That man was he most annoying person ever to listen at Keynotes, thank God he is gone! To those wanting him (or iOS 6 style) back- move along, it ain't going back as it looks dated. iOS 7 & 8 look so much better. Stop living in the past.

He ran ios did he not? the head of the department takes responsibility- that's life in management. It should have been tested far more, granted there was exaggeration of the issues but there was little mechanisms for improvement - for instance the correction I made on maps for the location of the Scottish baptist college STILL has not been changed.

Which makes it his fault how????

He's gone, and has been for some time, and you say problems are still ignored? Sounds like the problems are with the people who stayed, not the people who left.

Forstall running the show?!? Yeah right, look at the mess he made with maps.....why have you all forgotten that. He got sacked for screwing up - he also did not keep high enough standards.
.

Apple purchased the database from TomTom. Cook made the decision to go live with Maps.

Some of you must have just started using Apple products, otherwise you would have more respect for Forstall and his influence at Apple. I would feel much more confident about iOS if he was still around

I first started using the iPhone in 2011. It was great. Ios7 is great too, and bugs aside, I like the new direction Apple is taking. I can no longer go back to pre-ios7 UI. Hire Scott back to work in software by all means, but keep him away from interface design.

The current problem with iOS is it's glitches and some UI problems. Other than that I love how they're starting to add features users have been requesting for years. I think Apple is headed the right direction. Good thing Forstall is gone because going back to iOS 6 is like go back to Windows 95...it just sucks.

lol no thanks.

Oh god. That looks hideous.

Steve Wozniak on the 2012 announcement about Scott Forstall

Keen On… Steve Wozniak: Why Woz Worries Microsoft Is Now More Innovative Than Apple [TCTV] | TechCrunch (2012-11-14, referred from Steve Wozniak worries that 'Microsoft is becoming more innovative than Apple' - News - Macworld UK, 2012-11-19) – the question about Forstall is around 04:52 on the timeline.

Ask Steve Wozniak Anything - Slashdot (2012-10-01) – no mention of Forstall. I guess that this preceded Apple's announcement.

If Forstall's departure from Apple was principled (e.g. refusing to accept inappropriate blame), then I applaud him for that.

It's not that iOS 6 was bad, because we used to love it. But looking now at my iPad 1... is just... nah....

iOS 8 has a gorgeous and minimalist blue screen of death.

Forstall wouldn't let us have such Windowseque feature.

Appreciating good design in Apple software

Every day I use iOS 3.1.3 and think "yeah".

If someone gifts to me a device with iOS 6.x, 7.x or 8.x: I'll probably enjoy the OS, with more "yeah", but that will not cause me to dislike 3.1.3.

… You know what, and this is just my personal preference, I prefer that to Yosemite. It's not because, as some on this forum have accused, I'm just old and stuck in the past. I'm only 21 and started with SL, but even I prefer that look. I like a little depth as opposed to everything looking like paper taped to glass.

Every time I view that image, I appreciate the beauty of what's there. A little of QuickTime Player was easy to ridicule – true – but with one exception, I see nothing to dislike about the UI. The one exception: I never understood why windows were not more easily resizable.

No-one ridiculed the post. No-one disagreed.

He is on his yacht drinking martinis with his guest while deliberating this very thing.

You seriously think Forstall would stick with the iOS6 look and would never update it?? His version of iOS8 would look just like iOS6? Erm, ok.

What was the point?

Read my post again …

The original post is no longer found. Defender2010, what point did you make about Forstall?

(From sunking101's quote of what you wrote, I see only that you were annoyed by someone's stage presence. Are you an actor?)

The post is one above your comment. Actor? God no! I'm confused as to what u mean. I basically meant he was annoying!

In the very least, I daresay that Scott's version of ios8 would be nowhere near what we have today, given his love of skeumorphism.

No software is picture perfect, but it was definitely more stable. The lone argument of skeuomorphism is tired and weak. The man was responsible for a lot of things that make iOS and OS X great.

From his wiki:

Forstall was also responsible for creating a software developer's kit for programmers to build iPhone apps, as well as an App Store within iTunes

Don't sit up here and pretend that the man wasn't a great asset.

Apple has many many great assets... And sadly no matter how cool or great a programmer he was you cannot lose a 100 great assets to keep one... It isn't a worth it...

lol no thanks.

Ouch my eyes...! Too much chrome...
