My own mother is an immigrant and had to go through a very lengthy, expensive, grueling process to prove her fitness to become a citizen of the U.S.A. She was never at any time here illegally. She married my American dad in her native country and came here with him. She retained legal resident alien status until the death of her mother so that she could more easily return for visits and manage her ailing mother's affairs.

I am very sympathetic to the plight of people desperate enough to cross our borders illegally and I believe we need to overhaul or immigration process to make it more transparent and easy to understand, since it took us hiring expensive attorneys to help us navigate the process. My mom had been a legal resident alien for over 40 years and has not even a jaywalking ticket to her name, so it's incredible how difficult the bureaucracy made it for her to obtain her citizenship. My point to this is that I'm not a bigot, I am very sympathetic to people wanting to become citizens and how difficult it is for them to do so.

However, supporting illegal immigration in any way is supporting a whole host of related crimes like identity theft that impacts the lives of innocent citizens.

Regarding identity theft and how closely associated it is with illegal immigration, I have read of parents fighting for years to clear up the records of their children whose social security numbers were stolen when the children were infants.

Yes, often these immigrants using stolen credentials are hardworking people who pay taxes and contribute to society. But they had to commit a felony that would impact the future of an innocent person to do this. Why should we keep ignoring this and other hard truths about the costs to our society of illegal immigration? And how about all of the exploitation of people here illegally? How is that progressive?

Ignoring these problems does not mean we are more progressive. It means we are willfully idiotic and undermining the laws that keep our society from descending into chaos. We should reform the immigration process but not ignore, bypass, or undermine it until it barely functions except to punish people who want to become citizens legally.

Maybe Tim doesn't understand what "deferred" means. Or wait... that's his strategy for many products so maybe DACA applies to Mac Mini and others!

We all know trump will end this program simply because it will be an easy win for him. Since the beginning he has not been doing well, he's been really bad actually. In some eyes this will be a major accomplishment but in reality it will be a huge fail, for many reasons I will not list since I am not here to debate.

Nah, we'll get rid of this garbage Trump in 3 years, bring humanity back to the States.

You think? Will be interesting as if the economy keeps growing it will be a hard sell against him...

IMHO if you're here ILLEGALLY time for you to go home and try again the legal way.

Surely these Dreamers were/are underage, so had no control over where their parents took them. Thus why punish them for where they ended up at maturity through no fault of their own. They can contribute to the economy and society by getting an education and job, just like any US citizen can. To stop them from improving their lives, and contribute to society, helps no one

They were brought here illegally and denied a right to grow up where they came from. They were denied their birthright be their selfish parents who put them in this unfortunate position. Unfortunate, or not, the law is still the law and they should return to their place of birth. If they want to come back then let them apply LEGALLY to immigrate like all the other people who are queued waiting to come to the USA LEGALLY. There's legal immigration to the USA and there are illegal aliens. These so-called dreamers are the latter.

Not knowing the intricacies of this situation, I think what's happening here is the current government trying to plug a loophole in a very unsubtle way.

If it's true that they want to deport people who were brought into the country as kids, then that's tough and surely a better solution can be found. BUT at the same time, the US needs to take away this loophole where illegals can come into the country with their children and then the children will be allowed to stay. Such a law only encourages people to illegally enter the country. That's wrong and I think that is what the current government wants to address...??????

I think... I guess... I dunno.

The problem now is that both sides are so hell bent on getting one over on the other side that it's just children chucking tantrums over and over. Everybody in the middle is sitting around wondering when sanity will prevail... it won't.

I'll say this right at the onset: Tim Cook needs to give his left liberal political pandering since November 2016 a bloody effing break. I'm an immigrant from India myself, I currently work for Apple from Germany, I have family in the USA, and before Tim blindly starts defending Dreamers, he needs to read this: https://cis.org/Mortensen/DACA-Gran...mitting-Crimes-While-Abandoning-Their-Victims.

I support some of President Trump's policies and I believe that DACA should be reformulated from the ground up instead of being nullified.

Having said that, Tim Cook of late hasn't ceased downright disgusting me. We get it that Tim is a die-hard Hillary Clinton fan but he just can't seem to be able to keep his head out of politics.

KKK, Nazis, white supremacsists are vile, demented creatures—there's no defending ANYTHING they stand for. But where are Cook's Twitter condemnations and fundraising against rabidly hateful and intolerant leftist groups like Antifa, who (quite literally!) burn down every single free speech rally at college campuses without a single consequence?

What happens to his voice when Islamists openly urge for a Jewish genocide in America in the name of "freeing Palestine"?!

Where is this coward when cop-killing BLM groups conduct riots, vandalize local businesses, loot, destroy for months in a row during the 2-term presidency of a black man!?

In which hole in the ground does Tim Cook hide when rabid feminists take the stage—physically or on mainstream media—and demand the systematic suffering of men, especially white males in America?

As a brown man that has seen plenty of these pseudoliberals in my own country, there's nothing worse than a duplicitous, hypocritical COWARD with connections to influence, and tons of cash to spend toward their own agenda.

Tim, take your private jet and come see the state of Germany after it took in 3 million undocumented immigrants. Roam around Düsseldorf for a while, then take a flight to Paris and then drop in at Rome after that. Maybe what you will witness will help you SHUT your mouth and have you consider focusing on your goddam job again.
It is painfully obvious Tim has been cherry-picking 'safe' issues that have popular support, but he's nowhere to be found in the face of less popular injustices. He should either be consistent with his unsolicited criticisms or stick to running Apple. His hypocrisy is becoming a turn off.

Btw, the situation in Europe is imho a ticking time bomb. The violence by the newcomers taking place in countries such as Germany, Sweden, Italy, The Netherlands, etc. is appalling, as are their unrealistic demands. This is not going to end well.

Awesome rant!

It's so cool of you to take a stand for suffering white males in America, and as a "brown man" no less. You are so totally right. Tim Cook isn't doing nearly enough to defend them against the brutal and relentless feminist onslaught. They are rabid. They are like dogs. Can't they just stop criticizing already? It hurts.

It's also cool that you've taken note of the many "pseudoliberals" in "your own country". Is that India? Or Germany? These pseudoliberals. They are worse than liberals. They have more letters in front of their name. Totally #pseudo.

Oh, and don't get me started about duplicitous, hypocritical COWARDS with connection to influence and tons of cash to spend toward their own agenda! Americans really, really don't like people like that, you know, people who brag incessantly about how great they are.

Post your Apple creds so Tim can give you some props. Truth to power. Tim needs clear and logical voices like yours. You'll probably get a big promotion and maybe an H1-B so you can come be with your family. Just don't move to Kansas. They are afraid of brown Muslim engineers from India.

And you are the problem in this country. The US is based on this thing called "rule of law". It's one of the very things why illegal immigrants leave the dysfunctional backwaters they're trying to escape from by breaking a host of laws. Talent does NOT come before the law in business. I would hate work for or with someone like you that has such low business ethics.

This is why we should never listen to Trumpers - they cause businesses to fail by hiring untalented people instead of talented people. That's why they are failures.

The US isn't based on "rule of law". We are based on "rule of people".

The people override the law. The law doesn't override the people.

If you don't like Democracy, you can go back to Russia.

These sort of concerns never bothered people when complaining about other presidents. They’ll just reframe and concentrate on it from an angle that supports their viewpoint.

There’s no way trump is getting a second term. He’s more likely to not last his full first term than win another imo.
