this should be called "the unofficial im going to spend loads of money on a laptop that is out of date and could be bought for less the 500 pounds if it wasn't an apple" thread. Catchy i think you will agree

Something to fight the storm. For all those people who have enough of a life to go without the 20% cpu upgrade! But still have purchased one of the best laptops to date! The 'Current Macbook Pro' !

oh really!? It this attitude that hampers innovation, social change and basically moving the human race forward, thanks !

If we all thought the way you do, we'd still be arguing over crappy laptops with no battery...

no 640K should be enough for everyone !!

and everything that can be invented has been invented back in 1899 remember?

k. thx by!

I bought a 5.1 after the June '09s were out... got it new for a huge discount, and have a full 512MB 9600GT too. Sometimes old isn't always so bad. ;)

hey leave druean alone, he's got a valid point. everyone should just wait for the new arrandale to come out.

As that famous saying goes....

"pellebee is a.."

I just got my MBP about 2 weeks ago, so I am not waiting. When I posted about it. Someone, can't remember, suggested I should have waited because apple would unveil a new one on the 27th. Where is that person now? :)

I'm perfectly happy with my purchase

I'd gladly spend the money on a laptop that will be stable and reliable for years to come, thats why I am in this thread

My heart wants to buy a MacBook Pro today, my mind wants to wait another week to see if something comes up, it's really a hard decision because it's not just a 299$ Netbook maybe we could have a surprise on Feb 1, who knows.... Monday 1 Feb sounds like a possible date

My heart wants you:eek::)

If Apple breaks my heart on valentines day without a new MacBook Pro i will just buy the current one :(

I'm waiting for Arrandale, not because of the speed, not because of wanting to future proof my purchase, but because having a displayport with no audio is bull.... I want to connect my mac to an external monitor or TV without having to run a bunch of wires, JUST one wire! Now monoprice sells a direct cable that goes from mini-dp to hdmi, and as long as the next mbp outputs audio through that port, i'll be all set.

I'm buying a Late 2008 15" MBP, which the exact same as the current 15" 2.8 Core 2 duo MBP, but mine will have an express card slot, and a removable battery.... and Apple care until 2012.

All for $1300... I would be STUPID to wait for arrandale.

i find it hilarious how all these people have been waiting for months to make their purchase and will continue to wait based on rumor and speculation of what MIGHT be implemented in the mbp refresh. everyone assumes they will have these new i5's and i7's. ill be they guy laughing when the new mbp has neither processor and people ended up waiting all that time for a minor upgrade. look what happened with the iphone 3gs, how everyone assumed it would have a complete redesign with a front facing camera, thinner than the 3g, mutlitasking, etc. the 3gs was released, and guess what? it was NOTHING at all like what the rumors had suggested...so poeple can keep waiting for something thats not gaurenteed. i can understand wanting to get the most for your money, but people bashing others for making a purchase of computer that perfectly suites their needs, serioulsy how many people can say they truly need more processing power than the current mbp's? i just ordered my 1st mac and stoked to get it, a refresh that may or may not happen any time soon doesnt concern me, just the switch from windows os to mac os is good enough for me. people have a tendency to over hype apple products prior to release, then when they see the final version they end up disappointed because it didnt have X,Y,Z features. woohoo 1st post :p

i'm waiting.

i plan to future-proof my investment with a 17" i7 Badboy Pro.

I got the futurest proof 13" BadBoy Pro a few weeks ago.

I hope that you people are aware that you are infringing on a trademark.

I future-proofed my MBP with the Moshi PalmGuard.

Back in November I considered waiting for Arrandale, and I participated in the thread, but then the Black Friday Amazon Lightning Pricing happened, and I just couldn't pass up their price for the 13" MBP. As much as I love to buy the latest and the greatest, I didn't see much point in this case. For what I use a computer for, the current MBP is more than powerful.

Couldn't be happier.....

This thread basically boils down to the fact that there are three types of purchasers:
- Those who will always wait for the 'next best thing'
- Those who will buy whenever they have a need, regardless
- Those who are clueless and come to message boards looking for someone to tell them what to do or for validation/rejection of their decision

You left off:
- Those who harbor a deep-seated need to tell other people they are morons for not thinking the same way they do.

Vive la update!

no, theres really only two types of people...
-those who make future purchase plans based on RUMORS
-those who accept that whats currently available will perfectly suite their needs and there is no need to wait an untold amount of time before a product may or may not be updated to meet the general masses expectations

I agree but i might do it

but yeah i believe that the current MacBook Pro suits a lot of people but some just want the best for their spent bucks

There is no such thing as "future proof your purchase"!! Buy one when you NEED it!
