I know you’re having problems booting 10.13.5, but what about 10.13.4? (With new firmware.)
    --- Post Merged, Jun 2, 2018 ---
    I know that. But that’s for 10.13, not 10.14.

^^^^You will not see the FW update without downloading the full 10.13.5 installer from the AppStore. Then, if you are up to date on 10.13.5, you only need to run the FW update only.

No I have downloaded full from app store and looked inside with pasifist and I dont see new bootrom for mac pro 5.1

Maybe, is it possible to make full installation but not update bootrom to 87 ? than we can continue enjoying NVME boot a while until some one figure this out.

So my question was if we update from appstore only than this new bootrom is showing up ?

but there are something in EFIpayload about NVME, someone may look ?

FWIW. 10.13.6 beta installed from a combo update boots with a modified 0085 firmware over AHCI m.2 Pcie ssd on a 5,1.

I haven’t picked up a NVMe drive just yet as Ive been focused on the use of a raid 0 ramdisk while waiting for faster 4K performance.

    10.14's support list already announced?
    --- Post Merged, Jun 2, 2018 ---
The new boot rom is included in the full OS installer.

If the ROMTool can't do that, then may be the hardware force flash is required.

However, I am thinking is it possible to make the 0085.B00 as 0087.B01 via UEFI tool. So that the software method can take this "newer" ROM.

    1) desolder, flash and resolder.

    2) plug a replacement flashed with 0085 into the diagnostic port. Doing so disables the onboard flash, allowing the plugged in version to work.

    3) mod 0085 to appear as 0087 and flash.

Please explain what you are trying to communicate here.

It looks as if you are indicating you managed to revert to earlier firmware. Can you elaborate a little more please?

    What do you want?

If you only want the most up to date firmware, run the 10.13.5 full installer, then you will get it.

If you want to boot from NVMe natively, you should stay at 0085.B00, but not update to any newer version.

No, Do not download the HS installer. Just update.
you do not want to replace the firmware with updating.

Then just let Appstore update your current OS, no need to do anything.

My problem is I was thinking a fresh install to NVME disk 250GB which is smaller than my hard disk so easy cloning I can not do.
And a day in the future I may need to do a fresh install anyway. So I was trying to understand how did zozomester came back from a newer firmware ?

I think it was not possible with romtool, than he changed the firmware inside installer <rename the fırmware this still I could not understand sorry for my lack of understanding and exprience

Sounds like you need a 512gb ssd. Running a Mac Pro on a 128gb ssd takes a lot of work and more than one disk for a usable system.

A 256 Gb ssd fills up fast to a point that effects performance. If your existing system won’t fit on a 256 it’s an indication of what you need.

The Mac app Grand Perspective is free and can help you trim unnecessary files from your macOS boot disk. It’s my go to tool to get rid of bloat.
