Need Help Firmware!!!

1. Bootloader only changes to 3.9 from 4.6 if and only if you press the "Do it All" button which unlocks, activates and jailbreaks or if you use the Advance Features to downgrade. Jailbreaking does not alter your bootloader.

2. Apple has no way (next to impossible) of telling whether an iPhone was jailbroken and then wiped clean by the Restore function.

Jav6454, I have a quick question for you. I was able to activate and jailbreak my iphone. I did not upgrade my firmware because I did need to do it. I notice that all new application are mostly compatible with firmware 1.1.4. The current version I have is 1.1.1. How can I upgrade to the new version? do I need to restore the phone and then activate and jailbreak or can I just upgrade via itunes straight without resetting. Thank you

I have a friend in Costa Rica who has an unlocked iphone. He is wondering how to remove music and videos that were on the phone when he got it. Any suggestions?

He is also wondering if he can sync his other phone with the iphone through bluetooth.

I'd really appreciate any info you might have. It's hard to find information in Spanish.

I have tried iLiberty+, ZiPhone, and iJailbreak, all of these had the same problem, after about 1-2 mins of having the apps open it freezes and I have to restart, I've restored it about 10 times and it seems nothings working, what would you suggest I do?

thanks.

Did you install BSD Subsystem from The System Category in Installer?

If not, then thats your source of the problem, applications require BSD Subsystem to be installed to run properly.

FAQ is normal...

Hey dude,I like your FAQ about like 45 percent, caurse you NEED TO UPDATE it,about PAWNAGE,its NOT only for MAC though..

unable to pwn

Thanks for the great FAQ.

I've just bought the UK iphone. Tried using Pwnage but after pressing iPwner & the phone reboot in Recovery mode, it showed "NOR flashing failed" error.

I have downloaded 1.1.4 on my desktop. However I don't know the actual iphone firmware as itunes ask to complete the O2 activation before I can start using the iphone; but I assume that it's 1.1.4 since it was bought in May. If it's not 1.1.4, I can't restore to 1.1.4 via itunes as I'm stuck at O2 activation as above.

I'm using itunes 7.6.2 (latest) & Pwnage tool 1.1

Any help would be appreciated!

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding basebands being changed and bootloaders when unlocking. For anyone using iLiberty+ if you select to downgrade your bootloader to 3.9FB your baseband will NOT change. In the faq it states that it will. People should not be confused on this.

"iLiberty+ goes further than ZiPhone and iPlus, it utilizes the advantages of 3.9FB as well as gunlock, it can unlock a phone with bootloaders 3.9, 3.9FB, 4.6, and 4.6FB.

For bootloader 4.6 and 4.6FB, iLiberty+ doesn’t automatically downgrade it, it lets user make his/her own decision. If the user doesn’t check “Downgrade bootloader” option, then phone will still be unlocked, baseband will be changed to 04.02.13 after unlock. If the user does check the “Downgrade bootloader” option, then bootloader will be downgraded to 3.9FB first then unlock, and baseband version will not change after unlock. iLiberty+ also uses 3.9FB to downgrade bootloader when asked so it’s reversable as well."

Just trying to clear somethings up. I know it can be confusing.

Old FAQ, I{m still cleaning up.

Sorry to ask this here, but does anyone know what they are doing to unlock iphones on this website?

www.unlocksiphones.com

Looks very easy based on FAQ and says you can restore back to factory via tool. I know it is not free, but for people that don't want to use an advanced tool this may be good. Saw the ad on Macrumors for it.

A recommendation for an update to the guide, the thing I was looking for was a section that explains clearly, if you just want to unlock iPhone and not jailbreak do XYZ. This section would explain how to unlock without changing BL or BB, etc. This would be for the ones that get cold feet and just want to use the phone on T-Mobile, etc and do not care about the Apps. Also makes it easier to restore back to factory with out have to reflash BL, etc.

To clear things up, unlock=flashing bootloader, jailbreaking=no flashing bootloader.

The solution messes with your bootloader the same as any other unlocking method. Don't pay for it. Read up on pwning your phone. It might sound convoluted at first, but just lpay around with google and you will stumble on many guides that simplify the process for you.

It's cake once you realize it all comes down to 4 steps.

Thanks for the great faq. I was wondering when the new iphone comes out with firmware 2.0, what is the best tool to activate, unlock and jailbreak? Pwnage? Is there anything out there for Windows?

Thanks.

if i am understanding this thread correctly, if I have a jailbroken iPhone running 1.0.2, the only way I can get 1.1.4 up and running is to install and upgrade the 1.1.4 firmware (and thus erasing my phone with any third party apps, etc.) and then jailbreak the phone all over again with ZiPhone?

This thread should be unstickied! as its confusing for most people to not understand it is out of date!

As far as 2.0 goes - the ONLY method now is using pwnage however that has to be updated for the final version of 2.0 on Friday so you will have to wait for that.

