Carrier Verizon to start offering Rollover data

Does anyone know yet whether you lose bonus data if you switch to a new plan? Or, if you have to switch to a new plan if you upgrade? I upgraded several phones on our plan when they offered 2gb data "for life" for upgrades. I like the idea of carryover but it wouldn't be worth it if I lose the bonus data.

According to Verizon employees on the Verizon Reddit, you will lose the 2GB for life if you move to one of these new plans. Here's a link to that thread where people have commented on it:

So even factoring in that the device payment plan will be going away on two of your iPhones in four months, your cost is going to go up nearly $20/month for the same 30 GB of data that you have currently (assuming I'm reading your post correctly) and you're on board with that?!

In my opinion, unlimited 2G data isn't worth an extra $20 a month over what you're paying now -- not even close. Also, your son who likes to use data will likely be complaining big time once he gets into the 2G data. It's slow as molasses.

Under the plan I am on Everything Data currently my paid off lines will move to $40 x 2 a month which would be ($80) vs. $20x 2 ($40) under the new plan. They will roll to full value on Sept 27 so really 2.5 months.

My son is normally over or getting close to data overages on the last 2-3 days of our cycle- he has an option to take his money and buy additional data, get his own service or deal with the slow service.

BTW- The NEW plans are active

Yep, it suggested that I go the XL plan (Now 16GB from 12GB) from the XXL plan (18GB now 24GB). So I lose 2GB for $8/mo in savings and get rollover and no overages.

There is a rumor floating around saying employee discounts disappear but they're still showing for me. I just re-verified my employee discount too after talking to a rep.

I've used the hotspot on my 6s several times and nothing came up or shows up as an extra charge. Same as it was for the old plan (included).

Those support people can't get their story straight. I once had a bet with a friend... I'd ask a question and I bet him $ that I'd get a different answer every single time. I got a different answer every single time to a billing question. Sad thing was, none of them were right. lol. I avoid contacting them if I can because I usually can find the answer myself. Thankfully I haven't had any major billing problems that required assistance.

It depends on the plan you have. On the new ones and the ones right before them the hotspot is included, on older plans the hotspot is usually not included.

At least that's how it is for us (9 lines on 30gb double data promotion with a recently paid off device). I don't think Verizon had changed this policy but you should give them a call to confirm.

It used to be that way now it is not automatic. I know people who have gotten the MtM discount added back on through retentions and others who were denied


I've already changed over to the new 30gb plan now so it doesn't matter on my account

Wow, I didn't know that. That was one of the reasons why we stay with Verizon due to the number of lines we have on the plan. Come out to be about $30 a pop with 30GB to share.

When I tried to switch my lines to the new plans, it showed that it kept my lines at $15 each instead of the $20 per line as shown on their website. I'm kind of hesitant to move them because I don't want to pay more for each line if for some reason it doesn't keep the discount.

I'd gladly switch over if the $15 per line price persisted, but I doubt that would be the case.

I have been with T mobile since I left Verizon last fall and I could not be happier.
10gb/mo for each of 8 lines in the plan and I pay $325 per month which includes monthly payment for 4 devices. The best part is Netflix streaming on cellular network does not use any of my monthly data.

I kept hearing about how cheaper Tmobile is but after crunching numbers, tmobile is the same or worse than my current AT&T grandfather unlimited plan.

I have two iphones on AT&T:
line one has unlimited data (22GB before throttled) and other has 3GB, unlimited voice, and no text.
total cost without tax/fee: $128.91 - $17.85 (21% discount) = $111.06


Comparable plan on Tmobile: line 1 has unlimited data, and line 2 has 2GB of data
total cost without tax/fee: $125

AT&T costs $3 more (without discount) but line 2 has 1GB more data and better coverage while Tmobile has unlimited text.

Am I missing something here?

Bingo. I'm actually moving the other lines off my family plan to Verizon in a few months (once their contracts are up), due to better rural Northeast roaming agreements (specifically USCC).

I'm keeping my AT&T "unlimited" plan. No reason to move. Verizon/AT&T are fantastic here in Massachusetts.

Yeah, in cities. Not major highways or rural areas. The Big 2 still reign supreme there. I still can't drive from Boston to NYC and keep 100% HSPA/LTE service with TMo (even with a B12 device.)

I can name plenty of locations where T-Mobile is a no-show, yet AT&T/VZW are working perfectly.

That is correct. I had both Sprint and T-Mobil, and both had lousy reception in my city here in Florida, returned them for Verizon

I'm surprised at this. The have so many towers in town compared to t Mobil you must live right near a t Mobil site
