Will you be buying the new iPod touch?

The 32GB model is great value for money for the kids as a video/music/game/app/e-mail/internet device and even use FaceTime or Skype or chat with iMessage or Telegram.

The screen size is a hard sell for me, add to that the 16 gigs base storage (should've been more).

edit: But I'll probably still get one if I can play a test unit in stores

If you're in an area you don't normally drive you might want gps there more than anywhere else, and for a lot of people rural areas are one of those, as would when you are traveling abroad and need to find something.

Perhaps the lack of GPS isn't an issue for you, but for some people who otherwise would want the new touch it is an issue.

Look, the touch has never had GPS, but this time it does have wi-fi geotagging, which is better than nothing. My post was replying to a sarcastic remark that wi-fi geotagging didn't have perfect coverage.

Yeah...I wasn't planning on it but that blue is really drawing me in. Ill just get the 16gb...That storage space has always met my needs.

Yep. Love that shade of blue. It's still my favorite iOS device design. I just placed an order for one with 32 gb capacity.

it can't install google map?
Of course you can install it, but good luck using it for navigation without GPS. I know the touch hasn't ever had it, but it apple has any interest in keeping it around they need to work on expanding its market, and adding GPS would have done that.

Really thinking about getting a 128gb. Plenty of space to hold all of my music. I'm just not sure I want to spend that much right now. Compared to some other high capacity music players the 128gb Touch isn't so bad, though. No way I'm spending ~$1,000+ for a Sony Walkman...

The main thing holding me back from buying the Touch right now is that my iPod Classic is still working okay. The battery lasts a decent amount of time. It does seem to be slowing down some though and sometimes it doesn't show the proper song title unless I skip the song and go back to it. The HDD is probably just getting worn out. The Touch does so much more than just play music that it might be handy to have around and designate the Classic to vehicle use only until it completely croaks. hmmmmmmm.....

Now that I think about it this was the reason why I sold my 5G and buy a used iPhone (plus the cheapest data plan) instead for music.

Which is why it would be good for apple to try to get people to buy a new touch instead of a used iPhone. The used iPhone doesn't bring them any additional revenue, while a new touch bought from apple brings in more money.

From Apple's perspective it is best if old devices sit in drawers and the people who would have bought used buy something like the touch.

If I were a developer or if I were interested in the public beta for iOS 9, I would get one. This would be an excellent device for app developing and beta testing since it has adequate horsepower under the hood.

But since I don't fall into that category, no I won't be buying one.

It's a delicate balance because they don't really want people saying "this is so good I don't need an iPhone!" They really only want to sell you the touch of you weren't going to buy an iPhone regardless.

Strange, just learned this WON'T support Apple Pay. Interesting. All the other devices support Apple Pay. (iPhone, iPadMini 3, iPad Air, watch) but not iPT.

I would have thought they would be after that low income Asia market with Apple Pay.

You can only use Apple Pay on the iPads from within an app - you can't wave it at a NFC terminal. But IIRC only TouchID-equipped devices get any kind of Apple Pay, and this one doesn't seem to have it.

Already did, 16gb gold and it is a looker.

I already have a 6 Plus but I don't bring that monster to the gym. This 4 incher is perfect size and neglible weight for the gym to listen to AM.

Same reason why I want one. My 6 plus is not meant to use in the gym and I just sold my 4s today for money towards a 6th gen iPod touch (that I was using). Debating if I should get the 32gb or if 16gb will be enough though...My 4s was only 16gb but I feel I'm going to use the Ipod touch more than the 4s (It was painfully slow).

Apple have got to be kidding me. Didn't they add the ambient light sensor which they for a obsessively moronic reason (too thin) decided to remove? I can't find it in the tech spec section.

I got my blue iPod 64GB this AM. This thing is some kind of sweet. I love how fast it is and Apple Music works great on it. I really have been impressed with the bluetooth connectivity as well. Connects in my car quickly, picks up right where in left off. I never had my Android do that, it would start the song over from the beginning if it started playing again at all.

I am coming from a 4th Gen, which I got when it was first released. This is a pretty darn significant upgrade. The battery life on my 4th Gen was very poor, but it was money well spent at the time. Just as the purchase of the 7th Gen was this time.

I did take several pictures and videos. I am really happy with the camera as well. DARN nice pictures!

There is absolutely NO evidence that anyone can provide that if Apple put GPS on this thing that it would suddenly increase sales. Apple is pretty good at looking at all options and generally they make decisions based on knowing their customers. Like I said if it has GPS sure that would be nice, it is necessary for most ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I'm getting a gold one in 16GB - won't ever be connecting it to a computer or storing music on it.

More for an up-to-date iOs experience and streaming Google Play Music.
