.

ooooo is there a new macbook pro coming out?
first ive heard of it....youd think thered be something about it on the rumour sites!

I'M BEING IRONIC!!!

HOW MANY MORE BLOODY TUESDAYS ARE YOU GONNA MAKE US WAIT APPLE????

im going crazy! i thought only microsoft did that to you

*&&^%$##@!@@

what do you guys think???

I say we get George Clooney and the rest of the Oceans 13 gang and GO GET OUR LAPTOPS!!! WOO

My birthday is Feb 19! Im pretty sure Steve Jobs knows this, so you guys can be assured that it comes out this tuesday! :p

*Crosses fingers*

Seriously, how cool of a birthday present would that be?

Well it wouldn't be cool if the day before your family came up to you with a MBP and screamed HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I would cry.

I got fed up of waiting for a new Macbook Pro so went on eBay and bought a 2nd hand 2.16Ghz for £680 (Approx half the cost of a base model). So this will see me through until a new MBP comes out.

But then again, if it suites my needs, I may keep it and use the money towards my Mac Pro :D

I'm hoping that the new MacBook Pro will have an updated keyboard at least. It's still sharing the same design as my good ol' trusty powerbook.
I do think that the new Macbook Air keyboard is quite nice but it's a bit on the light side. I like my keys to have more tactile feedback.

When I purchased my Macbook in October of last year, I had sent it in for an exchanged at the end of the month. I was told that my new computer would ship as soon as they received a tracking number from my return package. When I never received the tracking number for my new comp. I called and they kept changing the date when it would ship. Two weeks later, I received the upgraded Macbook model. I had no idea they were planning an upgrade, but was pleasantly surprised when I received it. Maybe the changing ship dates for these returns are similar to my experience. I just hope it comes out soon. I just sold my Macbook two weeks ago and planned on buying a MBP immediately after, until I found this site.

Is this true? Have 5+ day delays happened before all other new computer releases? It seems unlikely that Apple would have predicted to produce exactly the number of current macbook pros so that they would run out exactly one week before releasing the next version.

The reason for this is that Apple would not want to ship the old model only to have the buyer bring it back for an exchange. So when they're close to releasing the new model, they'll just delay the shipment until the new one is announced. Of course, this assumes the new ones will become available for shipment within a few days of the announcement (which they should, since this is unlikely to be a radical redesign and they're not up against a major conference like they were with the MB Air). I don't see why they would announce anything unless it was ready for release.

Sadly, this occurrence seems unlikely if any of the rumors are true about the new MBP enclosures and trackpads. I imagine that Apple wants to make as a big a deal as possible out of these updates, so they'll save the announcement for the "big" event.

If the MBP update is small (i.e. only a processor upgrade) however, a 2/19 update is more probable.

do apple normally treat a new cpu as a special news worthy update? also the multitouch was big news when added to the air, i doubt it needs fan fair for it's transference to mbp.

i understand ur logic, but it still could be an unmentioned update, like the cpu update in the mac pro.

i definitely will. this plus all the best buy inventories being dry gets me very excited!

---just hope i'm not horribly disappointed.

also, i have heard (as mentioned on the previous page) that there is dwindling stocks in australia from two sources (a major retailer, and my mate in a smaller store). therefore, your post about a delayed product from apple is probably the most real, as i hear apple always provides stock to their online orders, before retail (at least in a australia). so if they are delaying their own direct orders then imho something is going on.

cheers for keeping us posted mate.

PS probably means i will be up past mndnight waiting for a apple site update

I hope they come out soon.

I don't want / need a re-design, I love the macbook pro design. I don't want / need the new black keyboard.

I prefer the grey, as it is non-distracting when I'm working on photos.

I hope they will come out with some new monitors too. I will buy next week if they come out next week.

yeah, a 23" ACD is part of my order that's been delayed. it would be sweet if i got a new ACD and a new MBP!

I'm less optimistic about the monitors though. I really think they want to go with LED's, and the technology just isn't available for screens that big yet.

Cool!

I was thinking, maybe they would drop the 20, have the 23 at the price of the 20, and introduce a 27 in place of the 23, and lower the price of the 30.

I really hope they don't do a redesign, as the current design is quite lovely.

But any kind of refresh would be great, they have been the same for about 2 years now.

i am kinda hoping they stay the same, just with an update to the multitouch and cpu.

although one thing i am hoping for is wireless USB. that could be really cool, and i think apple would be keen to try and add wireless usb to their ipods. it would really add to their whole cableless feel they try and go for

yeah, i wouldn't be unhappy with a refresh. of course if they drop prices i'm going to have to call apple and get some of the $ i paid back ;)

More fuel for the rumor mill...

From the B&H Photo website a few minutes ago. Looks like the MBP is coming...

Its a lil bit like a Deja Vu ....

3-4 Days before anything new comes out of the Apple Building ( Iphone, MBA,..) people end talking about their Dreams and starting talks about facts which later come true ;)

Isn't this just the current 15" model with the $250 upgrade to the 2.6 Ghz processor? The pricing is the same and I don't see anything else different.

no apple stopped editing the ship times on their store. THey saw it was tipping off potential customers. for the most part they send upgrades or new models.
