How thick are those? That's a good idea.

I've got a Mandarina Duck bag which has it's own rain jacket so there's no need for addition water proofing.

I have a brand new MBP 2.5 also. I wanted a bag thats cheap, easy to open and close, waterproof, freezing temperature proof keep the moisture out, folds to fit my pocket or jacket pocket. Weigh only a few ounces. Get the super jumbo version. :p

about to get the macbook unibody 17. what would be the best backpack for that that has a lot of space for other stuff as well? 300 and under

I use a Montblanc 4810 Westside single gusset briefcase to carry my tools of the trade: a 15" MBP classic, an HP 50g, and a fountain pen.

The size is perfect, the MBP fits just right. The calfskin has held up very well, I've been using it for three years and don't think I'll be replacing it anytime soon. I use mine without the shoulder strap; I think it looks more elegant that way.

booq M2 with a tom bihn keyboard cover and a moshi palmguard - good combo that keeps my MBP clean, safe and working. laptop is carried in a beatup Chrome metropolis.

i had a really hard time deciding on a bag. i really wanted a brenthaven because of their reputation for protection. i looked at them and case logic, booq and many others. i researched for over a week now.

i was surprised to find that the brenthaven metrolite offered more protection then the brenthaven prolite. according to their site, the prolite offers standard protection and the metrolite offers the next level up of protection. i even called them to verify this wasnt a mistake and they confirmed the metrolite offers more protection, but has less space available for stuff. since i only need the laptop and power cord, i didnt need much space.
i will post what i think when it arrives

I have a leather bag that is similar to this one, it was like 20 bucks at Target. At first I started not to get it because it kindof looked like a purse, but then I was like "whatever" hehe.

I use the Zero Haliburton, 4 inch silver computer bag. It is as strong as a tank and matches the MBP too. The 17 inch MBP fits perfectly, no excess space at all.

Reminds me of the case the solar gun thing case from Die Another Day :p

I went with these. Tucano sleeve and Wenger Synergy backpack. They protect pretty well. Although, i've seen that backpack with a different laptop compartment then mine has, and it seemed like it would be too tight. Maybe they're making them differently now. Check it out in person if you can.

I got one of the "Swiss Army" models they sell at the Apple Store for $100.

It holds my 17" unibody, along with my 13" plastic MacBook, with plenty of room for a bunch of other stuff. Also it's quite comfortable compared to some other larger backpacks I've had.

+1 ^^^ Definitely my choice as well with the Zero Haliburton; my choice for my outer case for the past (16) years! Case Logic is a really nice touch for inside the Zero H...:p

I use a DJ Computer Bag from Manhattan Portage. Even though I have a 15" MBP I bought the 17" bag for extra room for my books. I love it and Manhattan Portage is a really good brand, lasts forever.

My MBP goes into a Booq Vyper M2 and then into an Oakley backpack. I use a Booq Folee 2M (without the Vyper M2) when I travel because it offers more space and many pockets.

I continue to use the Timbuk2 commuter messenger bag that I carried my old Powerbook G4 in. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I got the Cozmo mambo combo. It's professional looking, attractive, durable and it's not made by little yellow or brown hands for $0.05/day.
If you add d rings to the sleeve, you can attach the shoulder strap from the bag and use it as its own slimmed down bag. When flying, I've used just the sleeve and the strap to transport my MBP.
Since I hate leather, I asked them to remove that from the bag. Even though they had to customize the bag, they didn't charge extra and it didn't take as long as I feared.
If you want a good quality bag that will last, go with American made: Waterfield, Tom Bihn, Red Oxx, etc. Yes, they cost more, but you're paying for high quality work that won't fall apart. You're not paying for some designer name that uses child labor to create shoddy bags.

I have the Waterfield Cargo bag - excellent looking and design is first class.

I need to get a bag for my 15" uni MBP, does best buy have an okay selection? Thats just the nearest store to my house that I know would sell products as these

Booq Vyper M3. Wanted a little more protection than a neoprene sleeve. Its still slim and fits the Unibody perfectly. Highly recommended!
