Because Steve Jobs died.

That man could sell the crap out of anything. After being disappointed in the first Apple Watch keynote, I always daydreamed about how well Steve would have pulled it off. When he sold something, it felt like there was a reason for it existing. When everyone else at Apple sold Apple Watch, it felt like they figured "welp. Wearables is the new thing. Let's give it a try". Wasn't excited at all.

That's what Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said about Michael Jordan last year. I might end up loving LeBron James more because at least he is an activist. LeBron plans to donate $41M to education. Apple is similar to Michael Jordan's impact.

Apple changed the mobile industry but also ruins it with their own success. After MJ played in the NBA, others who followed him became fat cats. They can now make $100M contracts. Players played "hero ball." Players only cared about one on one and less about passionately playing hard.

Apple are the lazy ones here. Fat cats. The original iPhone was that Jesus phone and mobile gamechanger but also have influenced the industry enough to move slower with their restrictive philosophy (no sd slot, non removable batteries). This all started with the iPod before iPhone.

Note7 is already on my mind because I know the iPhone 7 won't come to close it in features. Not even the iPhone 8. Samsung, LG, and Chinese OEM's are years ahead of Apple. A new iPhone 8 design won't change a thing that I haven't seen with a Sharp Aquos or Xperia Z.

Most people have been living under a rock called an iPhone to take notice what is happening past, present, and hopefully for the future. If Apple has hit their ceiling on what a smartphone could be, then get into other industries and revolutionize it. Flying cars or robots, change the game again.

If iPhone fanatics are so into design or so fashion conscious, then Apple should get into fashion like Lady Gaga camera glasses or selling shoes like MJ did with Nike who rarely did much to improve humanity. Commerce over conscience.

Nope, I get excited about each release. It's my favourite platform so yeah....pretty fun time.
I'm with you, pretty fun time.

The subsidy is built into the price of the older plans, while with the newer plans discounts are given to offset financed (or owned) equipment, which in many ways is fairly similar to how the subsidy pricing worked, just accounted for in a different manner.

That is not true. The carriers were practically giving the iPhone away for either $0 or $99 from the 3GS up until the launch of the iPhone 6 where most carriers (not AT&T) dropped the 2-year contract model and went to the current pay-per-month model.

If you look at what I paid for my iPhone 6 all-in on the traditional 2-year contract plus the monthly AT&T fees, minus what I'd get for it on Craigslist at the end, divide it by 24 months, it is significantly cheaper than what I'd be up against for the iPhone 7 with it's 2x purchase price. It's not some timeshifting game where I have always been paying full price for an iPhone for the past 6 years, it's real money, I'd be paying hundreds more because the carriers complained, Apple allowed them to raise prices, and now we're at a point where innovation has come to a crawl.

The iPhone 6 is simply the greatest consumer electronic product of all time, it is no surprise to me that the iPhone 7 can't make it look outdated. In all industries, innovation stops and things become iterative, that's expected. But to face a boring release and increase pricing and lose basic features, well these leaks better not be true or Apple and the carriers are going to see a 30% decrease in unit sales and subscriptions, no different than when HDTV's got saturated, notebooks got saturated, iPod's, you name it. Usually when consumer electronics get tired and saturated the prices come tumbling down to stimulate sales. Think different indeed.

Lol? I've been an Android user in the past and as a phone I prefer it over the iPhone. I would love a Note 7 but as much as I prefer it I will probably keep on buying iPhone because of two reasons iMessage and the fact I don't necessarily hate iOS either anyways.

The initial pricing of some phones on contract might have been different at times to increase sales or the like, but it doesn't change anything I said about subsidies being built into to the pricing of the older plans and now discounts being applied to the newer plans when financing is being used. Furthermore, even with financing there are sometimes deals with getting $50 to $200 credit when financing a new phone, which isn't that much different than the initial price of a contract phone being lower in the $0 to $99 range (using the example you provided).

