It was star seek, not star walk. I have that app it's AWESOME! One of my favorites. :D

It was defiantly Star Walk.

Can someone post all the apps used in the commercial? Thanks.

Some of them have already been mentioned in earlier posts in this thread, but the baseball one hasn't been. It's MLB.com At Bat 2011.

And does this ad prove that Steve Jobs is a Boston Red Sox fan? Or was he rooting for a Detroit Tigers comeback during that game? :D

"We'll always cheer for our favorite teams."

here are all the apps, and I've updated the article too

The apps shown in the ad include: Photos (built in), iBooks, The Photo Cookbook, MLB, Fuze HD, iMovie, Alphabet Fun

I can't believe anyone would actually buy an iPad because of this ad. All it says to me is: "You need this product or you will never have a happy or fulfilling life."

I think it's for the people (and there are lots of them, actually) who wonder what one can do with an iPad. And the commercial is saying that you can do everything you can do now but you can do it better/easier and all in one place, if you want. A lot of people I talk to say they'd get an iPad but they don't know what they'd use it for.

I think I must be one of the few who doesn't like these commercials. The sentimentality is forced and crammed into a 30 second spot. It seems saccharine to me to try to force all the feel-goodery of life into one commercial. I can see a commercial trying to convey one emotion at the most. Plus, the guy narrating really needs to clear his voice. He sounds like the guy who announces, "With a name like Smuckers, it has to be good."

I know I'm an odd duck for this, but I like the aggressive, driving feel of the Power Mac G4 Cube ad:

It's modern, and the guy's voice is clean. The iPad commercials give me an icky Hallmark of the week type feel. I believe in emotion; I just hate forced emotion—it makes me uncomfortable. I actually mute these iPad commercials when they come on TV, whereas I used to get really excited by Apple ads.

I completely agree with what you said. I don't like the iPad commercial "trying to suck it up to me", so to speak.

Agree. Some of the original iPhone 4 ads featuring FaceTime were extremely sentimental. But now they've practically turned into warnings: "If you don't have an iPhone..." And there are boring battery life claims and such.

I wonder if Apple could revive the "I'm a Mac" concept. As in "I'm an iPad. And I'm a PlayBook..."

I would like to see that too. I miss the Mac commercials!

You are correct…..in the past 2 months 6 people i work with asked the same question and bought an iPad. All of them now use it as their primary machine. They just love it.

Apple was selling 100,000 iPads a day before this ad came out.

Do you think this commercial will cause people to NOT buy an iPad?

Once again... Apple sells the experience... and everyone else sells specs.

Should Apple make a commercial talking about the A5 processor instead?

We've already seen how wives have taken to the Tegra 2 chipset :)

As expected, most Apple ads are made really well.. I get my iPad tomorrow, very excited :p.. Hopefully its worth the money..

It's far better than "Your wife will love the dual core Tegra 2 chipset..."

LOL, that commercial cracks me up. I always picture my mom watching the Apple commercials and those (Verizon?) commercials and think to myself, "hmm, wonder which one she'd choose?" Obviously, as she's nearly 70, she'd go for the Apple.

It's funny I still don't know for sure whose ads those are (Tegra 2 chipset).

I'm still laughing because of the Verizon commercial, "your wife will LOVE the dual core tegra chipset." lol :p

But the cube did not sell! The larger market is people who are not geeks! Apple is the only technology company that knows how to market to people who don't even know what a CPU is! :D

Not just to people who don't know what a cpu is, but to people who do, and don't care. Technology is supposed to enrich our lives, not dominate them. Apple gets that. Others apparently don't.
