Less than the price of a coffee to watch unlimited video for an entire month.

Hilarious and bizarre takes in here, as usual. Why not argue that it should cost $1 a month and really see how far you can push the absurdity?

Wow, you pay more than $15.99 for a coffee? Don’t think I would want to live where you live…
The few times I do go out for coffee, I never paid that much for a cup of coffee. Even at Starbucks (only because it's next door to the one office I go too once In a while) I never paid that much.

Oh yeah, it only gets rid of most ads. If you don’t watch Shorts or listen to music much it functionally gets rids of almost all YT ads in videos.

Wow, what a scam. In reality it’s a great tier that gets rid of almost all ads which is what most people want.
I don’t use YouTube music, but I watch a lot of music videos.
There was other stuff missing too, but maybe I’ll try it a month.

I was saying that the user that was being quoted was arguing that they should get unlimited video for an entire month from YouTube for less than the price of a coffee. Something I find ridiculous.

I used to use TV apps to watch YouTube at night before sleep, but the ads got so bad that I put together a cheap computer just to watch via Brave.

If YouTube (Alphabet/Google) wants more money, they should just introduce a cheap plan that does nothing but remove ads with no other features. Make it cheap enough that people will buy it, like $2.99/month, and then they can also save the development costs they spend trying to fight ad blockers back and forth too.

If you thought about it at scale, it would seem a lot less ridiculous to you.

One user at $2.99 seems laughable to you, but it's not when it's 10 million.

I also currently get it for $0 with ad blocking so it's nothing but profit to them.

I used to pay in Argentinian pesos until they cracked down on VPN payments. Now I just adblock. Oh well!

As others have said, make it something like $3 a month and I'd sign right back up. Some money is better than no money, right Google?

I watch a lot of YT in my home gym. The commercials keep increasing in both amount and length. At some point soon, I'll just stop watching it rather than pay.

There is always other ways to get what you want to watch for free and at good quality. I thought the point of streaming services was to detour from people from illegal viewings and people thought end of physical copies is nearing. Only benefit of a ad-free on Youtube is during live concerts and getting 4K streaming for the live stuff. Also, the movies that you own on Youtube through Movies Anywhere only streams upto 720p if I remember correctly and you would think with premium they would let you stream movies you own at premium quality.

Considering the fact that I pirate any of the media I consume, YT Premium really is the only subscription I pay for. Even though the prices are ridiculous, it's still way more convenient than installing Adblockers on desktop. And there is no option for iPhone besides using the browser.

I've been paying $7.99 forever. I signed up for Google Music when it first came out which gave it to me for 7.99 a month, then they added YouTube premium to be included with it. After Google music died and switched to YouTube music, I've still been grandfathered in for $7.99 a month. It will be interesting to see if I still get it for $7.99 after the price increase goes into effect or if it will be raised to $8.99 like the student plan.

I sideload YT+ using sidestore. So much better. Paying a creator $5/yr directly nets them more than your viewership. Or subbing for $5/m for a few months… way more revenue. I refuse to participate in ad models.

How would you get that running on an iPad?
They’re both available for iPad, note it’s for safari not the YT app. Vinegar - tube cleaner in the App Store, a one time cost to purchase don’t recall what the price is.

Says it blocks ads too but I use Adguard to block ads universally for safari