In fact that is how my iPhone 6 comes out to be cheaper for me with financing over 2 years vs. a contract over the same 2 years--it all depends on the plan and any additional deals that might be available initially (be they lower priced subsidized phone or credit to you or something else of that nature).

All of which is incremental.Even if Timmy hadn't added those feature the iPhone would still break records. For instance the iPhone 7 only had audio innovation and no antenna bands. Now while it won't halt the free fall in sales (that will be done by the iPhone 8 which in my opinion will break the record set by iPhone 6) it will still have pretty high sales for a lacklustre upgrade

I also notice how you don't counter the superb posts written by Savor rather deflecting onto one liners when presented with facts.I mean how can you possibly explain this

That line regarding what we iOS users will enjoy is 2016 is so hilariously true as what's stated there is going to be a fact next month (or at least some of it]

Its not really news that android has certain features first. Apple does usually implement them better.

Exactly. Andriod users touted for years about NFC and no one used it. After Apple came out with Apple Pay, everyone started making their own "x Pay". There's all kinds of gimmicky features in the Android camp, and they really don't add much nor make me want to switch from iPhone. If I do switch, it's going to be a Nexus or one of those nice $400 phones you can get now thanks to One Plus.

Honestly, After the massive performance boost from the 6S, I don't see any need to upgrade for awhile. I'm on ATT NEXT, and have decided to keep my phone this year.

It's Tims company now. He's been at the reins for 5 years and has done a superb job.

You know nothing about the iPhone 7, because the keynote hasn't happened. You think you know; but you really don't.

And yes I did respond to savors post: android motto: "be by yourself". iPhone motto: "be part of the human race". (See above) there is nothing else to get out of that post.

I have the 6 plus and I am really looking forward to the 7 Plus...

For one reason alone... the bump in memory... I notice the lack of memory everyday when I try to continue listening to my Audible book, but the app was bumped from the memory... forcing me to have to unlock my phone, open the app, and restart the book playback

This may not seem like a big deal, but it is annoying as hell. I am really hoping the rumors about 3GB of ram on the 7 plus are true.

I notice it's getting harder and harder to get excited about the new iPhone launches. Why do you think it is? Are we just to spoiled by all the great technology? Or has Apple really failed to innovate ?

1. you already know what you get
2. you already know that tc keeps his hand like praying

been there, seen that, had it...

All of this is nonsense. Let's dig in...

Software - Apple beats Samsung
Hardware - Samsung beats Apple

SOFTware is correctable. HARDware is more permanent but is easier to get excited about because software doesn't change in UI all that much while hardware can.

This Microsoft video still amazes me five years later...

^ Probably won't see that in 15-20 years. Transparent, thin credit card smartphones. Hard to be excited with iPhones when so much cool technology could be coming out next year.

2017
+ Foldable displays (wait CES or MWC)
+ Project Ara / modular designs
+ Improvements to VR and AR
+ Nokia Android flagship
+ Google-made phone and Fuchsia OS
+ Nintendo NX, PS4 Neo
+ Star Wars 8 ;)

-Foldable displays won't be on any consumer-grade phones in a meaningful way for another few years.
-Project Ara/Modular - vaporware. Consumers won't see this stuff either. What's currently out there certainly aren't "modular" phones. The LG G5's design is horrible, and the Moto Z has thus far generated 3 mostly useless attachments.
-VR & AR are coming/kinda here. However I don't think Apple will be playing "catch up" here. Most of what's currently available isn't going to see wide mainstream adoption. That will happen once Apple unveils their own version.
-Nokia Android Flagship - who cares? It will probably resemble every other Android flagship at the time from a vendor that isn't a player in the space anymore. This hardly counts as "cool tech."
-Google-made phone and Fuschia OS - more who cares stuff. Google is notorious for developing and abandoning projects. Wake me when something comes to market.
-Nintendo NX, PS4 Neo - sure. Okay.
-Star Wars 8 - this will be cool!

It is why I can't get too excited with a Note7 for too long when I know foldable displays will change the game for tablets. Browse through YouTube and check out foldable displays that can be unfurled, holographic, Project Ara, HoloLens, and so on. Our smartphones with the slab form factor won't look like that forever.

