Apple store Canada changed stock.... ALL SIZES are 'in stock' no longer ships in 24 hrs.

Hope the Mactrast blog is at least partly true - would love to have another USB port.

Nah. They just figure that with 3 month shipping time to the South Pole, you aren't going to notice a lag in availability.

Didn't you hear about the Amundsen-Scott Apple Store?

They have one of each model on a shelf and one "genius" -- that guy who left his iPhone 4 in the coffee shop for Gizmodo to find.

Hey guys, just joining in. To those familiar with the Sandy Bridge platform, which processors / speeds are likely candidates for the MacBook Pros? How much of a performance boost do you think we'll see compared to the current top of the line MBP (i7 2.8)?

My guess...

Macbook i3-2310M 2.1 GHz

MBP 13" i5-2410M 2.3 GHz
MBP 13" i5-2520M 2.5 GHz

MBP 15" i5-2520M 2.5 GHz
MBP 15" i5-2540M 2.6 GHz
MBP 15" i7-2620M 2.7 GHz

MBP 17" i5-2540M 2.6 GHz

And I'm guessing the only REAL noticeable speed would be the 13" MBP.
For the average user, you wont notice anything for the 17" (processor-wise).

The 17" will have at LEAST an i7 BTO option. I'm still leaning toward the possibility that quad cores will be possible for BTO 15" and 17" models as well.

Not very many people are talking about this, but should we expect to see the Lion OS on the new MBP's from the start? Or will I have to wait EVEN LONGER :\

Lion isn't expected till the middle of the year at the earliest. So if the MBPs come out in early March you'll almost certainly have to pay the full price to update to Mac OS X Lion when that comes out.

Longer... :(, but you can hope that there will be a free upgrade to Lion.

You can hope there's a free upgrade, but I'd say it's unlikely. Apple would likely only consider offering a free upgrade (except for a small fee for shipping) when the release of Lion is imminent at the earliest and they don't want to hurt sales of stock already on the shelves.

I'd wouldn't worry about not getting Lion when it's released; new OS, new problems. I rocked Tiger until Snow Leopard was released, and I'm glad I waited. That way I didn't have to deal with all the child illnesses, glitches and whatnot, and I'll do the same this time. When the time is right, I'll gladly pay for Lion.

It's definitely sooner than later. Check out the delays on the online Apple stores worldwide:
