I'm sorry why do we have to remember ARkit?
Because it won't work for those who haven't upgraded their devices for a couple of years. I'll be honest, i was kind of excited about the ruler feature when it was demoed. But then I learned iphone 6 is too old a device to support arkit. Yes, two years is all takes for an apple processor to go from he fastest thing in he world that can compete with a laptop to a turtle. Meanwhile my haswell laptop is still able to do everything a modern CPU does...

IOS 11 is a massive disappointment, there's not much "new" in it. It's just chalked full of bandades.. Apple needs to redesign the interface, icons don't count fellas. Now moving away from the home button, time to really step up software development!

Be careful what you ask for. This is 2017 Apple we’re talking about. If they did do a complete redesign of iOS then they’ll most likely f*ck it up and we’ll be complaining as such.

Yes! I had the GM spontaneously reboot (crash), text writing outside the notification bubble on the home screen, Messages scroll stuck so that I can scroll to the last message. And, sometimes when I swipe a mail to left all of the options buttons are missing (just a blank white area). Pretty basic stuff that should have never made it past QA. But, I guess when they set a date, they gotta keep it no matter how obviously buggy the software is.

I've been running OS11 for awhile, but haven't had any of these issues. I guess YMMV

I'm holding off for a bit.

They somehow always dick up the Bluetooth settings and my phone can never work in my car until around update #3.

Is tvOS update going live today?

I'm going to embrace Virtual Alternate Gaming In-screen Non-reality Augmentation fully!

I would rather have Steve alive running Apple, who wouldn't :D
Tim & his non-leading leadership is far from perfect.

But it could be worse then Tim though. Just imagine Trump running Apple

Well, I’m one of those that are likely paying full pop if I want the IPx. A legacy plan with my carrier that, if I wanted to get an up front subsidy, means 30% more for the same service, plus the monthly instalment on a phone. In the end the phone is the same overall cost to me regardless, interest free loan or not. So, it’s upgrade the plan and lock myself in a contract for 2 years at a much higher rate or buy outright.

We don’t have a situation in Canada where you can upgrade every year through the carrrier program.

Regardless of my situation, him using the term “value” is walking a very narrow line when you’re talking about something that costs over $1k Usd, when there are devices that can do 90% of the functions of this one, for 50% less or more, including phones currently in the Apple lineup itself.

Oh it’ll be a day to remember that’s for sure. The day Apple decided things we purchased? he doesn’t think we should use them any more. It’s called “Planned Obsolescence” - just like your computer and iPad. 5 years then throw it away even though it works perfect.

Since iTunes 12.7 took away the right for us to backup our own devises by removing the App Store why not kill off hundreds of thousands of those apps while were at it ?

We have close to 3,000 ranging from free to as high as $170 purchase price. When beta 5 came out I got a little surprise on my new iPad Pro housing them all.
“1.877 apps were removed as they were not compatible”. Wtf?

iOS 11 hits educational apps and kids games the hardest. Some of the school grade apps are $170 per school grade (1. 2, , etc) and then they charge a fee per year too.

Don’t do it. It’s not worth loosing 1/3rd of your purchases especially things your kids need and use for school.

I’m surprised he had time to show up or say anything. Isn’t there a “cause” somewhere needing your activists’ attention Tim? Some gay day parade you need to speak at? (It’s ok I’m a fag. It’s ok for fags to poke other fags in the eye.) Oh that’s right this weekend is Folsom Street fair. I forgot. See ya there! Don’t forget your leather

The developers are to blame for this, not Apple. They were notified a while back that this was coming. Changing an app to 64 bit is really, really simple most of the time. When the developer stops being lazy, and makes this change, you'll have your app back.

"In response to a viewer question, Cook said the cost of the iPhone X is a "value price" for the technology inside of the smartphone."

I completely agree with this. I expected the starting price to be $1200 - $1300 alone.

I just really want to know, after reading all of the comments so far:

What in the hell do you actually want your phones to do?!

I'm sure there is technology that will still be forthcoming but all too often I see someone complaining about "innovation this" "cutting edge that". When will you all realize that Apple is right along with these other companies when it comes to innovative features, and their goal is to differentiate by marketing an experience? Other companies come out with other tactics (Samsung and edge to edge display etc). Stop getting your feelings hurt by a marketing campaign! Their claim to fame is making products that work seamlessly within their ecosystem, thereby making the user experience better. Anyone who owns more than just one Apple product can see this. People want different icons, wallpapers, etc just to feel like they have an "updated" software. It's a shame.

Most of us use phones for dialing, taking pictures, social media, and music. ALL manufacturers have mastered this to some extent now. Now they're just trying to see what grabs your attention the first 1-2 months of owning the phone before you go back to using it how you would normally (as I described before).

To people complaining about the price, there are phones (iPhones, Androids, etc) that are cheaper, that have similar capabilities. Go buy those and SHUT UP.

Your phone isn't going to make you breakfast, wash your body, feed you, drive you, make you more productive, etc. just because it's $1,000. Sheesh.

Agreed, Apple has a great opportunity to modernize the UI with the X, but just adding clunky new gestures feels more like yet another bandage for an awkwardly missing button.

Remember when you could pick up and iPhone or iPad and just use it because all the controls were so natural and intuitive?

Well, that's the thing. The rational part of the brain knows the majority of the blame lies in the developers (I'm looking at you, Disney). But the emotional part of the brain feels that since it's ultimately the iOS 11 update that deals the death knell, I feel compelled to direct at least SOME outrage to Apple.

And it's not a good idea to sweep all the cases into "lazy dev" rug. There are cases where some developers have been bought out by bigger companies like Google and the existing apps get left behind. Only the core of the technology gets incorporated into a tangentially related product and the alternatives I have to turn to are inferior or practically nonexistent. It's quite a frustrating predicament. And it's not like we could have some sort of 32-bit iOS emulator to keep them alive like we could do with DOS programs. Intended or not, I simply can't absolve Apple of all the rage.
My god the human suffering. Forced to adoption t the new IOS 11 against your will. How can Tim Cook be so cruel.

Oh wait.....you don't have to update the software if you don't want to. Still using so many 32 bit apps the developers are too cheap or lazy to update.

Don't load IOS 11. Keep using your 32 bit apps. Just suffer with no AR......dah.