Apple lost its touch with marketing. It lost touch with any hardware innovation. This is basically what happened to Nokia and Sony. All I see with Apple and their rich deep pockets is copying other companies. Where is the modular design? 4K display? VR? Foldable display? Revamp iOS or make a completely different new OS but still compatible to iOS apps now.

Apple is par with most of the market at this point on hardware innovation. What happened to Nokia and Sony has nothing to do with Apple. Nokia's Symbian OS lost all market share, then they started making Windows phones. We see how well that OS is holding up in the market place. Sony produces good looking kit but they don't support their devices and don't really spend on marketing. When you decided to make this comparison, did you do any actual comparing between the companies or did you just jumble together some words here?

Apple is always 2-3+ years behind Samsung and Android. It was Samsung that pioneered the phablet industry back in 2011. It was Sony who brought water-resistance to flagships in early-2013. Fast charging or wireless charging, Androids had those years ago. All I see customers want is NEW DESIGN when they should be asking for a NEW FORM FACTOR!

Apple's A chips are industry leading, and they were the first on 64 bit architecture. Plus Apple is the company that made smartphones a replacement for a great many point and shoot folks. Fast charging - iPhone folks had that once the iPad charger was introduced. Wireless charging is cute but hardly a feature anyone craves. It's use case actually reduces the usability of the phone while its charging. Apple is working on near field charging - *that* is gonna be the sh*t to wait for.

New design to iPhone users really means make the front iPhone look nearly the same but change the rear back. LOL! That's exciting enough to iOS users. Or recycle the iPhone 5s, and folks blow their load. Too slow, iOS fanatics/Android haters. Always years behind in your thought process. Think Different.

Ironic coming from someone who keeps reposting the same tired Apple bashing memes that have been around forever in different forms. Judging by the content of your post, I'm guessing you either don't really know a lot about this stuff or you're hoping the folks reading don't. ;)

Superb job AKA Tanking iPad and iPhone sales?

Sales of Apple Products Down 20% at Target

During the second quarter of 2016, sales of Apple iPads, iPhones, and other devices fell 20 percent at popular retailer Target. Target CEO Brian Cornell highlighted the sales drop during an earnings call where he suggested the decline was due to a lack of "newness" and "innovation" and blamed poor Apple sales for Target's disappointing Q2 earnings results.

According to Cornell, electronics sales decreased by double digits, with Apple product sales responsible for a third of the overall drop.

The leaks have told us everything, the keynote is a mere formality. We Even know how the INTEL MODEM looks. Is there ANYTHING we DONT know about it?

I stopped buying iPhones at target due to their policies. No doubt millions of others did also. They shot themselves in their own metaphorical foot.

here is why i'm not exited this yrs

1 - no new design
2 - no oled or 4k screen
3 - no black color or slate
4 - no wireless charing
5 - no water resistant
6 - no anti ban
7 - no battery extended = 4,5 hour max
8 - no ios 10 like i wish

oh my alot stuff not sucess ,,,,,,, apple kind suk today ..............

my money ready for note 7 , seriusly..............View attachment 644866

I agree. I feel a lot of people will be leaving for the note 7 and next years iPhone will probably be great but who knows if people will come back. I feel apple dropped the ball this year. This phone should have been what the rumored next years phone will be.

You know it's bad this year when a lot of the rumors were about the 2017 iPhone and not this years.

I'm having a dilemma about moving to the note 7 but that screen and camera look phenomenal, I can't for the life of me understand why Apple doesn't have 4K screens, the iPhone 6s Plus records in 4K but you can't actually notice it on your screen, weird.

The excuses just keep rolling in.Nearly 1/3rd of the decline is solely Apple products.Nice deflection bringing in "store policies " into it.Your experience does not make it a universal fact.

As if you understand the dynamics of why to make any type of informed judgment of why. We know your subtext, but the real reason is they are losing customer, less customers less sales. Or are less customers just another excuse?
