My point is that some people here just want free stuff. That was not a guide on how to obtain free bumper. When I called I didn't intend on getting a free bumper, I wanted support with the issue and the rep said he will help by sending a good will bumper. I don't mind, if you genuinely do have the antenna issue.

Then yes, its a good idea to ask if they can provide a bumper because its down right out of order if you have to pay £25 to fix the antenna issue. What I am saying is that some people are just wanting to do anything to get something for free - that I don't like.

There's a difference between "complaining" and phoning for support. If I wanted to complain, I could have gone directly to customer relations and probably managed to obtain a whole bunch of free apple products.

I agree with you. My intention when calling was for technical support and to make them aware of the issue. After the tech told me a bumper would help I asked about their return policy.

After being on hold for some time, I pointed out that they recommend the bumper to solve an issue with their phone. The I asked if they could provide me with one. She then put me in touch with a CSR who explained the return policy and said he would send me a bumper.

I didn't care if they gave me one or not, I may not even like it, but I do think it is good customer support. I doubt if I asked outright for a bumper they would have given me one. I was also very polite through the whole conversation and said how much I love the phone but it was problematic that it didn't always have reception.

I understand Apple not including a dock or a cleaning cloth (they come with about everything else with a screen anyway) to cut costs to make the final cost to the consumer cheaper.

What I do not understand is when my iPHONE doesn't make calls because I might hold it in a way that is natural and comfortable, as well as in the manner that Apple has told me how to hold it through their ads, they should offer a fix. Plain and simple, it is a defect in the phone and should be fixed by the manufacturer. At the very least, bumpers should be $15-20. Only Apple can get away with selling a large rubber band for $30.

That being said, I'm buying an iPhone 4 as soon as I can, and will probably buy a bumper... darn you, Apple.

With all these calls to applecare why are they not offering a replacement phone?

I ordered a bumper when I pre ordered my Iphone 4 and well be getting it today. However, I called Apple and asked for a refund because someone in the apple retail store told me to call up and asked for one. The funny thing when I was talking with the rep the called dropped and helped my case and the lady offered me a refund on my bumper. I refuse to pay for someone when people are getting them free and I'm having the problem. She stated "I don't they are doing this anymore but I feel for you and the problem your having."

ok, so i made my call as well to confirm my reception issue. it seems that even if u hold it a certain way in your palm it gets effected. The bottom black seems are the antennas, the rep explained it to me well and yea i seen it on here but just to put the icing on the cake the rep cleared it up for me. Basically hold it different and use a case LOL.. I was not offered a free one but thats fine because i have one on the way to me today that i bought.. I just wanted clarifaction nothing free. But now im annoyed and i hope Apple does something, either recall and fix the insulation around the antenna or something. A case will not fix this in the long run and peeps that dont like using cases will suffer most..

Let me get this right, above you complain about your iPhone not making calls. Then you tell us that you are going to buy an iPhone 4 as soon as you can? Dude are you complaining about the performance you are having with an earlier model iPhone or complaining about the one you don't have?

Correct they just offered me a free bumper not one word come up about a phone replacement. However, I never asked.

You know you have 30 days from date of purchase to return your phone no questions asked? Apple gives you a 100% refund, BB and Radio Shack may have a restocking fee.

Buy a droid if you are unwilling to wait for Apple to address the issue.

Brilliant. Complaining about a product you don't actually own :)

Everyone laughs and makes fun about my new phone being defective. Every single time I've handed it to them and told them to make a call drop. Not happened yet.

Not seen anyone else with one yet (I live in Eastern Europe), but looking forward ton trying out some facetime.

Don't have the reception issues but hey a free bumper is a free bumper. I called. Basically 5 min later they shipped me a black bumper.

Just got me a free white bumper. I tried on Sat. to get one for my signal issues but the senior Apple rep. told me he would call me back on Sat. afternoon with an answer for my case. Never received a call back, so ended up calling again and talked to another senior Apple rep. This time I was told to wait till Mon. for a possible resolution and that I would get a call from her Mon. morning. Waited till 4pm PST today and never received a follow up call, again.

So right now, got done talking to another senior Apple rep. and told him my whole story. He was able to see with the case #'s I provided, I was telling the truth. I explained I didn't appreciate being lied too and felt like I was being given the run around treatment. He agreed with me and just asked for my shipping address and gave me my choice of color for the bumper, I picked white.
I'm pretty happy now. I'll post e-mail when I receive it.

i already called twice today. thinking about calling again later tonight. I keep getting the we are out of bumpers reason. Are there different offices or something or are they just lying to me?

I was calling 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273). It seems to be hit or miss depending on the rep. you get and his/her willingness to help out.

So, has anyone who is getting the free bumper had it ship out yet? While I am glad I will be getting it for free, it could be shipped anytime from Thursday to next Wednesday. It would be kinda funny if I were to get it the same day that the iOS is updated and the update does solve the problem for me.

LOL I called the supervisor suggested for me to put electric tape around my phone....hhahahah stupid. She said she has been given strict orders not to give out any more free bumpers.

Got an update e-mail this morning for me free White bumper.
