After reading 7 pages, the sheer stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

No, it will not make your 3G run better. It's old hardware that shouldn't even be supported anyways. To expect it to run a new OS well is just naive, no, just stupid.

Considering that the problems I see on the 3G are indicative of a memory leak (phone runs OK after reboot but starts to have app crashes and slow downs after a few days), it is something which could be fixed with an update. Will it with this release, I don't know. It takes a some time to see all of the symptoms. Also, Apple doesn't always list every single change in a release, only the highlights.

Be careful calling something stupid unless you are sure you understand the issues involved.

Remedial learning time....

This is not going to fix the reception issue. This was not intended to fix the reception issue.

Please people...do try to keep up.

That is because Apple claims there is no reception problem...

That should Really be the Headlining Story....

A warning...

This Update only breaks the Jailbreak, Ithink it was all planned this way

Most likely. Why would Apple or AT&T want to update their software to make the appearance of their horrible signal worse?

Okay...Just updated and synced my iPad

and OMG APPLE :D thank you! no problems at all now :D

i ..... wish >.<

now after updating to 3.2.1 which is to FIX wifi on my WIFI ONLY ipad, my wifi isnt working at all! great.

Anyone else not able to connect to their wifi on iPads after updating ?

waiting on 4.0.1 downloading. 20 or so minutes left. Oh im so excited to be let down more >.<

honestly what did people expect. apple didnt even call it a big update by naming it 4.0.1.. no point to update unless it goes to 4.1..

iPhone 3Gs user here living in Sweden. It seemed to have lost one bar indoors. Haven't tried it outdoors yet.

Also, it still drops down to one bar when I'm holding it in my hand. Very annoying.

Can you make calls with one more, if so, why does it matter how many bars you have?

Here you go mate:

Stupid question, but what is a SHSH blob? I've seen several post mention it and a google search was no help.

"So first up, what exactly is SHSH blob or ECID SHSH? Well, it is basically is a unique signature which is checked against Apple servers whenever you decide to restore the firmware on any of your iDevice (iPhone, iPad and iPod touch). Once a new firmware is released, Apple stops signing the older firmware, hence making it impossible to restore back to the older firmware from iTunes."

Alright, we're done...

To All You Mindless ****s Whining About Dropped Calls...

...am I really the only one who doesn't want it fixed? Or just the only one who thanks God in heaven for Apple being awesome enough to give me a native You're Annoying So...Um *drop* app?

Does nada

Just as I thought.

On O2 here in the UK, my iPhone 4 with 4.0.1 now displays the signal more accurately (i.e correctly displays that the signal in my flat is *****), and when holding in the death grip, goes to 'No service' as it did with 4.0. This wasn't a problem with my old 3G, nor is it a problem for other handsets used in the same spot.

Roll on tomorrow's announcement of a recall.

iPad WiFi issues fixed.

iPad WiFi issues fixed.

It's been a pretty frustrating few months since buying my beloved iPad with its many WiFi issues that I was experiencing: Dropped signal, fluttering icon, etc...

Happy to report that this update fixed all of those issues for my iPad today.

Thanks Apple.

...have I mentioned how happy I am with my iPhone 3GS and how much I am looking forward to iPhone 5.

yes all this did is show att's true service

Otherwise known as passing the buck. The phone has antenna issues....but blaming DG issue on the AT&T network makes for a convenient scapegoat.

'Hey, our hardware is fine....it just doesn't run on AT&T's network....'

Updated.

At home on crap O2 connection.

Used to get two/three bars on GPRS, and now as expected I get one bar on GPRS.

Held iPhone 4 in the "special" grip and within 40 seconds, I went from one bar to "Searching".

And hold on, as I type this my iPhone 4 is on my desk beside my Mac, and it's gone up to four bars ... I never get four bars up here, but if I pick it up and use the "special" grip it'll probably die on it's arse. Let's see ....

Four bars to three bars: 5 seconds.
Three bars to two bars: a further 3 seconds.
Two bars right down to "Searching" (didn't even get one bar): a further 2 seconds.

4.0.1!!! Yeah! :D

But we all know that's bull because other devices on AT&T's network run fine, it's just the iPhone on all carriers experiencing the "death grip". Funny, people will still blame AT&T.

Voluntary recall or free bumpers, not sure which.

oh god i hope for a voluntary recall. either that or im gonna return it before my 30 days are up. then ill wait till they fix the hardware problem and purchase again. if apple does do any type of recall they will restore all faith i have ever had in them. if they dont then :(

Hey,
Just installed the iPhone update on my 3GS, my bars are now LESS than before i installed it!!! WTF apple????
