Ordered the new Macbook 12" (2017)

Everyone ordering the 512 SSD is scaring me a bit but I really could not justify the need for my own use. All my music is in Apple Music now and have 1TB of cloud space from One Drive if I need it for pictures, videos etc. I figured I could always buy an external hard drive if I need it. I also keep repeating to myself that I am almost positive I used a little over 100GBs of my MacBook 2011 500 HD after more than 5 years of use...

I am very happy I upgraded to the i5 though!!!

Can you believe that it wasn't that long ago that we were amazed at those PowerBook G4s and the subsequent MacBook Pros?

Insane how things have changed in a few years.

Ordered maxed out Space grey on June 9th. Just received email stating it has shipped from Shanghai today and will be here tomorrow. I did pay $10 extra for the 2 to 3 day shipping. Initial delivery range was June 19th-June 21st. I live in Dallas.
 
Mine cleared import scan in Louisville, KY this morning and delivery is due by end of Wednesday. Which is one day faster than the original estimate.
Silver i5,16,512 from China ordered a few hours after the presentation last week.

Bootcamp is fine at 8gb, It's when you're trying to run Windows 10 in Parallels or VM ware while in OSX is when 8gb starts becoming tight.

I think silver looks really nice despite being the same colour that we've had for years on Macbooks
 
Anyone that has received their i5 MB yet, have you done any true speed test? Not geekbench but opening apps, multitasking, web browsing and such? My MB has been delayed another day and going a little crazy. Lol Trying to find some true input of how it performs.


Coming from a MBP 2011 where programs would bounce and bounce before opening and the computer would take FOREVER to start up. I am VERY excited about MacOS improvents from what I am used to seem phenomenal...

I found a French language video which shows how fast the MacBook is. Looks pretty slick! Much much faster than my mid 2010 MBP.

Yeah trying the m3 model in store, I noticed the speed difference from the previous gen because of the processor and ssd speed bumps. Even editing the 4K final cut demo footage seemed smooth

Not only the cpu and faster ssd but also the intel speed shift tech from kaby lake helps. I see night and day difference between this and first gen that i had for 2 years

It's impressive, i'd like to see someone do a speed comparison between the 2015 and 2017 models. I think the issue of speed shouldn't stop buyers now

My gold 256/i5/8 is FINALLY stateside and should be here tomorrow! Would people here appreciate a benchmark test? Anything I need to do besides running the actual software for the test?

Mine has just departed from Khazagstan.. dunno what apple are doing shipping through a thousand countries to get to the UK!

Does anyone know of any nice premium leather cases for this baby? Mine should arrive on Friday
