I think it would be fascinating to know how many millions of dollars Apple has already spent to bombard the public with advertising and under the table deals.

 got to love this elitism Apple has provoked!

Apple and elitist narcissism go hand in hand as always. They love to Lord it over the Android owners. Without Android to bash thousands would be lost.

Says again? All I see is Android owners shamelessly come to specific Apple forums that doesn't have anything to do with them. Couldn't understand why.

It still looks too mannish for my liking.

To each their own but I dig the look here (that's the SS + Link in that pic):

Is no one going with the Black Stainless on black sports band?? The non SS just look cheap to me for some reason

I guess you haven't heard yet that you can't buy the black stainless without the black link bracelet. That probably puts many off the idea of wearing it with the cheapo band since then they would have effectively paid ~$500 for a band they don't want.

I'm still sticking with 38mm. I tried the idea of 42mm but it's just too big, it doesn't look professional or classy. I also don't like the width of the 42mm band. It's too wide and bulky.

But I'm in uncertain of which case I want. aluminum silver? gray? or SS silver? I'm ruling out SS black. It looks the sharpest, but doesn't provide band flexibility.

I'm thinking SS 38mm link. Hmm... It's $949

I'll get the modern buckle. I'm a guy for that matter. And of course some sports bands for exercising, black and blue. Wrist is 175mm but should shrink slightly as I keep doing cardio. I've got plenty of watches with the traditional buckle, time to wear the modern one.

As I reviewed the various combinations Apple's clever approach to maximizing their profits is readily apparent. That's what they're in business for and hardly anyone can come close to the huge profits Apple generates.

The more I consider sizes, the more and more strongly I conclude that it depends HUGELY on which band style you go with. The width of the band relative to the width of the case seems to have far more influence on how large or small the watch really looks on someone.

I'd say, if you're worried about the watch seeming "too small" but don't want to go full 42mm, choose a wide band, like the sport or link bracelet. If you're wanting 42mm but worried it's too big, go with a narrow band like the milanese or classic leather.

Or... maybe it was the opposite of that. I can't remember now ;) Just consider these relationships as well as the size.

EDIT: yeah I remembered, it's the opposite of what I said. 42mm looks less giant with a wider band, and vice versa for the 38mm.

I've been waffling.

I thought maybe I could get by with the 38mm watch, but when sizing was released, I quickly realized that I'd have to go with the 42mm to fit my ~200mm wrist.

When the pricing first came out, the sensible person in my head steered me to the silver aluminum. Now knowing that the back material over the sensors is different and the worry of a scratched screen has me leaning toward a SS Watch with black sport band (with the possibility of getting a leather loop later). The way I'm rationalizing it in my head is that if I get the Sport model, I'd have to get a black sport band separately. That's $50 more. If I get the SS model, I can just order it with the band I want, so really, the price difference is $150, not $200... at least that's what I keep telling myself. ;)

My sister in law settled on that reddish pink Sport model pretty quickly. My husband seems to be waffling between SS with a black leather loop and a Sport model of some sort. Honestly he's so busy making important decisions for work right now he doesn't care and will likely make his choice on some sort of autopilot.

I don't know what I want anymore. The more pics I see the more appealing they all are becoming.

A similar thing happened over here. My daughter wants a pink sport. My husband is busy with work but goes back and forth between SS Link and SS w/black sport band.

I seem to like most of the SS ones. Decisions, decisions.

Hi Bunnicula. I prefer the SS watch myself. But I do so much work landscaping and gardening (now that the weather is finally settling past night frosts I'll be getting back out there this week) that I wonder if I would get more enjoyment out of the lighter weight sport paired with the Spigen protective case I'm putting on it while working outdoors. I think this case will help protect the watch from abrasions against hardscape elements like lawn sculptures and pavers and retaining wall stones. It adds some bulk though so I was thinking of going light in my choice with the aluminum watch.

I totally want the  Watch but the new macbook is tempting and i totally never just splurge for the heck of it. I'm on the fence. I know some people are like "first world problems"

My problem is that i grew up poor and i tend to mull things over before i go crazy and say "Yes" as far as large purchases.

Down to one final decision: to space black or not to space black. That is the question. Cost is not an issue. Size is decided. I don't really care about matching other bands. It is really down to this last choice.

And 3 whole days left to obsess over it :)

I think I decided now. I will get the standard Apple watch stainless steel with the sports band.

At first I had to decide wether I want the sports or the SS. Was kind of difficult but I ended up with the SS.

Next is the band. I do want to use the watch for running as well so that's why I will order it with the black rubber band.

That way I will get a watch early on and then I can take all my time and go and look at all the other band options.

At the moment I like the blue leather loop band as a second one but as I said I want to see this in person first.

I'm 95% sure I'm going SS, but question is which band. Thinking of going with the Milanese loop and then buying the black rubber strap separately to save $50. Though might also swing towards just getting the SS with black strap or maybe even the SS with a leather loop. Ah decisions decisions...

I think I'm there. These forums have really helped.

42mm -- because the word "Mon" on the calendar app on the sizing guide is too small for me to read clearly on the 38mm.

SS -- because sapphire

Classic buckle -- because I know what I'm getting: the others all need to be seen in real life to answer niggly questions I have

I still can not decide. Not only in regards to 38 or 42 mm, I also still have 6 favourites in my apple account. My wrist is pretty small and measures 17cm. My current watch has around 36mm face, but when I include the outer bits up to the link bracelet its actually about 40mm.

Thankfully the Missus is saying that I should get a watch I like, instead of going for the cheapest one, only to buy one...

So here are my favs (unlikely to likely)

Space Black Stainless Steel with Link Bracelet
Sport Space Grey Black Strap
Stainless Steel Case with Black Sport Band
Stainless Steel with Modern Buckle
Stainless Steel with Milanese Loop
Stainless Steel with Black Leather loop.

The fact that the Stainless Steel/Black Leather loop only comes in 42mm would actually take one option out of the running.

Any advice?

Hey guys. Not posted on MR for a long time but been reading this wonderful thread. I was going for the Sports with the black band but now I'm leaning towards the SS with black band.
Is it worth the extra £180.
Who has upgraded (in there head) and what made you decide.

That's the exact debate I'm going through in my head too.

You cannot make a mistake by buying the Stainless Steel with black sports band. Then take all your time, go to the stores and so on and get a second band.
