apple is very late to embrace wireless charging . Most of the other features you noted were available on android in one way or another . Apple is late these days with hardware features. 2017 we get olded and wireless ..... ummm that is years behind
Wireless charging was available on my "electric toothbrush" 20+ years ago. But as far as wireless charging in phones, yes most manufacturers of phones running android had it first. OLED been around since 1989 and has it's significant share of issues(imo), can't say apple is late with it, but was cautious and wanted to make sure users had a good experience with it.

Each year Android also get buggier and buggier as well. Features might be the same on all platforms but the overal experience is still vastly different though.
Clearly you've never used Android over the past few years until now. Because your statement is a blatant lie.
[doublepost=1513443351][/doublepost]
I am truly amazed with people that will notice .7%.
Well almost as much as I am with people clinging on to being corded with their phone but boast about wirelessly charging.
That statement was made because someone said the Galaxy s8 has bigger bezels. He proved that is a lie.

I haven’t used the headphone jack since the iPhone 3GS when I got my first pair of stereo Bluetooth headphones since then I’ve only had to buy 3 pairs of headphones
Alright, personally I always found as something I use in spurts. So I like my "low tech" cables for many reason:
Don't have to worry about charging yet another thing.
Many serious quality headphones don't come in bluetooth flavor or lightning flavor. Even if they did come in a lightning option, why would I but something I can use on my phone but not Macbook?
Bluetooth does degrade audio, it's not always obvious but in some cases I've been able to hear it.

At least it still has a headphone jack.
Yay! Samsung still uses technology from 1878!

NEWSFLASH:
As recently as 2010, Samsung phones came equipped with a proprietary headphone port. Adapters were also needed for many Nokia phone models long before Apple removed the century old tech from the iPhone.

And for the past 50 years or so, anyone who wants to connect their “awesome non-earbud headphones that Apple has totally screwed them eith” to an actual stereo or hi-fi (in order to listen to listen to actual high quality audio) has also needed a professional adapter to go from 3.5mm to ¼ inch.

Small adapters are a common item for anyone who’s used audio equipment for the past, say, 100 years or so. Apple provides a tiny one free with every iPhone should you need one, as well as a free pair of EarBuds with a lightning plug because most people just use those.

So for the love of god, can we please, once and forever, stop whining about this non-story?

I'm more interested in what the Note9 would be. I have the iPhone X and my bf has the Note8. And goddamn I'm jealous of the things his phone sometimes.
People complaining about the bloatware that Samsung puts on their phones may be correct to a certain extent, but like someone said above, iOS has been a big PITA with iOS 11 lately. Samsung's phones (at least the Note series) is way superior to the functionality than the iPhone, at least right now. Oh how I wished for Pencil support on the X but was disappointed.
And yes, right now, Samsung's designs are much better than what Apple has been putting out currently. The last iPhone I truly found beautiful was the 5/5S series. But hey, that's just my opinion. Just like the same way how some of you saying Samsung's phones are horrible.
I’m curious about what you’re jealous of on the Note 8, other than the golf pencil?

For the first time in a couple of years, I don’t really care about what Samsung is bringing. For one, it looks like a spec and camera bump, so an “S” year for them. Plus this iPhone X is kickass so far. I love this thing and can’t put it down even a month and a half after launch.

the point here, wireless charging works exactly the same as the competitors, which they could have introduced years ago. the excuse people are making is that apple takes their time to do it right.......its the exact same implementation..... yes apple is late. OLED, its on par with the competition. I am not buying the face apple took their time to implement it right, when the screen had a big notch, and its on par with with other phones, taking wireless and OLED as an example.

What apple DID right, for such a long time, was not compete with the hardware, cause the user experience was so superior....this is where they are loosing ground fast these days as they match the competitors with Gimmicks and hardware features.

Also, let’s be honest, wireless charging is a mixed bag and kinda gimmicky. To do wireless charging you need to buy an additional accessory that is typically a large disk that sits on your desk taking up space (as opposed to a tiny, thin cord which takes up none). I have cheap, tiny cords hidden all over my house so that I can charge my iPhone/iPad while at my desk, in the kitchen, sitting on the couch, in bed, or driving. If I wanted the “magic” of wireless charging I’d need to buy 5 of those clunky disks and have them cluttering up my life.

Oh, and the kicker: you can’t really use the phone when it’s on a “wireless” charger, so if you’re phones running low on juice you better plan on not using it.

Like I said, mixed bag. Wake me when they develop real wireless changing that goes through the air (as opposed to inductive charging). That will be a real game changer.

You gotta get your facts straight. Apple didn’t use OLED at first because it had a lot of disadvantages along with its advantages. Then, once the tech improved, they didn’t use them because their weren’t enough being made on planet earth for all the iPhones that are sold every year. Now they use them because Samsung can finally make enough of them.

(Also, the notch is unrelated to whether they use OLED or LCD.)

Wireless charging works the same way as does wifi and bluetooth. Except that apples upcoming wireless charging pad knows the charge capacity of all devices on it. So yes apple is late, but they have a twist on it.

I don't see apple losing ground, maybe you do but we'll see about their financials to see how much they actually did lose.

