Test it on verizon phone while on a call. Don't try to replicate it on an AT&T phone.... test it the way we did
you obviously did not notice my location. I'm not on AT&T.....

Blame Verizon for not having the technology to talk and receive/send data at the same time. Apple can only do so much with the limitation of Verizon's technology.
yes, but it's still in BETA! so they can tweak it. at the mo it's 5 mins and it asks if you wanna send as an SMS instead. they might reduce this or give you the option to change how long it waits.
i find it daft that there's a phone network that doesn't do data and voice connections at same time tho, that's not Apple's fault or problem.

Now you lost respect of half this forum using a 15 year old term "fanboy"
Nope our Techs always load the beta versions to make sure our apps work on the devices and that there are no issues with them interacting with our machines. And don't tell me where to complain. This is bringing an issue to the masses
I don't need or want respect from you. I am pointing out an issue and instead of discussing it you are telling me to shut up an sit down. This is an issue that has been reported and I see as a serious glitch. I can turn it off on our phones but what about pwople who don't realize there was na issue unless they read this forum.
Why don't you just go back to whatever you were doing and let the adults talk ok ?
But the network can do both at the same time. Apple just chose not to...
Verizon 3G can do both data and call at the same time? I don't think so... As far as I know, there are no phones on Verizon 3G that can do that currently. 4G phones, yes. So how is this Apple's doing?

Verizon CAN NOT do data and voice at the same time, but they can handle Voice and a TEXT message at teh same time as long as you are on 3g
Yes they can. The PHONE has to support it though.

Yes and no. The only phone that can do voice/data on Verizon at the moment is the 4G Thunderbolt. However, 3G-only phones can do it too. I believe it comes down to using a certain chip, which the CDMA iPhone 4 does not have, and other phones do not have. However, it is possible as Verizon has enabled their 3G network for it.

and on the iPhone you can be on the phone and get a text message...

Sure enough you guys are right. I guess the Verizon iPhone was in the pipeline and testing for a while before the NEW hardware came out that would allow phones to do call and data on 3G.
I think the point you are missing here completely is that an iMessage is NOT a text message. Yes, when you're on the phone on Verizon you can still get texts. That will not be changing with iOS 5, you will still get text messages. However, you will not get iMessages. iMessages are not text messages, and many people in this thread, and your previous one are trying to make this point to you. It's not really a bug on Apple's part. iMessages requires data, when you're on the Verizon network, you do not have data while on a phone call. You have options though. Turn iMessages off, which is the best option, or connect to Wifi while on a phone call. It's that simple. I don't know why you keep going on and on arguing your point when there is a simple solution to this so called "problem".
It has been observed and while it may be trivial to you It is NOT trivial to me. I recieve important text messages for work while on phone calls and we as a company decided to use Verizon because of all the issues we had with dropped calls on AT&T. Now we have fielded over 45 iPhones with Verizon and I think the imessage issue should be resolved.
and why arnt you people understanding what I am trying to explain to you. IF YOU HAVE IMESSAGE ENABLED YOU HAVE NO CHOICE AS TO WHETHER THE "TEXT" IS SENT AS AN IMESSAGE OR SMS. If it is sent as an SMS they you will get it, if it is sent as an iMessage you will NOT get it untill they hang up. This is a fault in the system!
So just turn iMessage off?

I think that is a good question. Does anyone have an answer for it?
