In what way is OS X ”less functional”? I'm genuinely curios. Can you give an example or two?
[doublepost=1456769676][/doublepost]

I don't use Windows 10 very often, but it happens. Care to share what it is you've found?

Hi I can tell you what I found in the few minutes I used OS X (I'm thinking about buying mac), I guess I could find more with more time.

1. The whole, maximice, minimice, multitask window it's much better optimiced and it's easier to do on Windows.
2. Yo got right click create document, shortcut, word, txt, etc... vs only folder on mac.
3. Deleting documents it as easier as click "delete" no need to FN combos like mac. Also this will force you to remap keys if you are using windows software on your mac.
4. Cortana vs Spotlight. Again i can just tell cortana to search some files or instance presh only one button to open it a start writing vs FN combo on mac.
5. Like it or not, believe it or not, there are mac virus, and worst, it appears to be one of the less secure systems.

Due to my studies, in my classroom there were a lot of Macs, not only find they break too at the end of the last year a few colleagues ask me to take a look at their macs because they were slow, some of them installed antivirus and find several infections. So this no virus is pure myth. Also never had a virus on W10 as long as you don't go to weird webpages or know where to download things.

6. Didn't find anything to show recent files used in APPs, but I think that was my fault.

Edit. of course: 7. Less software compatibility. Allmost all of my colleagues emulated Windows to run software like autocad, and at the end that choice gives them worst performance than just runing the software on a Windows laptop.

// On the other hand I find things better in Mac too, like the multiple-desktop and gestoures trakpad. But I think it will eventually come to windows in future updates.

I wouldn't say "less functional" at the end you do the same more or lees, but for me "less practical" and not so well polished as iOS.

As to my earlier post, I had the surface pro 3 and wanted to love it, but I am not getting the same love with cortana. Constantly asking to be set up again and again. There is not single sign on and you can't use your office 365 business login to sign in.

I don't want to touch my laptop screen. I'm actually a bit obsessive about seeing dust and fingerprints on it. That feature doesn't appeal to me at all.
Then don't get one. I just bought a non-touch ultrabook and I'm very happy with it.

It's good to have choices, sometimes.

...they're still resistant to touch screens on Macs which is dumb. I think its incredibly useful on my PCs that I have at home.
Wondering where you keep your monitor.
I'll reckon most of the world doesn't keep it towards front edge of the desk (and losing your desktop space). Otherwise to reach the screen you have to fully extend your elbow, tire our shoulder, and lose fine control.

My Cinema Display stands where a screen is supposed to be: about 2½ to 3 feet away. Ergonomically, this is not touchscreen distance nor is a vertical screen touchscreen oriented. Look at Fig. 1. Think she wants to be going back and forth between mouse/keyboard and poking at the screen with her arm extended out? Unless they're suggesting that she drop the keyboard/mouse altogether. Wait...you can't...

Hey, they can put a touchscreen behind the monitor if they want to. Doesn't mean it's a good idea. There may be reasons to consider a Windows setup, but this is just plain silly. Reminds me of Ballmer digging in his heels about a physical keyboard on a smartphone, but backwards.

The big problem with W10 is that there are a lot of potential, a lot of promises, but it still in beta. And W10 mobile is even worse!

The touchscreen desktop is within an arms reach. My other touch screen computer is a Surface Pro 3. In both cases, using the touch screen is a nice benefit. Its not only my opinion, but I see my wife and kids instinctively using the touch screen. Its definitely a plus to have.

I updated my GFs PC to Windows 10.

The trackpad became unreliable, lagging and freezing, and everything became slower. The new Edge browser works less well than the installation of Explorer she already had from before.

It took me a whole weekend to make all issues less painful. The trackpad issue was 'fixed' by modifying the tolerance (in seconds!) of accidental touches on the trackpad! Something Apple does automatically to perfection.

Part of that is OSX ONLY has to deal with Apple supplied trackpads. Windows, on the other hand, has to operate with a million variety of trackpads (and other hardware) some that may not have proper drivers for windows 10, or decent drivers at all.

This is one of the biggest differences between OSX and Windows: Apple's complete control over the full experience (or, conversely, Microsoft's lack of control) but that comes at a cost; I just picked up a windows 10 PC that I am using for general computing, Netflix, and some PlayStation 2 emulation, it cost me $99.00 yes, less than $100.00!

93.3% + 6.7% = 100% Where's Linux in this? I think someone's numbers are a little off here.

I knew that as I was typing - it's not broken out. But the point is pretty much the same. Windows might have declined in marketshare - but it's still a huge part of the pie.

Isn't that chick on the right the one that whined a load, several years back, about how the government wasn't buying her enough condoms? Then she revealed she was a lesbian and wanted gov-funded sex changes for college kids?

Now she is pushing cooties in PC commercials. What next, I ask?

Doesn’t appeal to me either but I’d rather have the choice to do both.

As it is, I prefer Apple hardware and software, have done for about 15 years now. Over time I’ve built up quite a collection of gadgets for myself and family but I will say though that my patience is wearing thin with the constant dumbing down, feature removal, nickel and diming etc etc.
I find that more and more of my time is spent with Windows now and I find it less awful/irritating than I used to. I’m just wondering if the rot has set in.

I went the other way: to Chromebook.

Uh, what planet do you live on?

Sorry, but I generally disagree with most everything you posted. My home MacBook is 8 years old (replacing it this year when new MBP is announced), but I'd prefer it to a Windows 10 machine.

It doesn't matter what its name is, my planet is only for people who is able to take choices being rational, and not following the rules and commands from a brand without even trying the others. I think you wouldn't fit with us.

A man chooses, a slave obeys.

Thank you for asking!

why do we keep mentioning the random estimate when apple already said mac sales were down 3% on the last quarter?... and yes, if the windows 10 machine has a Digitizer you can do more things on it.

pretending facts are not real does not make anyone a mac fan - just makes the community seem crazy.

My question is does Cortana work? Siri barely works and most of the other virtual personal assistant apps I have tried barely work. I would like my 27 inch iMac to have a tilt down to flat mode that lets me draw on it with the apple pencil like a Wacom Cintiq. Don't really need touch screen other than to draw with the pencil so multi touch and **** is useless. Since Mac's all have facetime cameras I don't see why we wouldn't have a facial recognition built into the next OSX update. Do PC's even come with built in cameras?

How well does the face unlock work because my sister had an android with face unlock and i just held a picture of her from my phone to her phone and it unlocked.