I do believe they have some great stuff planned. Their ideas may not be the best when applied to their products, but it sure helps to have competition.

People keep citing the software as Apple's advantage, but each year iOS gets buggier and the differences in features between all platforms (mobile and computers) grows smaller.
You’re missing the point of Apple’s software advantage. It’s not just software features, it’s software useability. [Edited] Fancy features are nice. Usable features are better. And Apple still has an advantage there.

(Btw, I am definitely frustrated by the bugginess of iOS 11. It’s below Apple’s standards and not OK. They need to tamp that **** down, fast! But let us not fool ourselves into thinking that Galaxy phones don’t have a myriad of bugs and weird software glitches themselves. They just don’t become national news.)

Android developers are not behind Apple in face ID, the One Plus 5T already has it and it's faster than Apple's.

Probably more secure too since there are no reports of children or Asian faces being able to unlock it.
Because their isn’t a cottage industry built around poking holes in OnePlus’s products.

“Probably more secure too”? You are literally making up nonsense.

My son's S6 Edge is still getting updates. Stop with the misinformation.

Android users might wait longer for software updates but Apple users are guaranteed to wait years for hardware updates.

As for software experience, that's where Android is king--almost 90% of the world's smartphone users can attest to that. And it's why iPhone users jailbreak and why every version of iOS 7 through present has steadily added 50 things from Android that I can easily list.
You could also list 100 things that Samsung adds from iPhones.

Also, get hip, daddy-o. Jailbreaking hasn’t really been a “thing” for a while now.

Sadly there is an element of catch up these days.
Yep. Samsung is catching up on True Tone Displays, FaceID, 3D Touch, dual cameras with telephoto lenses + Portrait Mode, optical image stabilization, Stereo Speakers... the list goes on and on.

When you see things from only one perspective, you miss the big picture. Many tech companies create cool features that others wind up copying. Apple just does it more often, and often in more significant ways, than other companies. And they have been since their inception. It’s in their DNA. But it doesn’t mean that other companies to do some cool stuff as well.

No notch and no protruding rear camera. Already, they're ahead in design.

I am perfectly fine with the notch. As for the camera, still not bothered as long as there are quality improvements. I have my iPhone x in an Apple case, and with it is perfectly flush. Samsung on the other hand,as much as I dislike then as a company, have been doing great on their galaxy designs.
[doublepost=1513451292][/doublepost]

The one thing I will never miss. Had the galaxy s8,used for 6 months and never used the heaphone jack. Guess what I used?Apple Airpods. Would hate to go back to annoying wires.

Everyone kicking sand on the Samung S9...relax. Don't worry. The iPhone's most wanted feature, the heart of iOS, the one thing everyone buys an iPhone for...animojis, won't be on the Samsung. You can still claim that little gem (embarrassment) as all yours.
You gotta be a special kinda curmudgeon to not see what’s fun about Animojis.

And you gotta be a special kind of oblivious to not recognize that they’re the bi-product of an important, underlying technology that is vastly superior to anything available on any other phone and that will have a significant, positive impact on the future of phone design and how human beings interface with technology.

But by all means, revel in your cynicism. The people who appreciate the fusion of technology and imagination will be over here sending Animojis to our family and friends.

Right ...... so when apple takes their time , its to do a feature right .... except when it's not .... well done , all bases covered .

So, Apple the last to wireless , and air power is suppose to be a valid reason? Serious ? Sure you can take it, I think it's poor.

Let's disagree
Dude, please stop.

Huh? You can delete most stock apps now. Been like that since iOS 10. I haven’t had the stocks app installed in a long time. Samsung only “disables” it, plus you usually can’t disable the garbage from Verizon and other carriers.
Explain the issue with an app being "only disabled" and no icon on the homesceen?

You’re missing the point of Apple’s software advantage. It’s not just software features, it’s software useability. Why are there way more iPhone photos on Flickr than Galaxy photos? Is it because there are way more iPhones out there than Galaxys? Nope. When they do studies about how average people in the real world actually use their devices, iPhone users typically use way more features and derive much greater functionality from their devices than Samsung/Android users do. Fancy features are nice. Usable features are better. And Apple still has an advantage there.

I take plenty of photos and utilise camera features on my phone.
Why exactly would I need to use Flickr to in some way validate my use of my phones features?

Edit: To clarify, I do not use Flickr nor see any need to use it.

There is way more iPhones than galaxy's lol. You're basing phone features usage based on how many iPhone users and galaxy users use Flickr? Really? Wow.

I highly doubt iPhone users do more on their iPhones than Android users. I would say they are equal. Most persons with smart phones use it for social media, pictures, browsing the web and calls / text. However, there are many Android users that do so much more on Android Vs iPhones which can't do to alot of what Android can do to begin with.

Any high quality headphones I have used for the last 25 years or more have had 3.5mm jack plugs. They have connected with any portable audio equipment I have owned including my present Fiio music player. My Marantz 2nd gen cd player I still use since late 80s has a 1/4" socket with a 3.5mm permanently inserted. This is a complete non issue and I fail to understand the point you are trying to make.