No other existing method works (including iLiberty and ziphone).

As for 1.1.4 - you can update to 1.1.4 using iTunes and then use iLiberty to jailbreak/unlock but you may have problems with your jailbreaked settings still being on the phone even although your apps are no longer there!

That is why it is best to restore to 1.1.4 and set up the phone as new and then jailbreak/unlock.

AVOID ZIPHONE! it may break your phone and iliberty is much safer so use that! (the safest method is pwnage which works on 1.1.4 - read my FAQ stickied as well).

Really? did you read my previous post where I said I was modifying it still? Guess not.

Also, the FAQ has been changed to Facts and are up-to-date as promised before. Tittle is changed to accommodate new 3G iPhone to be released and 2.0 software.

After installing the 2.0 firmware I managed to go back to 1.1.4 though my baseband version is 04.05.04_G and bootloader 3.9.

Is there anyway to go down from 04.05.04_G so I can unlock my phone again?

Thanks,

well according to BigBoss and his website, you have to choose 4.6 Neutered and unlock to be able to have 04.04.05_G.

Note: I have not done this procedure, but I trust BigBoss and this procedure as his reputation is comparable to that of Ericka Sadun and others in the iPhone world.

3) Restore using iTunes 7.5. You will get an error like 1011, 1013, 1015. This is normal and expected. An error 1601, 1602, 1600 or anything else is not ok.

Well, I am following the steps exactly but i continue to get a a 1604 error, which is 'not ok'. Any advice on how i can achieve the beauty of a 101x error?
Thanks, Greg.

My applogies I thought it was out of date!

As long as you direct pwnage issues to my thread we can give each other a bump lol ;)

Quick Question

I just have a quick question for you wise guru's of the iPhone!

I have a 1st gen iPhone, that was previously running firmware 1.1.4 and was jailbroken but NOT unlocked (I am on AT&T's network).

Yesterday I downloaded and installed manually firmware 2.0 5A347 (which may not be the official release).

I want to return to 1.1.4, and I'm confident I can follow the instructions provided for doing so, however I'm curious about a few things:

  1. What affect will Baseband 04.05.05 have on my phone if I downgrade to 1.1.4? Will this prevent it from being usable? What side effects are there?
  2. Will I be able to update to the official 2.0 firmware when it comes out, or will iTunes still believe I have the 2.0 firmware because of Baseband 04.05.05?

Thanks in advance for any insight you guys can provide! I love these forums, so many helpful people! :-D

  1. The steps here are not confirmed by me but many people have already used them without side effects. As per the baseband it will become 04.04.5_G (which is 1.1.4) and your iPhone will work as normal. To upgrade again just use the upgrade button in iTunes7.7. Questions? just post.

The only problem is Bootneuter doesn't allow me to go from my current bootloader (3.9, not neutered, not unlocked) to anything else.

I have a feeling this is because I have the newer baseband from the 2.0 firmware.

So I am not sure how BigBoss pulled that part off. Otherwise I can get on 1.1.4, just that I cannot unlock my phone due to the baseband incompatbility.

Need Help In Upgrade From 1.0.2 To 2.0

Hi there. I have a first generation iphone which i bought from ebay unlocked. As it was unlocked when i bought it, i have no clue what method was used to unlock it. My Iphone has version 1.0.2 (1C28) and modem firmware is 03.14.08_G. I have never upgraded my iphone ever since i bought it for the fear of losing its functionality. However, recently i heard about the app store and there is an application which i want to install on my iphone. That application requires upgrading to version 2.0 to buy it from itunes store. I therefore want to know the following.

1) Can i upgrade to version 2.0 and still keep my phone unlocked cuz im not using at&t.

2) If i can upgrade from 1.0.2 TO 2.0, can you please tell me in detail all the steps in laymans terms so that i can follow them and get it done.

3)Do i have to do that revirginize thingie ive read about? if i have to what tools do i need to reverginize and what are the steps involved.

4) if my phone gets bricked as a result of this process can i restore it??

im a novice as far as computers and phones are concerned and i would really appreciate any help that you guys can offer..
thanks..

O2 Users - No Need To Unlock Anymore!

NEW o2 activation rules! o2 are officially allowing people to use their o2 sim cards in original iphones, whether they are pay monthly or payg. you can check the o2 help and support section to confirm this. the only downside of using your current o2 contract sim is that the iphone may use EDGE and hence charge you if you dont have an internet bolt-on - which you can get & there are ways to disable edge anyway i think (without the need of using apps like bossprefs).

i myself have upgraded a ziphone unlocked 1.1.4 iphone to 2.0 through itunes without using any third party software... it upgraded fine and then asked the iphone to be activated - here there is an option to skip half of the registration process by clicking "this is not my iphone" - and hey presto! you have an activated iphone 2.0! im using an o2 simplicity contract simcard.

so o2 users - no need to unlock your iphone anymore! :)
