I wans't one of those people counting on Verizon. And after the VP went and said they had no plans with apple, I gave up all hope for that. But really.... The iPhone is never gonna be on anything but AT&T, is it?

I seriously thought that when they had network issues during the presentation that that would have been the perfect segue.

My gut tells me that Apple won't jump ship until other carriers can promise them certain things in addition to the usual "kickbacks", things like visual voicemail support, multi-function support (being able to run multiple network based ops, like being on the phone and surfing the net or sending email/texts)....I wish they would just because the distribution of users across the networks would make everyone happy.

I think the fact that AT&T is extending upgrade eligibility (with 2 year contract of course) may be a sign that they know their exclusivity is ending, and they want to lock in as many people as possible before it does.

I have a 3G on T-Mobile prepaid and pay around $100 a year for service. I really want to go to att because hacked iphones just get old and you still need to deal with the crap, and my plan is simply lacking and just not enough.
What kind of plan did you get onto. I didn't know that tmobile had voice and data for $8 a month.

Also, I'm unsure if 3G will work with iPhone 4. Tmobile in the USA uses the 1700Mhz band, which isn't on the iPhone 4 chip.

Never say never but I doubt any time soon.
People have been waiting for over 3 years for an iphone on Verizon.
If you want it just get it on AT&T or JB and unlocked on Tmobile.
Not many other options in the US.

I do find it odd, here in the UK you can get it on multiple carriers. Then again as I understand Verzion have different tech or something?

The vast majority of the world uses the same standards (GSM) as does AT&T and Tmobile in the US.
Verizon and Sprint uses CDMA for their 3G which only works on their networks, so the phones are hardware locked to their respective networks.
Sprint has chosen a proprietary standard for 4G (which is based on wimax). Verizon has chosen LTE for their 3G, but it's not backwards compatible with their 3G network. AT&T and Tmobile can expand their 4G network with 4G hardware and it's backwards compatible. Verizon, until they expand their 4G network nationwide will either have a 4G only phone (which won't work on their 3G network) or a dual chip phone.

You guys are a little bit ... nuts :) Theres nothing wrong with having more carrier options available to us customers. If you are happy with AT&T, thats great for you, but dont be a dips*** fanboy and recognize that AT&T isn't great for everyone and what people are asking for is more of an option while staying with Apple instead of going with Android or BB. With all this said, I doubt even more that Verizon will ever get this phone until LTE really takes over.

No doubt AT&T is not great for everyone.
But only options is AT&T or JB and unlocked on Tmobile.
This hoping and waiting for years is nonsense IMO.
No matter what we say and wish for will not make a difference.
It would be nice to be on all carriers but reality is not and probably not for a while.

I would get an iPhone 4 or iPhone 3G S for T-Mobile, but I heard it's not possible to jailbreak either of those, and I really don't want an original or 3G.

No Verizon iPhone announced but...

I know that it wasn't announced today, but should I still hold out? I'm on Verizon now and on a month to month postpaid account because my contract is up. Should I stay with Verizon or jump ship to AT&T?

If they wait until September/October to announce it with the new iPods (as per usual) how many people would be fuming mad?

Too many questions I know, but I'm eager to get one at this point!

Remember also, it's not just for iPhone users. All users who have upgrade eligibility will be allowed to upgrade. They want more and more people on the iPhone with the new plans.

The vast majority who get onto the iPhone with AT&T will stay. The small minority would leave. I don't think AT&T are that worried.

Don't expect an iPhone with Verizon this year. If it was going to happen, it would have been announced today.

I don't how reliable contracts are now-a-days but it's all over about Atat's 5-yr exclusivity contract.

I don’t think most have any problems with V getting the iPhone; it’s mostly their whining and saying how bad AT&T is day after day after day that gets irritating.

Lol at me thinking before today that I was going to hang on to my 3GS until the Verizon iPhone 4 comes out.

I'll be first in line on the 24th. Who makes calls these days anyway? I'll get a landline or something. :)

It's an unlock that's needed. I think Tmobile uses the 1700 band for their 3G, which is not available on the iPhone 4. So basically, you can use EDGE on Tmobile.

the iPhone? Seems like they want people to upgrade to this cool new iPhone so they're locked in before Verizon gets the iPhone maybe some time this year. I really like the new phone though so I might upgrade from my 3G to it.

Nope...

AT+T wants to cash in on the 4th gen hype. All the other smart phone manufacturers will be rushing out new designs so now is the time to grab as many customers as possible for the new phone.

+1....

Remember, nobody is the best in all areas. For some Verizon is better while for others AT+T is better.

Apple and ATT = Very Smart

Personally, I think today was a good day for Verizon Wireless customers. After reading today's keynote, I believe Verzion, will be getting the iPhone sooner than later.

Why? ATT is offering early upgrades so they can lock in as many customers as possible. If that reason isn't enough to believe Verizon will be getting the iPhone your kidding yourself.

Thoughts?

I don't really care as Att has been pretty good for me. However if the verizon version has a bunch of new features ill be pissed.
