I think this proves that just like with the Antennagate issue....a minority that screams the loudest can seem larger than it actually is.

Like a certain group that drinks Lipton. ;)

What? Lipton green tea is BEASTLY, MAN! Mmm..

No problems wit iPhone 4 or ATT

Having had all the iPhones I have no issues with iPhone 4, not using case and using left hand. Att is fine including in NYC. Had Sprint before and that wa much worse. Also, had bad airport extreme at genius bar (replaced for free ) and genius says reception on iPhone 4 a non issue in terms of service problems. Proximity sensor needs to be fixed.

Honestly for me I've had no problems with AT&T I switched from Verizon a year ago and haven't noticed a difference.

However living in the North East (metropolitan central) it doesn't seem to matter who you have for a provider as the coverage is solid just about everywhere.

Lipton green tea is just tea with green food coloring. Read the ingredients.

Lies! They say it's made of green tea leaves! Made with care.. Like an apple product.

Dude your telling me nobody smiled when they got there iphone4 on launch day?

Exactly. I'd be jumping up and down, doing cart wheels... If I was eligible. *eye roll*

That is because you shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. I have no issues with ATT or my ip4. I think most of complaints are from non-ATT users.

No way, I have had all 3 iPhones (waiting on 4th) and I can tell you that in NYC no matter what phone you have AT&T sucks. I don't know anyone who is happy with it, period.

Not only that, I know people who have given up their iPhones to switch carriers. It's a serious problem...

************

I live in North East PA and the 3G coverage is spotty at best. When I'm at school I do not have 3G coverage, I pull out of the parking lot and go about 100 feet (in any direction), I have a 3G signal.

I go 3 miles from my house (where I do not have 3G coverage), north or south, I have 3G coverage.

What AT&T should do is have a compny do an independent study. Anyone on AT&T should be sent a free text message to their phone, the user replys yes or no. The question: Are you satisfied with AT&T's coverage or service?

Then lets see how this turns out. Take this post with a grain of salt. It does not give a fair representation of all the users, only the few that took the time to answer the survey.

The mature, intelligent discussion should not be about whether each carrier "sucks" or not, it should be about having more than one option.

Even if you are happy with one carrier, you should realize that other people might not share your experience for any number of reasons.

Having the option of iphone on more than one network is good for everyone, whether you plan to stay with ATT or move to another network. The competition serves all consumers better than this monopoly. Frankly I don't understand how this one network option is even legal. There should be lawsuits over this (and I say that as a very satisfied Apple consumer). You should have the option of buying a phone and choosing your network, even if it costs more.

That said, I'll believe iphone is coming to another network when Apple announces it. As of now I do not believe it.

While I have yet to see any issues with reception, I will say, I was talking on the phone and kept getting this annoying tone. I asked the person on the other side to stop hitting the number keys. I was the one doing it.

I think it is strange that people go crazy over a trivial issue while a problem that does have the potential to be annoying is ignored.

If the proximity sensor can not be fixed with a software patch, give us the option to lock off the touch screen when on a voice call. If we need to look something up or press 7 for English, we can slide to unlock.

And yet, Consumer Reports does nothing about them. When they tested the iPhone for signal loss, how come they didn't bother to test other smart phones as well, to determine whether this is consistent and a normal behavior of smart phones. But they didn't. They just tested the iPhone without testing all other smart phones and said NO BUY. How stupid can you be not to test others..

Simple: Apple put a marker on the phone that

1. tells the whiners where to put their fingers to drop reception
2. tells the users where _not_ to put their fingers to make phone calls.

The other phones don't have that. They require at least high double digits IQ to find how to hold it to drop reception.

The hard statistics (return rates, customer surveys) show otherwise. Yes, there are a few unhappy (and very vocal customers) who have issues. When you have over 90 million users, you should expect a few who are not happy.

over 85.1 million wireless customers... you only need 5% at most to be statisticlaly significant. That means over 80.845 million at&t customers weren't asked the survey.... just FYI

Ahhhh... but you see, the 5% needs to be truly random.

If, oh, somehow, the 5% is, oh, I don't know, skewed to, oh, I don't know, to markets where, jeez, AT&T actually has good service, then gosh, those results will tend to come out a bit different than they might otherwise...

In Chicago, voice call performance is truly poor, I routinely will drop 2 or 3 times on a call of any length, I've come to expect drops now.

Now, I will say that data performance is really good, so I'll give credit there.

Well, I have Verizon, and it is not as great as some of you people rooting for a Verizon iPhone make it out to be. Sure, coverage is good, but I've never experienced worst customer service in my life and their nickel and dime(ing) gets old. I will be switching to another carrier when my contract is up.

...after 3+ years of promises, they still had no 3G service in the city where I live, Santa Fe, NM. I went to Verizon and the Droid Incredible, and I'm as happy as a pig in ****.

Ironically, AT&T is promising (again) 3G coverage here within 2-3 months. We'll see if that really happens.

I was also happy when ATT 3G finally came to my city a few months back. But I ended up turning it off after only a few days because of the noticeable battery drain. EDGE is not that bad, I don't think. Sure I notice a difference with 3G and I'd like to use it all the time, but by 5 PM the difference in battery for me is 20-30% less with 3G. Until batteries are better and chips use less power, I can live without it for day to day use.

Why?

Why make the suggestion at all when you discount the proposal in the same post? And you're right...that type of a survey is hardly scientific.

The whole country is not San Fran and NYC.

On the other hand, I've had plenty of dropped calls in Ann Arbor MI. On the other hand, now that I have the iphone 4, I've had zero dropped calls. On the other hand, it's summertime, which means 40,000 rich University of Michigan students, with their 35,000 iphones, are off jamming their home networks right now.

I guess I'll find out in the fall, regarding AT&T and their "adequate coverage" . . .

Huge dif between the 3G/S and iP4 when it comes to battery life. Are you claiming poor EDGE/3G performance on a 3G or iP4 phone?

It seems that the most complaints on this forum about AT&T seem to come from the Bay Area???

My service happens to be weak at my house, but very useable. Otherwise, it's rare that I have issues with AT&T service and I travel a lot. I know in-store service and customer service has always been excellent. Better IMHO than Verizon. I've have their service on another phone.

I'm sure they all can improve their services... I think most of the people complaining about AT&T just don't like that they don't have a choice. Hopefully for Apple's sake that will change soon. More choice will help expansion of the iPhone.

Agreed about more options. However, I don't think it is illegal. Apple and AT&T took a risk.....and it has paid off. Both had to invest time/money. There has to be a reward for taking risks or else companies would not take them.

The people complaining are a select few that just doesn't stop.

And some people actually desire another carrier for any number of reasons. Not only current iphone users, but people who would like to get one but are waiting for more options.
