If true, what a bloated mess of a line up. I suppose that’s what the company is without Jobs there. It was proven in the past and is proving to be so now.

Apple did really well for 10 years after Jobs 1985-95 just flying on the Macs sucess then started getting beat by their competition and making costly decisions. Same might ring true the next couple years as things change in the world

It's about time Apple focused on > 6" products.

Any smartphone smaller than 6" is soon becoming obsolete.
And that’s why the SE does well. And  will apparently bring out the iPhone SE2 this year.

Apple: I am not going to buy any of your iPhone until you release reasonably high performance MBP. You are not a phone company!
Soon they will be.  is already being called the phone maker.

These reports focusing on screen size as a reason for delayed purchase of the new iPhones and that people are waiting for dual sim (niche feature for the majority!).

Consistently overlooked since last Septembers unveiling is the choice of materials. The 5, 6, 7 series of iPhones have aluminium backs and that’s a big plus over the glass backed X and the 8 series. More durable and hard wearing, a lot of people lived through the 4 and 4s era with cracked glass part of the experience using an iPhone!

Duel sim? I’m going to take a stab that that’s wrong and being misinterpreted for Apple incorporating the e-sim or Apple Sim.

The 6.1” still doesn’t make sense to me. 5.8” as the small phone and 6.5” as the plus version. But I see the LCD version as the new SE. It should be a 4.8-5” display.

I really really really wanted to stick with Apple, but I will not literally flush money down the drain for a device that is so sub-par to others on the market. When will people wake up to this sham? My Moto G5+ performs better than all iPhone that I've had it's kind of mind boggling. Apple doesn't care anymore they can lose billions for the next century and still be afloat. But even though they're too big to fail, still doesn't mean i'm gonna give them my money.

Now let's see all the apple fan boys tell me to go elsewhere just because I have a dissenting opinion.

So is the expectation these will replace the 8 8+ and X respectively? Then I think the price points are wrong. I think Apple may go cheaper with the 8 replacement so they can also knock $100 off the X replacement but not that much cheaper.

The only way a €550 starting point could happen would be if they completely wipe the line-up clear. Ditch all those older models and reset the lineup end to end with all new models for 2018-2019... wouldn’t be a bad thing tech wise but could hit sales in developing and price conscious markets.

Dual sim I think could be a growing market. In response to tightening budgets, and just a general growing demand a lot of large corporates are adopting bring your own device policies for tech. We have it where I work but the policy either requires dual sim or a second device to your personal so the company can still track their own data but not your personal data. So I can see a surge in Enterprise which is a market Apple have shown interest in growing in.

Here’s hoping the X plus at least starts at the same price as the x and not more.

Edit: Apple’s phone lineup will be a mess if they have two versions of the 6.1 inch device
Unfortunately, Apple is really into messing up lineups these days.

I want a 2018 update with an upgraded camera and processor but retaining Touch ID and LCD screen. I’m hoping for a 9 Plus to replace the 8 Plus but I know it won’t happen.

Ideally we’d get a 9/9 Plus and an Xs/Xs Plus.

Given the cellular version of Apple Watch 3 features an eSIM I wonder if Apple will ship the next line up with that included?

Given some people buy their handsets SIM free to use a SIMO
tariff it’d make it so much easier if you’re with Carrier X but change your mind and opt for Carrier Y and so on.

I really wish they would stop using that murky green background on the LCD model. The LCD screens on iPhones are fantastic and are not as dull as that render is making it out to be.

Why would Apple have so many different iPhone's? What would the point of the X if it is the same design as the $500 model? How many consumers would care about OLED to LCD for $500?
Isn't it a good thing that those customers who don't care get to save $500?

That’s a classic, never bored to watch again.

I don’t get how and why they’d mess the iPhone lineup like this. They shouldn’t need SJ to tell them not to do it. If I was there then I would’ve done a similar thing to what they did with iPod and iPad. Bring out an iPhone, iPhone plus, and an iPhone mini. Why is it so hard to keep it simple? And stop changing screen sizes too!! I really do hope these rumours are wrong.

On another topic, I hope the next interactions of iOS are less buggy. If hardwaew becomes ridiculous and software is as bad as iOS 11 has been in the next couple of years, then I don’t know what I’ll do. I don’t want to go to Android because I don’t like Google at all.

If Apple really released a dual SIM iPhone, I would rely less and less on Android. Dual SIM is almost a must in many markets where coverage and cost of each carrier can vary greatly. Some people opted by carrying multiple phones.
Bring it on Apple.

Sorry... Remind me again why we are still using SIM cards?
Because not all carriers in all countries have a deal (or want to) with Apple? Plus each country have complex regulations in regards to telcos, so Apple cannot just assume everybody will support their e-SIM.

For example, Indonesia. There are at least 5 carriers, and only one officially have a deal with Apple (officially listed as supported on Apple’s website), and its the least popular carrier by market share. Not using SIM card is ultra hostile to your own consumers.

I'm ok with LCD, like the display of my 8+.
I wouldn't go back to a single camera though, I'm not a big fan of the portrait mode but I use the telephoto a lot in good light.
The perfect phone to me would be the 8+ (I think it has the best aspect ratio) with FaceID but without the notch, a bezel of the size of the notch on the top would be great and I don't care about rounded edges on the display. I think OLED is better, but I'm willing to stay on LCD to save money.

I wouldn't buy 2017 iPhone X at a lower price, since the SoC is the same as my 8+ so either they'll make a good upgrade to my 8+ or I'll keep it as long as I can before jumping to the "X" version, hopefully at a lower price point.

Its Also not unreasonable to believe that Apple as a company has changed over the course of 20 years. You can’t expect them to stay the same and only sell MacBooks, when they literally have expanded on every Avenue in the company showing its success with the Apple Watch, AirPods, iPad, etc. The iPhone has always been an avenue for Apple, but Apple needs to have competition to show where they are with technology over their competitors. Face ID being a great example of this, and now you will likely have smart phone competitors that will migrate towards that type a biometric security, showing that Apple is a leader in their own right being the first with 3D Facial mapping.

For me a 5.8" model that is not as hideously expensive as the current offerings would be great. The size of the iPhone X is perfect for my hands. I'm guessing they would make the bigger 6.1" model cheaper because it might be a bit easier to build (more internal space) and people seem to like big displays - because no manufacturer offers small phones anymore!
