My bet is that they announce the MBP but it will not be available for purchase until 2020.

The could do that with the Mac Pro because they weren't selling well but if they do that with the MacBook Pro their sales for the quarter would take a beating (Osborne Effect).

When there is a major design flaw, they tend to happen in the 1st gens. Not always, of course. And sometimes they don't fix them in subsequent gens.

Personally, I'll buy the 16" immediately if it has a scissor keyboard (and doesn't make any super-goofy design choices, like removing all ports, or making the trackpad pink, or whatever.

I just hope it has a rainbow logo! :)

My only question would be if they replace the 15-inch model with the 16-inch, where does the new machine fall in line with pricing? If its the same or very near the existing price points then I think thats a small win for Apple. Either way, I look forward to seeing whats new.

Historically, Apple engineers products toward a particular price point - although with Mac you can have some drift when they come out with a new model with new technologies.

The iMac is the only thing in the lineup lacking a T2 chip. I wonder why it isn't getting any update, along wit much needed SSD by default config.

What’s the price increase gonna look liked compared to the current MBP lineup? I’m wondering how much they’ll jack it up with these new models.....

What they did with the original retina 15 inch MacBook Pro. They introduced updated original MacBook pros, then introduced the new retina MacBook Pro. It was like an extra $500.
Yeah, but over time the prices came down back to a more inflation-adjusted normal. Lately Apple has been adding things like the iPad Pro, iPhone X, iMac Pro, etc that have stayed at a high price. I feel like this would be the new normal. Just upgrade the existing crap.

I know this is wishful thinking on my part, but it would be cool if Apple made its Macbooks modular again (i.e., add my own RAM, SSD, battery, etc...). To me, modularity was a very appealing quality of Macbooks from back in the day...
Modularity was a function of thickness. Nobody wants a chunky/heavier laptop now.

I think this is gonna be like the 2012 Retina model all over again. They are gonna release small updates on the 2019 machines. And then they will introduce a newly designed laptop. That design will gradually trickle down to all models.
In 2012, Apple started out with the Retina line with the 15 inch model. And introduced the 13 inch model several months later.
Yeah, I had that one. But I'm not so sure that Apple operates that way nowadays. Things go up and price and don't come back down. They don't seem very interested in the Mac anymore and are therefore jacking up the price to make it worthwhile to them.

they should release this with the new scissor keyboard, or it will let down some people. I'm getting worried there are no rumours about them making the touchbar optional or bringing back the tacile ESC key.

Why would they update the MBA and 13” MBP when they just refreshed them in July?
Indeed. I just bought a MBA (July version), but now another update three months later? Makes little sense. I hope I will be able to exchange it, or at least get a significant refund for trading it with the new.

well those renders feature Touch Bar on all machines, so i can see a MacBook air "Pro" model with new keyboard and Touch Bar.

I have high hopes for these redesigns when they come into the real world. Until then, my 15" 2019 MBP will have to get me through.

Bring it, Apple.

I'll keep my MacBook pro 17" late 2011 as long as I can. Would upgrade to the new 16" if Apple get rid of buttersux keyboard and make the parts upgradable again. I think it's outrageous to trash the motherboard if the ssd or memory brake. And maxing out specs for longevity at Apple is expensive as hell. My MacBook came with 4gb RAM and 5400rpm HD, ok config for the time. Now it's maxed out with dual SSD and 16gb RAM with 3rd party parts, cheap and reliable.

It seems way too early for another refresh. If this is true, I image that this year's earlier refreshes were just to give a little speed bump.

Working in a corporate environment, my main concern is that October release means they would require Catalina and that is way too soon for us to have it certified for use here.

I had actually thought that the recent refreshes meant we were safe until next year. :(

Might have to stock up on the current 15" models before then.

Avoiding Catalina was the main reason I just pulled the trigger on some 15" MBPs for business. We're sticking with Mojave or below for the foreseeable future.

Apple have been the biggest ********ters since they released the new MBPs.

The original MBPs were $1999, they then released the new Macbook pros by keeping the $1999 old macbook pros and priced the new ones at $2399.

Now the new macbook pros START at $2399.

These 16 inchers are going to start at $2799, with the original ones at $2399...
