I'm actually looking forward to the increase in data. I might actually use more. :D We'll be keeping our XXL plan even though we don't even use half of it, even if the price goes up for that plan.

If you are happy paying for something that provides you no value then I'm happy for you.

Personally, I don't see how this is any better value. T-Mobile and AT&T already have rollover data. So this just brings Verizon on par with their offerings. T-Mobile already had throttle unlimited. So again this just brings Verizon on par.

Verizon had been offering an extra 2 GB per line for switching. So if you had two lines on XL you were already getting an additional 4 GB. Again nothing new here.

With AT&T you could call retentions and they would add an extra 1 GB on a 1 GB or 3 GB tiered plan. So again nothing new here either.

This just seems like complete arrogance on the part of Verizon.

But again, if anyone is happy with these new plans then I'm happy for you.

I agree with your statements and if I didn't have a 19% discount with my job and a long time friend to split the data with on our family plan, I probably wouldn't be on Verizon... in fact, I know I wouldn't. lol.

If I didn't have the above arrangement, I'd be on Google Fi tho I don't know how I'd tolerate Android again.

Does anyone have a prediction on just how throttled the data speed will be on safety mode? Will we be able to take advantage of this "unlimited data throttle" and still get decent enough speeds or will it be like dial up slow?

Anyone know?

I wanted to know what's the speed a user will be throttled to. If I can still run Maps, Music, or VoIP here and there then this should be a good deal for me.

My gut tells me Verizon is only going to offer the carryover data feature on these new plans they are introducing on the 7th. If that's the case I won't be able to take advantage of it.

If I do my bill will go up by $25.00 and the only benefit I'll see is 6GB additional data and Carryover feature. not worth it.

Update: I was right. Thanks but no thanks Verizon. I'm not paying $25 per month extra just for carryover.

You're right. I saw a video of someone using it on YouTube and it is terribly slow. I probably won't like this safety mode feature much at all lol.
Yeah, I definitely won't be paying for this feature. I'd rather pay $15 every once in a while and use data how I like when I like.

I'm not going to give VZW another $5 a month for "insurance" just in case I might go over. This happens to my family maybe once a year or so. Not worth it.

I have a 1gb plan which I never go over. An additional 1gb for an added $5 may not seem like a lot , but I'm not interested. And the data overage protection means an additional $5.

So these new plans means $10 to my monthly bill for a measy 1gb increase...Verizon is full of ****.

They're not bundling anything extra for free...same old Verizon.

Some things will never change...

So additional options means you're switching. Got it...

Some weird logic in this thread! I know everyone hates carriers, and especially Verizon/ATT/Sprint, but jeeze. This is rollover data, new options, more data for less money, and not forcing anyone to change plans. We sure can make anything into lemons.

What he's saying is he would like to get roaming to canada so in order to get it he will have to switch to a more expensive plan. What part dont you understand?
So he's considering switching to a carrier that offers those options and more data for less money per month. Got it?
Why is that weird logic and why do you care if he switches?

Well said, this is exactly what I was trying to convey in my posts, perhaps I didn't explain clearly. T-Mobile will offer me exactly what I'm looking for at a much better monthly price. But, I was excited that Verizon was going to offer additional features with their plans until I realized that to get the plan that I would need for my usage would be $10 more per month. I guess I shouldn't be surprised as this is Verizon after all.

so glad im in contract with unlimited data still until oct 2017. then 20$+ month, still worth it.

I am currently on a 30GB double data promo with 5 active lines - 3 iPhones with DPPs and 2 iPads BOTH under contract 1 ending on 9/27 and the other late 2017.

I will switch to the new plans for several reasons - the main one being that 2 iphone 6's will be paid off in 4 months and the roll to price will be $40 for each line once the DPP is zero. Secondly one line is my sons, he uses most of our data so I have to monitor my usage to avoid overages which I don't like to do. We technically average 24gb - 26 gb a month total data used among all devices. I will go with the 30gb plan instead of the 24gb.

My bill pays out to this

$278.82 NEW PLAN VS $259.59 OLD PLAN

So even factoring in that the device payment plan will be going away on two of your iPhones in four months, your cost is going to go up nearly $20/month for the same 30 GB of data that you have currently (assuming I'm reading your post correctly) and you're on board with that?!

In my opinion, unlimited 2G data isn't worth an extra $20 a month over what you're paying now -- not even close. Also, your son who likes to use data will likely be complaining big time once he gets into the 2G data. It's slow as molasses.

The only thing I hate about the new carryover is it looks like you have to go with one of the new plans to get it.

Does anyone know yet whether you lose bonus data if you switch to a new plan? Or, if you have to switch to a new plan if you upgrade? I upgraded several phones on our plan when they offered 2gb data "for life" for upgrades. I like the idea of carryover but it wouldn't be worth it if I lose the bonus data.

I had gotten double data as a bonus for having Fios. I wondered if they will double 24 gb. I currently have 18 gb and they doubled it to 36 gb. Even if I just kept the 36gb with the $10 and the other features, I'd be happy.
