horrible upgrade

ok before i begin i am ready for all the thumbs down this will get but please consider what i have to say before you do. also plz read to the end because there is a lot of info there.

the iPad to iPad 2 brought much thinner, much lighter, much faster, cameras, more ram, much much much much better graphics etc. so pretty much a design and hardware change and both big ones.

the iPad 2 to iPad 3(?) is a much better retina display yes incredible resolution higher then anything else except my 27 inch iMac. but lets not forget that it still is just a 4x upgrade even though the total resolution is great (they did not make such of a big deal of this when the iPhone 4 came out)

so far as we know there is no bump in ram, it has been told that the A5X is the A5 chip but with quad core graphics instead of dual core graphics

that means that the graphics are about 2X faster then the iPad 2 so all the gamers out there should be happy, right?

no, any computer gamer out there knows the biggest graphics hog is the resolution. o by increasing the resolution by 4x you have already lost the double frame rates of the better graphics and maybe less frame rates then the iPad 2 graphics.

so anything else added is just going to be less frame rates then the iPad 2.

the A5 is the exact same dual core 1ghz chip as in the iPad 2. not A15 architecture and 2ghz for 4times faster but A9 1ghz for the exact same speed as the a5.

and the cameras, ok the cameras are a nice upgrade and i can say nothing bad about them except for the fact (everyone can admit this) they are useless. to take pictures on a tablet is just insane, the hugeness and clunkiness of it makes it impossible.

siri dictaion, ok anyone who saw that may have thought that the iPad is getting siri. no only voice dictation. though i do agree this is a much more useful tool on the iPad then the iPhone so I'm just going to say this is a good ( but tiny) addition.

1080p video, same as cameras i would have rather seen a 1080p front facing camera too be quite honest because that is something you will use.

4g, again nothing bad to say about this but not exactly the biggest upgrade considering the majority of users go for the wifi model.

they also made it thicker and heavier which i do not appreciate.

so it comes down to this for the average user.

retina display, with worse graphics (or at best on par). better (but pretty useless) cameras. 4g let for the business people.

that is the upgrade, feel free to thumbs down, and yes i am an apple fanboy but i also do see products for what they are and i see this as something not good.

however considering they have not named it yet they may change something about it before release maybe a quad core chip and 1gb ram and they maybe disabled those for launch, who knows? but i hope they do.

also a side note. as seen in the past, when the iPhone 5 or 6 whatever they call it. comes out this june, what chip are they going to give it? maybe an a6? or maybe nothing and its going to be an upgrade to 4g with a redesign like the upgrade to the 3g think about it but if it has an a6 then the iPhone is faster then the iPad?

anyway if you here me out and agree post comments or thumbs up i just hand to bring this to peoples attention so feel free to thumbs down if you want thank you

It will obviously sell, but tell me what features are making you buy it? I agree that upgrading from a 1st to a 3rd would be worth it, but what features are making you upgrade from a 2 to a 3?

Well, if the answer for you is "none" then don't buy one. It's simple.

If you own a 2011 car (pick a make and model) you're not going to sell it just to buy the 2012 version. That would be silly. That doesn't mean it's a bust. The guy who owns a 2002 might be very happy with the new features in the 2012.

Or did you expect that the "X" version "n" is going to be so incredibly revolutionary that owners of "X" version "n-1" all immediately want to sell and upgrade? (And yet maintain pretty much the same form factor, thickness, weight, battery life, and price?)

How often does that actually happen, anyway? Is it happening with Android tablets? Cause if not, there's nothing to complain about here.

I don't really get it. . . .What exactly do you want them to change?

You're talking to people who try their hardest to figure out what's in the next Apple device. When the next Apple device actually fits the rumors, then they complain that there was nothing surprising.

Or others, for whom the standard is: Whatever features the product actually has, it's disappointing that it didn't have more.

Yes? The standard on this forum is 'every iteration of the device should compel a new purchase because of insane advances, and the time between iterations is always too long'.

retina display is way behind the competitor.

ipad 3 ppi is 264
galaxy note ppi is 285 amoled

why is apple alway behind the tech curve?

I don't really get it.

They upgraded the screen to be pretty much the best screen money can buy.
They upgraded the power. They upgraded the Camera.
They updated all of iLife and software, etc.
They upgrade to 4G.

All while keeping the same amount of long battery life.

What exactly do you want them to change? There's only so many "new" things you can come out with, at least without looking super gimmicky. Would 3D have been satisfying for you? I personally think until the iPad can produce a hologram with real texture, why should they even bother updating?

No not 3D.

Siri
Facetime HD cameras
8MP over 5MP
New colour or case
Increased battery to maybe 12 hours?
More memory

Need I go on?

Ahh the complainers of the complainers, took longer than I expected lol. ;)

So if the iPad was a different colour and had an 8MP camera you'd say 'not disappointing, total upgrade'? If so, that's silly. Or did you mean it would have to have all those things above. That's silly too!

Ahh the complainers of the complainers of the complainers. . . right on time :)

Oh, and nothing came of that unknown model number that was rumoured to have a $39 price??

I only really tuned in hoping for improved stylus support.

VERY DISAPPOINTED....nothing new

Guess you didn't read the new spec's that are better than the iPad 2

Better graphics speed
Retina display
Dictation
Better camera
4G
Same entry level price of $499

Just to name a few. So how can one say, "Nothing new"

I never said which ones were most important though did I?

Different colour yes the white got a good response did it not? Silver maybe?

Siri would be good

It's a bust as far as I'm concerned. Not one thing that would entice me to buy it. Cameras aren't important to me in this form factor. The display on the ipad 2 is just fine. I'm sure it's nice, but I can't see buying one just for that. Other than that, what else is there? 4G? Yawn. I'm underwhelmed, but still happy with my ipad 2.

I'm trying to pre-order mine now. Considering the server situation on the Apple Store I bet many other people are like me and wanting to snap one up!

I had to keep clicking the darn back button lots when I get the Ooops screen. Took me awhile but finally got to pre-order. Keep trying ;)

I never said which ones were most important though did I?

No, you certainly didn't, you just picked an arbitrary bunch of features and spec which the iPad doesn't have and said "if it had some of these it would not be disappointing".

Total bust, so bust that I somehow was able to order 4 (by accident)! Two prolly getting cancelled.

Its practically law around here that people with the previous generation will say the new product doesn't wow them. I have an original iPad and the 3 is pretty damn sweet. I'd totally pick it up if I didn't have a severe drug addiction that pre drains all my money.

People expecting entirely redesigned iProducts every year need to read up about product cycles. 2-3 years seems to be the norm for Apple nowadays.

I just ordered my first iPad today. Just decided it was time and I need it. Easy.

It's a bit below the general rumor-wishlist.
But the main topic is there: retina.

That Siri is missing is a minus; LTE I dont care anymore since I saw the carrier here in Japan.
Haptic screen I didn't expected though still love that idea:

Consequence: preordered Wifi-64-black
