Hope Samsung win and save the world from an overpriced last gen phone.

Your logic is absolutely impeccable, right? I don't know if you noticed, but the world doesn't need saving from "overpriced last gen phones" because "overpriced last gen phones" don't sell. But that is not what we are talking about. We are talking about the iPhone 4S.

It seems that Samsung is shaking in their boots and is not able to compete at all, that's why they have to resort to underhanded tactics and sue with patents that they _know_ they have to license under FRAND terms. And in the tablet market, everyone knows that Samsung tablets are so useless in comparison with RIM, Sony, Toshiba, HP, Amazon, that they had to steal Apple's design instead of competing honestly like others do.

(Just having a bit of fun with "PlipPlop" and turning his usual arguments around against him).

Let it go Samsung. You gambled my copying instead of being creative. You got caught. Either pull them and isolate your R&D team from Apple products or go back to making Plasma & LCD TV's.

I hate Samsung now, i'm boycotting them, they clone Apple products with no success and now they want them down! this is ridiculous.

To be honest. I would say the galaxy tab 10.1 looks similar to the iPad but its not their samsung's fault here. I mean its a tablet, how many other ways can you really change it, what put screens on both sides? The design itself is rather primitive (from a physically standpoint) and its like someone copying the pencil.

Samsung isn't helping their cause: what makes it more noticeable is the fact that android is based on 4 button layout. and to put a "home button" in the middle that's physical with a chrome outline. Then adding a apps section that looks similar to the iPhone by going horizontal instead of the android default scroll (WHICH I LOVE!!).

And you know what, as I'm using a galaxy s2 current to have a unbiased opinion, the interface of the touchwiz is more much polished that other android customized skins and I thank apple for that. God, if they didn't steal it and I had to use that vanilla gingerbread that missed the little things that made the iPhone so great. People forget what makes the iPhone so good, so amazing was the fact that apple took the time to care for things you wouldn't never notice. You only notice, when you change platforms and see that "wow, i really missed this and I really missed that".

To be honest Samsung have no idea what they are up against here in Australia. At least where I am you can walk down a busy street and your are almost guaranteed to see an iPhone. Simple fact is the iPhone is the single biggest phone in the Australian market. Heck to that extent, I know people and your like I've got a HTC or any other smart phone and their response would be along the lines of "What is that? Is it like an iPhone?"

Fair call Australia may not be Apple's biggest market but I am willy to bet that the iPhone's market share in Australia would be larger then in most other countries.

I have;

A Mac Book Pro 15" (with Apple care).
iPhone 4.
iPad 1. (with Apple care)
Time Capsule 1TB.
Magic trackpad.
Wireless keyboard.
Apple rechargeable batteries and charger.
iPod classic.

I am delighted with all the above, all are currently used. I am clearly not an Apple hater but in the same token I do not have a rose tinted view of their company..

As to the original post, I regard the actions that Samsung are taking are a direct result of the actions Apple have taken. Both companies should stop wasting money with their tit for tat actions and get on with what they do best, and that is to produce stunning electronic consumer products. Those on this forum that are wringing their hands and stamping their feet about Samsung should also show the same amount of frustration with Apple.

Sorry not trying to pick a fight with you (This thread seems especially pciky and heated - albeit somewhat entertaining in that regard) but why the apple batteries and charger? I get everything else, and also have soem of the same - but the batteries and charger always struck me as one thing completely too much (for me).

Just wondering, I'm not judging. :)

Critisicing Apple=/= hating on Apple.

I noticed you changed his wording. He said "You don't like Apple"
which you strengthened to 'hating'.

I also noticed that the other guy didn't deny this assertion.

How about you?

It's funny how many people who don't particularly like Apple or its products feel the strong need to keep the rest of us 'grounded' Even if we were sucked into the reality distortion field, do you really mind if we enjoy it.

I was sitting in the canteen at work a few nights ago reading the paper, I'd just got my new white iPhone 4S and there was a big full page Samsung advert, showing a white phone - a guy (who wants an iPhone 4 or 4S, but doesn't really know, care or bother about Apple & their disputes) genuinly thought the samsung phone was an iPhone 4S.

Saying that, I do wish both Apple & Samsung could end these disputes.

I have had similar experiences too. The techy sort know the difference, but not everyone does. I once saw a middle-aged woman go into a cell phone kiosk specifically asking for an iPhone. The sales rep immediately pulls out an Android device and starts showing it to her. She didn't know the difference. When he walked away for a moment, I told her that it wasn't an iPhone.

Her response? "Good, because it felt kind of cheap". She really felt that way when she compared it side to side with my iPhone 4. I directed her where she could go to get a real iPhone.

Samsung Galaxy S2 beats the 4S. Here's a comparison: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp0HlX1ySGg&feature=relmfu

Yet another biased review. Opening apps at the same time as a comparison? Saying Siri is limited because he doesn't know how to use it? This is not a review, but shows how far some "reviewers" will go to bash products that threaten there choices. I will wait for toms hardware or another reputable sites review. Not some hack job.

TBH, I had a bit of spare cash at the time, I do find that they work superbly well with the trackpad and wireless keyboard, although I have not tried anything else as far as a comparison goes.

I do understand where you are coming from and agree, that purchase could be a bit to far.

Heh heh, I get it! Money burning a hole! :) I ALMOST did the same once when wandering Best Buy, after having just purchased the trackpad. If I didn't already have a recharger and some batteries at home (~16 AA's and AAA's) I probably would've done the same. And, while I can't recall the price right now, I seem to remember being aghast!

Wasn't it like 40-60 or something?

I mean come on, as much as I can spend money frivolously like the next guy, the price on those felt abusive (granted I can't remember the actual price - just my shock!)

Thanks for the answer! Cheers

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/9A334)

This is painful to watch.

"We are now counter-attacking Apple again."

LOL. Duly noted.

Made me smile, thank you. I think I was probably in the same situation as you. Sadly, my self control wasn't as resolute as yours.

I think Apple does have a right to enforce their design patents, despite what android fans say... Apple designs ARE basically their trademark.

You don't have a KIA look like a BMW and then say... "oh.. BMW can't sue us for stealing their ENTIRE design because it has a KIA logo on it... people will obviously be able to tell the difference from 10 feet away!"

Design patents are intellectual property and they should be enforced.

And this is coming from someone who has an Android HTC and a Samsung phone that I got at the time because the iPhone retailed at full price (both have caused me many many headaches). I agree that this is a bad PR move reflecting badly mostly on Samsung... it has largely turned me away from their products.

Just remember folks... the majority of people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two. My mother couldn't tell me what an iPod touch was but she knew it was some kind of Apple product because of the design... Apple is unparalleled when it comes to design. It's what sets them apart.

You do know how big of a company Samsung is?

I do - Do you know the value of their component sales to Apple as a percentage of their revenue? it is significant as has been stated in several news articles on the subject.

It has to be weird to be at war with one of your customers.
