This is why I stayed with the tried and true 6s. Apple decided to go with Intel and all the early adopters are seeing issues from screens to connectivity. Hopefully this all gets ironed out sooner versus later. I will wait until next year when Apple does its lessons learned segment on the next build.

Verizon iPhone 7 uses Qualcomm.

If I was in the market for a new iPhone, buying a used 6s is looking better and better.
This happens all the time with a new iPhone release. In the first month or so, a number of production issues, software glitches, etc. are inevitably found that weren't caught in testing. Usually the software fixes are identified pretty quickly.

I guess I won't be changing over to Verizon after all...

Or is this an iOS10 issue?

I've had this happen twice now on my iPhone 6 running iOS 10. I'm on AT&T and lost all internet connectivity. Putting the phone into airplane mode and then back didn't help. Took several minutes to just sort itself out.

I have a matte iPhone 7 on Verizon.

I use Waze when driving to work each day, around 1 hour each way. On almost every trip, the GPS signal disappears, followed by the phone displaying 'No Service'. The service comes back after some period of time (30 seconds to a few minutes). I usually turn airplane mode on and off to try and get it to recover the signal.

I took the phone to the apple store to have them check it. They ran diagnostics and said the phone was fine. The apple employee told me that the GPS and the Cell modem are on the same chip. I have noticed that I will get an approximate location when the GPS is not working, probably from the wifi triangulation.

I have been taking screen shots every time it happens since that visit, 5 days ago. It has happened 6 times.

I hope that Apple diagnoses what is wrong and gets it fixed asap. It is extremely annoying!

I sometimes notice the LTE, but I more frequently and seriously end up with "No Service" especially as I'm driving (tower handoff I assume). Clearly the modem firmware needs some work.

I tried googling this issue sporadically over the past two weeks but didn't find too much info, so I thought it was just me. I went to the store this afternoon and they swapped out my phone, but I don't think there has been much difference. I'm also having issues connecting to the WiFi network at work (Cisco router).

I've had a work-issued iPhone 6 from Sprint for over a year, and I've had this same issue since the day I got the phone. My old Verizon 5C never had this problem, and I've been planning to go back to VZW the next time I can upgrade.

I am sick to death of having to constantly refresh the connection via Airplane Mode.

I think this is iOS10 related. I have an iPhone6 (AT&T) that exhibits this behavior ever since I updated to 10. If I walk into a building, and have my cell connection drop down to something other than LTE, when I emerge from the building I have to manually reset my cell connection to get back to LTE. Before iOS10, my cell service would immediately bounce back up to LTE by itself.

How is this different than the same issue I had with my 5S 6+ and 6S+? all of them if they get dropped to 3G would sometimes get stuck there until I reset them by putting them in airplane mode

I did it three times today already on my 6s+. Granted at work I have poor reception and data connection it goes in and out sitting in the same spot on my desk. Some days LTE others 1x or 3g. I always attributed it to my location. At home I don't have the same issues.

This is the exact condition that most of us have been experiencing in the main thread (link below). Using Waze while driving is one of the easiest ways to recreate this issue in my experience, and just like you, I'll get "no service" for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes at a time. The same thing happens on my wife's iPhone 7 as well. If we're in the car together, we each get "no service" dropouts at different times. She can have 4 bars of LTE while mine says "no service" and then several minutes later, my phone is fine and hers has lost the signal!

A growing number of Verizon subscribers are complaining about a serious issue that causes them to regularly lose LTE connectivity on their iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus devices, suggesting a major bug that needs to be resolved by either Apple or Verizon.

There are dozens of complaints from Verizon customers who have purchased either an iPhone 7 or an iPhone 7 Plus on the MacRumors forums, Reddit, and the Apple Support Communities.

Phones from other carriers may also be experiencing the same problem, as there are also complaints from some AT&T subscribers. The problem appears to be limited to Apple's newest devices, with those who have earlier iPhones not reporting connectivity issues. As described by Reddit user Kangalex:Affected customers are seeing their LTE connectivity cut out at regular intervals, leaving them stuck with 3G/1X speeds or no signal at all. This can cause calls to disconnect when VoLTE is in use in addition to interrupting data usage. Turning off VoLTE can avoid dropped calls, but it does not address the underlying problem.

There appears to be no clear fix for the issue, and customers have been complaining of being routed between Apple and Verizon with neither company offering a solution. Restarts, sim swapping, turning off HD voice, and putting the iPhone in Airplane Mode appear to resolve the issue temporarily, but it returns. Apple and Verizon have swapped out devices for some affected customers, but their new devices have the same problem.

Customers who are experiencing the issue say that the problem is exacerbated by switching between towers, as one might do when traveling in a moving car, and that it is not fixed in iOS 10.0.2 or in the iOS 10.1 beta.

One customer was told it was an Apple software issue, and according to several others, Verizon is aware of the problem and is working with Apple on a fix.

I don't think this is anything new. I dealt with the same **** every day leaving work since the iPhone 6. Glad it's now getting attention tho.

I am having exactly the same issue with a Verizon iPhone 7. Always happens when I'm driving using GPS. Really sucks because the navigation stops working for some reason as well! It has made me late to two appointments so far!

This is an iOS 10 issue - I have it with my two 6s's too (but not on the iPad). Verizon tech support confirmed that it's widespread.

But the bands are still there.

I should have said less bands but the issue most people had about the bands is it runs across the phone and people thought that looks ugly. Now that it's removed its almost like a full metal back. Metal interfers with radio waves which is the causes of most of th reception issues. Like previous iPhones if you place your hands over the bands you can see antenna bar drop. With less band there's higher chance to blocking or covering the antenna waves. This is just going to turn into another antennagate. Apple should have just left the antenna bands alone and had it colored to the same color as the phone.

I had noticed this too but thought I was just being crazy. Glad to see I am not the only one. It seems to even affect my connectivity via wifi as I will constantly lag on certain things. It is not my wifi because my iPad and Macbook run no problem at all.

A fix is needed. These are barely 3G speeds.

LOL those are typical LTE speeds in central PA on an Apple device, unless you're within 300 feet of a Verizon store. (then you get ~6mbps down and ~800kbps up)

Android devices for some reason have always speed tested faster than my iPhones since the 5.

I've become accustomed to using WiFi as much as possible, including using a "jetpack" instead of the built in modem on my iPhones because it's just faster that way (and uses less battery).

TMo user here, back at you VZW and ATT fans :p

PS I never had the issue on my 7, but my daughter did on her SE. The carrier update 25.2 I believe fixed it.

Same problems here. iPhone 7 on Verizon. Started noticing the phone dropping to 1x mode, 3G mode, or "No Service" in areas with very strong 4G coverage. Including right next to an iPhone 6 with solid LTE signal. Happens most noticeably when handing off from tower to tower.

Started troubleshooting with phone reboot, then network settings reset, then full factory reset, then got a new phone. Same problem!

I do have VoLTE enabled--need that to be able to talk on phone with computer tethered. Anxious for a fix.
