I once talked a friend into buying an iPad, iPhone and Nano in the same week.

Apple really should start giving me some freebies.

Of the 16 stores in Florida, 12 have shortages. And 10 of those that have shortages, are out of more than one model.

We should all start the count down for every upcoming tuesday as possible new mbp release from here on out.

Question re lack of MBP stock in stores.

I have recently ordered a MBP online.
I went through Apple finance and when I had spoken to the expert, she advised me by the time i sign the contract, it may be a fortnight until I get my MBP... Basically saying the MBP will have to get made up in Singapore (im in Aus)

With the shortage in stores at the moment - Does this mean there is a shortage at the factory? Or do the retailers just stop ordering, as they know there is a new model coming?

No one is forcing you to buy both on the same day you can buy them separate.

Really? I hadn't thought of that

I actually have a need for both so when both are available then I will get them. I was merely hoping that the iPad refresh would be in April. I suppose I could buy one on Friday and one on Saturday.

I don't know much about logistics but I do hope that it's because apple is busy making new mbp and they are putting request for current mbp as last priority and therefore longer time to make them? I don't know.. just a wild guess

I hope the refresh for Tuesday 1st March is true because I'm developing an unhealthy obsession of checking this forum for updates! :p

Dunno. Usually, when you customize one online, they tell you shipping will be in 1-3 business days. So, if she said "until you receive it" then it may be that she's figuring 3 days to make up the order, and then a few days more to ship it...

Or, it may be that yours won't be made up until the new models are available.

Aughhhhhh this is killing me.

Every Tuesday feels like a blind date, a blind date that I already know will most likley stand me up. Keeping up the hope. :D

If you're going along that logic, I've literally converted no less than 10 people to mac users. Honestly I think I should get a discount on this upcoming MBP :p

Assuming 1st of March is the release day when will the resellers have them in stock.

Hi,

may be some of you folks know it from last year.
Assuming 1st of March is the release day when will the resellers have them in stock. (like Amazon ect.)

Here in germany they will give you about 10-12% discount on the Applestore prices.
Unfortunately I am not a student any longer.

Discussing the prices do you think a 256GB SSD (as single Harddrive) will rise
the pricetag ?

Usually big resellers like Amazon will have them in stock within few days, maybe even on the same day.

There are no proofs that MBPs will have a 256GB SSD as standard. SSD, especially 256GB, will most likely be a BTO option due to its price.

does amazon, and other websites such as macmall, usually have the refresh on the first day its launched? just making sure. Im getting so anxious right now.

What would we see in this update? Sandy Bridge and nothing else?

Some are expecting a new size to be added to the MBP line, which, besides being extremely doubtful, seems unnecessary and unrealitic within its self, whether its a new larger size or smaller, but besides that everyone is more or less expecting all three current models to get a aesthetic remodeling to more closely resemble the MacBook Air, they are all expected to make a move to Solid State Memory and eliminate HDD's altogether, drop the optical drive, get a resolution upgrade, battery upgrade, and either move to USB 3.0 or do away with that altogether and move to LightPeak. And on top of all this, some are speculating that apple will move to an early release of OS X Lion in this refresh. I personally would love to see this happen, as I'm having to buy a new MacBook for college this summer.

Not sure if they will actually have them on same day but if you are looking for clue from the past, microcenter last year had parts number refreshed 3 days before the actual announcement.
