As the title suggests I had the X for 10 days only to end up returning and go back to the smaller 4.7 iPhone 8 (always had the smaller phone). Today at the Apple store I played a bit with the 8 plus and it really seems to be a great phone. I should say that I returned the X mainly due to the narrow and taller screen which I didn’t like and made the aspect ratio look weird in my opinion, as well as missing a lot of optimized apps. So now having the 8 for couple days thinking if I should return that one for the plus. I can see myself using it more also as my iPad mini replacement for web surfing and videos. Thoughts from anyone who moved up in size from 4.7 to plus?

I actually have the iPhone 8 and love it. It’s amazing. But I just now got the X. It’s more amazing haha. I think the iPhone X is pretty good for screen size and portability. The iPhone 8 Plus just seems too big for pockets and one handed use for me.

Coming from the 6 Plus and 7 Plus, I love the Plus. Granted, I’m 7 feet tall with ginormous hands, I was easily able to palm the Plus size. I now have the X and enjoying every bit of it though.

I got the 8+ because the iPhone X did not impress me at launch. I just tried out an X hands on yesterday and it is a very impressive machine. I may have a little bit of buyers remorse, however I am not into spending $1000+ on a phone.

I was from 7plus but before i was comfortable with 7

Upgrading to X was a shock as expecting a bigger screen estate

Well the size keeps the X

Had the x and returned it and went back to my 8 plus. Today my wife and daughter went to get new devices. Both played with the X and didn’t like it. They ended up getting the 8 plus. Worked for me since Att had BOGO so saved me a ton. I love the 8 plus. We will see what happens next year.

So you aren’t worried about getting mugged for an X anymore?

I had the iPhone 8, than I changed to the X and now I'm thinking to give back the X for the 8.

The reason? I have fear that in the next two or three years the iPhone X is (much) slower or laggier than the 8 (yeah with the same processor!) or that faceID works also if I don't look the screen direct... so much better. And the problem is the money remorse: 720€ for the iPhone 8 and 1149€ for the iPhone X.

What do you think?

Let's be honest. If you're not allowed to return the phone, you wouldn't even have bought the X in the first place. The aspect ratio etc are all known and not a big deal.

I know plenty of people who aren’t sure about a device and after trying it for a week or so love it and keep it.

Apple has a return policy for a reason.

They want their customers to love their products and be happy and I’m sure most of the time people are.

I was a HUGE skeptic of the iPhone 6 Plus but bought it anyway bc of the return policy, and since that was the first big iPhone I wanted to give it a shot.

Guess what? Used it with JOY for a whole year.

So not everyone who is skeptical buys and return I know many who end up loving and keeping the product.

This is a problem that can be easily decided in the store, you just need to go at times when the stores aren't in full swing...thankfully NYC has 5th ave which is 24 hours!

In any event, I think you jumped the gun!

The X is a very good phone in many ways and I could never see myself moving from an X type phone to an 8 unless it was financially motivated, which to some degree I've heard a lot of people say since the price difference is pretty crazy. However the X is just a much better phone than the regular 8...just my opinion.

However the 8plus is a different animal altogether and if your hands can adjust to the size it's a win win.

Size rules on the plus phones because watching videos is an absolute joy. I watched just about every episode of Game of thrones at some time or another on my 7 plus...Yes my home screen TV is second to none, but for the sheer convenience and being a person who is always at my place of business the iPhone plus series of Phones never really made me feel out of touch with watching a movie or series episode on ten go.

Than you talk about web viewing, daily tasks, lol the calculater, just about everything is a positive for the plus phones, especially the battery!!!

With that said..play with the 8plus again, that may end up being the phone for you.

The 8 only has 2 GB of ram where the X and 8 Plus both have 3 GB ram. i think in the long run this has the most importance in OS performance.

I feel like the 8 is a “perfected” phone. My iPhone 8 runs so good and is just so good and while it feels like a 4th iteration of the 6 model which can be seen as a bad thing, it really feels like a finalized product, if you know what I mean. Basically I feel like there’s not much room for improvement on the iPhone 8 for the most part.

The iPhone X is bananas for sure. I’ve said it all along. I believe it’s the best phone ever made.

But it feels like it could be improved in many ways and probably will be over the years software and hardware wise.

I thought that too as I had the 8 - which I switched (for now) for the X. And that is because I really liked the 8 (because of the "final, perfect" phone thing which I don't feel about the X)

Anyone who had the S0 / first gen Apple Watch can comment on this. The product I was sold vs the product I have today shouldn't even be considered the same thing. Yeah the S0 Apple Watch was a solid product, but my S0 with watchOS4 is SO MUCH MORE useful then the product that was shipped to me.
